NCLEX-RN, Help?
Here is what im going to say and hopefullly it helps you. If you have Failed the NLCEX already, or are just taking it for the first time, Look through these pharm notes on the PASSNCLEX notes. They will help you immensely on the pharm questions. Also, You must learn testing strategies. I know that is easier said than done, BUT you have to start to answer tons of NCLEX practice questions. By that, I mean go on to the NSCBN NCLEX website and sign up for their 3 week course. It is $50.00. I know you dont want to spend the money, but it will be worth it when you pass. Trust me please, I was not an A nursing student. I got mostly B's and C's in school. YOU CAN PASS!!! Get used to answering a ton of questins and go through the rationale and why the other options are wrong. Also,. look for a pattern in the questions. On my Nclex, I noticed a pattern. After taking the NSCBN online course, and also doing the Saunders 6th edtion Select all that apply questions, I ended up getting very familiar questions on the Nclex that I had seen already... Please trust me, I puked in the bathroom before the exam and got an hour of sleep the day before because I was so nervous. Keep calm, take a breathe and know that the more nervous you are, the harder it will be for you to stay focused. ~ANSWER NCLEX QUESTIONS ON NSCBN WEBSITE ~BUY THE SAUNDERS 6TH EDITION BOOK, USE THE CD AND ANSWER THE SELECT ALL THAT APPLY QUESTIONS AND THE DRAG AND DROP QUESTIONS!! ~~~~~PLEASE REMEMBER!! NCLEX IS NOT BASED ON CONTENT AS MUCH AS IT IS ON PRIORITY/DELEGATION, SAFETY AND EFFECTIVE CARE, AND MANAGEMENT.~~~~~~ PLEASE PLEASE FOCUS ON SAFETY QUESTIONS, AND STANDARD OF CARE QUESTIONS. FOCUS ON ISOLATION PRECAUTIONS FOR TB, SCABIES, PNEUMONIA, ETC. WHAT DO YOU NEED BEFORE GOING INTO THAT PATIENTS ROOM? MASK, GLOVES?? ARE THEY CONTACT PRECAUTION OR ARE THEY AIRBORNE?? WHAT DO YOU WEAR WITH CONTACT PRECATION OR AIRBORNE?? FOCUS ON THESE THINGS!!! I know how stressed you are and how scary it is. Trust me. But know in your heart that you passed nursing school, and you have the compassion and drive to want to do this career. Email me if i can help you any further.

Tiffany phamacology notes
Just so you guys know, they notes helped me with the pharm portion, but every test is different, and i passed by learning strategies.. and the most serious side effects that would kill your patient first.. this is what helped me pass.. some of the drugs u will find on nclex wont be on here... as the most common ones are listed, but it helps you to know by the name of the drug, what kind of drug u are dealing with. so instead of memorizing all the drugs and considerations, etc.. you have to learn how to categorize the drugs by their names and know their main side efffects and considerations...

My NCLEX-RN review scores
MSU-RORTELLI ... i also took kaplan, answered all the questions, qbanks, all tests, etc... I even did them a few times over.. I got lower scores than you.. sometimes i would get 48% on kaplan, to 68% was my highest on one exam... DONT WORRY. I took the nclex yesterday, got the good pop up, so im pretty sure i passed.. but let me tell you, Kaplan is way harder than the Nclex questions... Kaplan is trying to prepare you for the strategies to answer the questions. focus mainly on priority and delegation for kaplan. that helped me the most and I think it helped me pass cuz it seemed like those were all the questions I was getting.. and those are considered "higher level questions" that you get when you are passing.... Good luck to you.. and dont do what i did before the exam and puke in the bathroom

Need some help - Hurst, NCSBN or EXAM CRAM?
Ar- i tried messagin you back but it said that your mailbox is full and cant accept anymore messages.... I studied for a total of 3 weeks. For the first week, i studied for 6-8 hours.. i answered a million kaplan and nscbn questions, took notes, wrote rationales and asked myself WHY that was the correct answer instead of the others I had chosen. I think a big part of nclex is testing strategy . they ask you a lot of the same questions in different format... Then the last 2 weeks.. i studied for about 10 hours a day.. answering nclex, Saunders questions, reading my notes, and doing nscbn questions... then the last 3 days, i studied 10 hours a day from morning till night, and freaked out the morning of the exam at about 3am and studied more till about 7am... just answering questions and memorizing drug stuff.. send me your email so i can send u the notes..

Hey B- did u take it today? or yesterday? do u know u passed from the PVT trick? I took it today and got the apparent "good pop up" but im still skeptical... cuz i did 75 questions and felt like i failed it.. i thought kaplan was was harder than the actual nclex

Need some help - Hurst, NCSBN or EXAM CRAM?
Just took my exam today. Ive never tried hurst, but i can swear by NSCBN. The questions I answered on management of care and delegation and priority were IDENTICAL to the test.... It was awesome.. so were the Select all that apply, the pictures they offer, and the ordered response.. try not to stuff yourself with lots of content. thats what i did wrong and i lost weight and sleep over nothing. the NCLEX is all about basic care.. im telling you.. please believe me... the most content you get is having to know pharmacology.. like drugs and when and how to take them, etc. Hope this helps you.. try to breath and sit in the chair and turn in to the ZEN MASTER!!

