I order my wife Dansko's twice year from Amazon (from research on this site)... Work great for her 12hour shifts, much more supportive than tennis shoes for her. She got her first pair locally to get the correct size. They're $110-130 per pair, but well worth it...also compression socks from Ames Walker.

I realize this is long after the fact...but am I the only one who feels that "grandma" has an axe to grind? sheesh...great way to show your daughter how much you care about her. It's all about your pain about not seeing your grandson, and what a horrible person your daughter is, and trying to get her "caught" instead of helping her. I've got a feeling there was a lot more to this story, even if there was addiction involved. I'm sure a child (even an adult child) reading "grandma's website" would just feel the love and come rushing back into the author's "loving arms".

To the op, I would highly recommend some business, business law, and accounting classes at least at your local comm. college if you don't already have these under your belt. I hope you have some real world business experience as well. Too many people "go into business" with no business plan or experience and are then shocked when reality slaps them upside the face after the business fails. You would really help yourself by going to work in another bake shop for 2-3 years to learn not only the "trade" but the business aspect if the owner was willing to share that with you. (don't expect someone with whom you might be considered a competitor to open their books to you though). Go in with open eyes. Good luck! (honest)

Irregardless of the profession, yelling is pretty much considered unprofessional (oil rigs, mining, construction sites etc., not withstanding). Consider it bad behavior by someone who doesn't posses good management skills...at least, not yet. You don't ever need to feel like being yelled "at" (as opposed to being yelled "to"), is an acceptable behavior. Sounds like you have a good attitude, though. Schtuff happens.

That is something as a "non" nurse, that I was thinking. How does a charge nurse manage/help, with the same load as the nurses she is supposed to help?

If any new student reads this, GET A TECH job while still in school. This will give you the BEST chance of being hired. This isn't the same card, so do some looking around...BUT...they were $20-30, and they stand out. Hand them out to EVERYONE. It's not the end of the world raindrop (nice, by the way). You just sound like "it" has gotten to you...and you reacted....happens all the time, in all ranges of employment. In the interest of handling things better (if you warrant), what would you do differently, given the same situation? (remember, you're being "perfect", lol). How about if you were the charge nurse in this situation? (again, being "perfect", and un-biased). And yes, I know, none of us are perfect.

A couple more paragrahp spaces would be nice. But yes, as you wrote it, you do come across as a bit unprofessional, at least in what you've written. And that's coming from a carpenter, if it makes it easier to take.

Just another post in regards to the PVT, it worked well on this end. Swmbo had her test @ 8:00 a.m. yesterday, about 45 minutes from home in Atlanta traffic. My brother and I drover her, so she didnt' have to stress on the way in and waited in the parking lot for her (took plenty of good reading material). Of course, she came out 4 hours later (185 questions?) a nervous wreck, even after studying for more than a year, while still in NS and very heavily after graduation on 7/31. We got home about an hour later and I got the "good pop-up" on PV and showed swmbo, and also explained/had her read some posts. She was a little relieved, but not a whole lot. I "knew" due to all the posts here, that she was good to go, so I wasn't worried, but I also understood her skepticism. Fast forward 12-18 hours later (this a.m.)....viola...her RN licenses is already posted on the Sec. of State site.....oh yeah! Called her at work with the news, and loved to hear the relief/happiness in her voice. The PVT DOES work. Thanks to all who have posted prior to my post. We now have the 9th RN in our family.
