Wait for bsn to job hunt or not?
Try applying for hospital scholarships. I was awarded in my last semester in school...3 weeks before graduation. At least that will get your foot in the hospital door.

Inova Health System
Hi Fourland, the interview was very different from what I expected it to be. They scheduled a lot of us for one time frame and interviewed in a large room with seperate tables with 1:1 interviews. I think it went well, we will hear something by June 8. Yes, they will hire ADNs only if you agree to sign a contract that you will obtain your BSN within 3 yrs of the hire date. There was A LOT of new Grads... Apparently, they are looking to hire 150 nurses.

Time card/ Time sheet fraud!
I would advise you to contact an attorney and not to discuss this matter any further until you have obtained legal advice. Don't contact the PCG since you do not work for them anymore. Best Luck and wishes...

Kaplan during preceptorship?
I've done the Kaplan NCLEX review and passed on my first time with 75 questions. I've went through the "Q- bank" that Kaplan offered and completed the 4 mock nclex tests. I will tell you that I thought I failed the NCLEX at first, because the questions were very unfamiliar...but I used what Kaplan taught me of HOW to answer the questions....Good Luck!

No Car for Nursing School- Urban Area- Am I doomed?
My program actually let us pick "clinical buddies" so we met at the college at a certain time before clinicals then rotate driving each month. We pretty much was in the same group until the end.

Are LPN and Associate RN degrees really being phased or rumor??
I have my ADN, my first job didn't "care" what degree I had, just as long I passed state boards. I have also worked as a hospice nurse case manager and now doing triage. My company now is encouraging me to go back for my BSN. I start next week. I am also going through the interview process with a large magnet hospital, which I must sign a contract that I will obtain my BSN within 3 years. It seems like BSN will be the requirement....

My pet peeves
I hate it when people eat with their mouths open, lip smacking and grunting during a meal....yes, nurses I've worked with!

Is $49,000.00 too much for ADN program?
Way too much! My ADN was 9,000 and I thought that was a little pricey...
- Anyone Up For Random FACT THROWING??

Hospice On Call Compensation Structure 2012
I work for a non-profit Hospice as a triage and oncall nurse. We have our case managers on from 8a-4p. Then, it rolls over to oncall. We have our triage nurse that takes calls from the office and dispatch out the oncall nurse for emergencies. We are hourly based with 15-20% differential. If I don't receive a call while oncall, I am still paid my rate with diff. (while waiting at home). It's pretty nice, sometimes a week goes by without me going to a visit.

Need pointers to get a hospital job before graduation
I don't know if this is an option for you, but while in my last semester of school, I applied for a nursing scholarship at a local hospital. I was granted a nice sum that paid half of my total school fees and plus had a job waiting for me after graduation.
