HI! Was wondering if there is anyone out there who is currently in this program or starting it soon? If so, could you please give me some info? Like how long it took for you to get in, which pre req's you had to have done before applying and which ones you can do while in the program? Any and all info will be greatly appreciated!! Hello! I have the pearl pink one that I purchased off of medisave.com and it is awesome!! I only paid about $70 for it as well and it comes with a warranty & I verified that info w/ 3m the company that makes the litmann. You won't be disappointed with it! Good Luck:clown:

Hi All! I am currenly doing this option because after completing my pre req's for the adn i've been placed on a waiting list for a year possibly two! With the adn & bsn programs being so competitive I have heard if your an lpn first you have a better chance of geting in. And the year or so I am on a waiting list, I can complete the lpn proram! I start Oct 4th and actually the school I will be attending has a 1 + 1 program where you have the option to transition to the rn program if you choose. CONGRATS EVERYONE!! I start Oct 4th & I'm anxious, nervous, stressed, & HAPPY!! I'm currently trying to spend as much time with my bf & family! WOW!! You have a lot to consider! First YES it can be done w/ dedication & organization. As far as working @ a hospital vs nursing home: I feel that @ the hospital you will learn and see more, but does the hospital utilize LPN's there? It would be a waste to start working there and take out a student loan if there is no job waiting for you. I personally like the 2 12hrs shifts, thats what I work, because it gives you 5 days to focus on school and family etc... just my opinion though! You have some decisions to make, I would sit down and write the pro's & con's of working @ both & just go from there! Good Luck!!

Allforthefam- Thanks for the great advice! Yea I wass actually going to purchase a Littman before school starts, I have been hearing their the best!! And as far as flashcards, I have been buying them all summer!! Can never have too many! I have access to CAMS now, but don't see any syllabus on there yet, but I check it daily! The reason I am doing LPN first is because I have spent the last year and a half doing pre req's for an RN program only to be told I will be on a wait list for a year possibly two. I applied to a private LPN school & got right in. My pre req's transfer so all I have to do is nursing courses. And it is only an 11 month program! So now I will be able to work as an LPN while persuing my RN!

Hi Aimee280! I took the Hesi for PN! And I have a few tips for the math, memorize ratios part over whole, memorize the conversions gram-kg. As soon as you get to the testing site & they give you scrap paper write it all down so when you have those problems you will have something to look at. I did this and it helped alot!! Exactly! Especially since one school told me that they don't put LPN's on a waiting list, they are automatically accepted once all pre req's are done! Go figure!! Very frustrating!

Hi! Thanks for starting this post! So many people always say why do LPN when you can go straight through to RN, but what they fail to realize is it is not that easy!! I started out on that path and regret it a little! I have spent the last 2 years doing pre req's for ADN only to be told I am being placed on a waiting list for a year possibly 2. I was very disappointed and frustrated & felt like maybe this nursing thing isn't for me! But after days of deliberating and feeling sorry for myself I came up with a solid game plan. I want to start a family soon, but wanted to be a nurse before doing so as I want financial stability! I have decided to start an LPN program in Oct & very proud of my decision! I wish I would have started it sooner, but hindsight is 20/20! I will be done in 4 quarters & have a job waiting for me @ the hospital I am @ already. Hi All! Just have a quick question, I wanted to know what was included in the nurse pack that the school provides for the LPN program? I want to start buying supplies, but don't want to buy something if it's included, ie] stethescope, watch, pen light etc... Thanks!

Hey Angeloa22! LOL! I have been a cna for 5+ yrs now and have completed all my pre req's. So I know I can do it, because I'm very determined and have a great support system w/ my family. But I guess its the unknown that scares me & nursing classes are very different than pre req's! Don't get me wrong pre req's weren't a walk in the park either, but nursing is a different mind set. U have to learn to think critically, how to prioritize etc... We can do it! And before u know it we will be graduating & saying what were we nervous for?!

Hello All! My commute is 2hrs 1 way as well, so thats 4hrs total on the road! I live in cleveland so bad weather will come, i'll just have to plan to leave extra early. The last 5 weeks of the quarter are clinicals which on those days i will find a cheap hotel and stay over nite! We have come this far, so no turning back now! Best of Luck to everyone!

Hello Tonya7! First let me say congrats to you on your decision to go into nursing! It is a very rewarding career! The first thing to do is look at the pre req's for the nursing program you want to attend. You usually have to take things like anatomy & physiology I & II, chem I & II, psy, & some sort of math.
