  1. breezy! can you ask him about the point system like what gets you 10 points for the TEAS and GPA because I'm not sure who to ask.
  2. @mybebe001, are you applying for ACE or traditional?
  3. how do we send our scores?
  4. aww i wish we could've met! I got a 92 the first time but i decided to retake it because my science was lower than the rest of my scores plus im only a freshman and ill be competing with other students with the same or better GPA and have more pre-reqs completed than i do. i hope i did well this time. im nervous to see my score! do you know when our scores will be posted?
  5. i was in the second row! i was soo tired too but i didn't think it was too bad. you choose the one you want them to see on the application so it doesnt really matter. :)
  6. hey breezy! i took it today again too. where were you sitting? and do you know if our scores are automatically sent to gsu since we took it there?
  7. Does ATI directly send it to the school you are applying to? I'm always paranoid that my scores will get lost. Also do any of you guys know if you need to have SPECIFIC classes done before i'm allowed to apply?
  8. I think your schedule is too much. It's 17 credit hours. Do you work as well? Doesn't each math class require 3 hours a week at the MILE? I think you should drop a math.
  9. Where I live ADN programs are just as competitive as the BSN programs. There are so many people that want to get into nursing now so they only let the best of the best get in. Some look at overall GPA and some only look at pre-req GPA. you really need to retake those sciences and get A's in everything to be competitive.
  10. I think that sounds like a good schedule! You really need a 4.0 in all those Fall classes and a high TEAS score. Cause those are the only grades the advisors will see and give you points for. I'll be applying for fall 2012 too, hopefully we both get in! :)
  11. Ummm well I'm only a pre-nursing student but I can sort of answer your question. No, it's not going to be easy to find a job after you graduate. There is a huge glut of new grad nurses and I know a new nurse who graduated in 2009 and still can't find a job. Hospitals don't want to "waste" their money training new grad nurses cause its expensive so they usually only want to hire nurses with at least 1 year of experience. If you look at the board on here First Year after Nursing Licensure, you'll see what I'm talking about. However, I've read that it's easier to find a job after graduation if you work in the hospital during school.
  12. Oh yeah i know some professors do that if you show how interested you are/how much you need the class. I'm taking robertson for English. btw what do you know about FLC's? Were you in one? I joined the Pre-Nursing 1 FLC so I had all the classes reserved for me already. I liked it because they save the best times for us and apparently give us the best professors. I'm kind of worried that I'll be bored being with the same 25 people.
  13. you need to check constantly, because i always see people dropping classes. I'll be taking A+P 1, Chem 1, English 1 and College Algebra. I'm so excited to begin. We'll be in the same class if you get into Anatomy!
  14. Congrats! Are you going to take your pre reqs at gsu? Cause I am starting this fall and we might be taking a class together.
  15. I'm pretty sure that community college is much cheaper than georgia state. You could always take your pre reqs in a cheaper place and then transfer.
  16. Well if you start taking your science pre-reqs this fall then you can apply in march for the fall 2012 traditional program.
  17. Well if you do Traditional then your schedule will look like this, EXCEPT it will only be nursing classes since you're done with all your general core classes. http://chhs.gsu.edu/nursing/falltraditionalplan1.htm You would have to reapply to GSU as a "degree seeking undergraduate" and then apply to the program. When you apply into the program they only look at your pre-requisite grades I believe. Both programs are EXTREMELY competitive so your pre-requisite grades have to be stellar and your TEAS score has to be high too.
  18. You could always do the GSU accelerated program. It requires way more pre-reqs but the program lasts about a year and a 1/2 with no breaks. I've heard that GSU's program is AMAZING. Or you could do traditional where the only pre-reqs you have left to take would be A&P 1 and 2, Chem1&2 and Microbiology. Either way is good.
  19. So hospitals in Atlanta are actually hiring new grads?
  20. Congratulations! Do you have any tips on how to land your first nursing job?
  21. I say go for your BSN. It will make you more competitive in the hiring process. I don't know about your area but in my state ADN nurses are having a hard time getting hired. The economy sucks right now so maybe by the time you finish with your BSN it will get better.
  22. Just because we are young "kids" doesn't mean we are excused from cheating. A lot of the people my age really annoy me because they don't bother to study, cheat and then get caught. But later blame that it's because they are young, stupid and their brain hasn't fully developed. Anyway back to the topic. If you are dumb enough to cheat then you should pay the consequences. End of story.
  23. 18 credit hours in a summer? Thats a lot even for a regular semester. You won't learn if we give you the answers to basic A&P questions. Open your book and start studying!
  24. Definitely get your BSN. I see a lot of people on here say that getting your ADN is cheaper and you can just get your employer to pay for your BSN. But you need to be realistic, with this economy new grads are having a hard time even getting hired. Employers might have paid for your BSN back then but that is no longer true. I think getting your BSN will make you more competitive plus you can get more experience as a cna which will look better when you are applying for jobs.
  25. But you are assuming that the bsn new grad has no experience. If both the adn and bsn grad have the same healthcare experience and volunteer hours wouldn't they most likely choose the bsn? At least that's how it is around my area.