Nclex overwhelming me!
ssk- I took it today and I know exactly how you feel!! I cried my eyes out in the bathroom before taking it.. the scary part is that u dont know what to expect!! im telling you right now.. focus on basic care. What would you expect to see in a patient with swelling? who would u see first? Who do u delegate certain jobs too. You will be ok!! I know its hard to believe, and trust me, i know how sick you feel.. i really really do.. i shook the whole way down there and had a hard time holding my mouse because i was so scared!!! Do practice questions on NSCBN website!!!!!!

"The GOOD POP UP"
Ok, ok... so I know this has been talked about a million times over... but i still just cant believe it. I got 75 questions and feel like i only knew 20 of them... Literally got home 30 minutes later and saw this: "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time." Is this completely accurate. Is it too soon to tell? could it be a mistake??? Is this the same exact message people who pass get?? I just have cried, and sweat blood for this test and this career and im going off of 1 hour of sleep here" Sorry to anyone who is sick of talking about the good pop ups... Im just so incredibly shocked that I passed it. I literally cried in the bathroom before taking the exam.

What Helped Me Pass the NCLEX
I thought I would share my NCLEX story with you guys after taking it today. After crying frantically in the bathroom before the test, and getting one hour of sleep last night, CRAMMING, STUDYING, ANSWERING A MILLION QUESTIONS AND PRAYING TO THE LORD JESUS, I took the exam and after 75 questions my computer went blue. I freaked out and said to myself, "OH MY GOD I FAILED! THERE IS NO WAY I PASSED THAT IN 75QUESTIONS!! Well, after crying on the way home and feeling like crap, I logged in when I got home and saw this pop up on my screen, "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time." So.. I can assume that means I Passed??? Im not sure yet though. But I will say this... The NCLEX is not as hard as KAPLAN!! By hard, I mean not as detailed!! NCLEX IS VERY VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD. I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING THE NSCBN QUESTIONS***** THEY ARE MUCH MUCH MORE LIKE THE ACTUAL NCLEX QUESTIONS!! I took the kaplan course and did all the Tests, and all the Qbank questions they had. It prepared me for one thing; being able to know delegation and prioritization. KAPLAN DOES NOT OFFER ANY EKG READINGS, POSITION CHANGES FOR CERTAIN PROBLEMS, OR SKIN RASHES OR SORES THAT YOU CAN SEE ON NCLEX. The NCLEX is more focused on basic care. I cant believe the questions I got that seemed so based on simply concepts that I just simply did not remember. Maybe they were from 1st semester nursing school? As my test progressed, I kept getting priority questions, delegation, and SATA. Which apparently are the higher level questions. I did get many SATA, (Which were not that bad) , Drag and Drops(which i always hated), and EKG's and one math calc. I was shaking the entire time and was running off one hour after CRAMMING. Which, in my case, worked for me and was a great strategy because I was able to stay fresh and confident minus my lack of sleep and courage. My advice to you. The NCLEX is different for everyone. Dont kill yourself trying to remember a million meds, or crying when your KAPLAN scores arent great. Saunders was great for SATA and drag and drops, pictures, sounds you may hear, ekgs, etc. The KAPLAN does not offer all these resources. Try to focus on basic care first. As in, What would you expect to see first? What are common early signs of a certain disease process? If you want to email me for my notes I used, or have any questions, feel free... Thank you to danceandnurse (joanne) for sending me emails and tips and tricks to pass. She sent me countless emails and study guides that helped. I dont know how i would have gotten though without her. She is a godsend. Please email her or send her a message to, she can help you so much..... One last thing, I dont think not cramming helps for everyone, it depends on how you learn. Additionally, I have extra material that will help you pass the NCLEX if you want it, and im also selling my SAUNDERS NCLEX 6TH EDITION book for cheap cheap if anyone wants it. Also, I will send you the notes and anything else I had that helped me to pass. I will tell you this, dont stress so much over it. If you know Priority, delegation, and can tell for signs of patient decline you would do fine. I am not someone who doesnt need to study. I have to study a lot in order to be successful. Please trust me when I tell you, dont study a million meds.. You dont even know what you will see on the test. Relax and breathe before you take it.. your nerves will prohibit you from thinking clearly. I had to put my head down several times to detach... The whole test was a blur and the questions go by so quick when every question is holding your license in its hands... USE: KAPLAN, SAUNDERS, NSCBN (which i signed up for the 3 week course) AND MY EXTRA NOTES THAT IM WILLING TO SEND YOU.. Keep your heart in it and read rationales and go back to basic nursing care!!!
