  1. I'm attending St Joseph's school of nursing.. they offer Health occupations, LPN, LPN to RN, and RN programs!
  2. You could always place the pages in a big binder. It's not like it originally was but atleast you wont loose the pages or anything!
  3. I have a lip piercing as well and I'm going to be starting Nursing school in 4 days. They haven't said anything about it yet but I know once it comes time for clinicals they will tell me. I've had mine for atleast 2 years now.. I'm going to take mine out completely and try to use scar cream and stuff like that and hopefully it wont scar. It's probably going to be easiest just to take them out because once you go to a college for nursing or get a job as a nurse the piercings will have to be gone..
  4. Missingunc How do you like the program the school offers? I've talked to some people and they said that they really enjoyed it. The nurse who actually gave me my mantoux test for school graduated from St. Joe's
  5. No it's not too difficult. Just make sure you study for the teas exam so you can get in and yes they take credit transfers if you send in a transcript from the school
  6. Yeah I meant all my books for 1st semester but I know it came so quickly it starts in 2 weeks! Yeah thats all we have to bring and a Birth Certificate if you didn't already show it to them. I didn't stay for the tour after the TEAS exam so I'm going to be so lost on the first day!
  7. Yes i've gotten all my books, i ordered most of mine of amazon. how about you? I'm also very excited but i'm also pretty nervous.. haha
  8. www.atitesting.com has the study guides for the test. if you now what version of the test you are taking you can also look on amazon for cheaper prices. I took TEAS version 3.0/4.0 and bought the study guide for that from that website.
  9. Why do you even bother posting threads if you are so against going into the nursing career? More than one person has posted a thread like this and all your doing is annoying everyone on this site. Most people choose a career because its something they want to do with their life, and yes the economy sucks right now but you aren't going to change anyones mind and all you're doing is wasting your own time.
  10. I bought my textbooks online, except I bought the books that came with CDs from the school and bought the rest online!
  11. I would recommend buying the newest year they have, that way in the end you wont be sorry if you got the wrong versions. I bought mind off of amazon! Your school didn't give you a list of the exact books you need?
  12. Hey everyone, I have recently been accepted into an LPN program in my state. After talking to some people who have been in nursing school or even people who want to go into nursing school they always mentions clinicals. Whether they love them or they don't want to do them because they are nervous every nursing student will do them at one point or another, for experience and knowledge. Of course everyone who has chosen this career for themselves realizes that after school is over they won't be 'clinicals' anymore and they will be a part of your everyday life as a nurse, but doing clinicals in school is much more nerve racking. why? because all pressures on us, we don't know everything and could be put on the spot, its all really personal opinion. I'm nervous for my first few clinicals because the first one is only 16 days into school, even though we will probably only be shadowing a nurse and seeing how things are run in a hospital and going over the basics i'm nervous and I'm sure almost everyone was nervous for their first few clinicals. I KNOW that I will end up loving them once I get to know more and get the hang of things. I decided to make this thread for students going into nursing school this year or in the future to ask questions and talk to other students about their schooling and clinicals and also for current/former nursing students to answer questions, tell stories and/or give advice! I hope everyone finds this useful! So I guess I'll be the first to start My main worry is I don't want to be thrown on the floor with not much experience I feel like 16 days into school is kind of early for clinicals but other schools have probably done it much earlier. What were most peoples first impression of clinicals? What did you do the first day of clinical? Thanks!:redbeathe
  13. Really? That's something I'll make sure to do. Not only will it help me on my resume but it will be good experience! I'm glad you told me that!
  14. Hey everyone! I'm starting the LPN program at St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Nashua this fall! I noticed a few threads about the school on here from people looking into the school as well as students of the school. I'm interested to see if there are anymore students on here or anyone else starting the LPN program when I am? :redbeathe
  15. I'm very excited to start at first I was looking into going to Manchester community college and looking through my options I came across St Josephs, I didn't even know about the school. deadlines for other schools admissions came and went so I was running out of options so I applied to St joes and after going to the test and the interview I felt confident that it was going to be a good experience and that it is probably best that I went to a smaller school so that the teachers actually had time to talk with you and give you help! but i'm glad to hear you like it! i'm definitely going to be nervous for the first clinical I didn't look into any LNA programs either since I just graduated high school in June I wanted to start right up the the PN program.
  16. I'm attending St. josephs school of Nursing this fall for an LPN program but they also offer an RN program. It's a very small school but I'm definitely excited to start. Its a pretty easy admissions process, you send in an application and take the TEAS exam. Once you take the TEAS you will figure out whether or not you got accepted, I got my acceptance letter five days after taking the exam. You'll set up an interview with the school after that where you'll take a math test! here's the website if you'd like to check the school out: http://www.sjhacademiccenter.org/
  17. That always seems to happen, I should probably start looking at the posting dates. haha. But I'm going into the PN program since I didn't have the Sociology or Microbiology credits then i'll do the LPN to RN transition. and Thank you! How do you like their program so far?
  18. I'm going to St. Joseph's school of nursing this year, and I actually asked them this exact questions. In order to go into the RN program at St. Josephs you would need the microbiology and Sociology credits from another school before being able to get accepted and you would have to send over your transcript from that college. If you went for the PN program you would not need those classes and would be able to advance to the RN program after graduating from the PN as well as working as a LPN for a year!
  19. I have orientation on August 31st and I start classes September 1st. I'm pretty excited but a longer vacation is always nice, I bought a flashdrive so I could work on papers at home and at school and I would always have it with me. I also bought a small portable planner so I could write my assignments and test dates in it while I was at school and I have a big desk calendar so I could have a planner from home and I will highlight the most important date. I obviously bought the normal supplies such as notebooks to take notes in, folders to hold my papers, pens, pencils, white out, etc.
  20. what part of the reading are you having problems with?
  21. wow you are taking a lot of classes this semester! goood luck! My schedule is : Nursing Fundementals - 105 theory hours, 30 lab hours, 90 clinical hours A & P I - 45 theory hours English Composition - 45 theory hours Orientation day: August 31st Classes start: September 1st
