George Washington University AGNP Fall 2016 program?
Good morning. I will be joining the Fall cohort for AGPCNP. I'm exited and nervous. I live just outside of Baltimore and would definitely be interested in chatting with anyone else attending. I've already paid my deposit and reserved a room for orientation in August. I look forward to hearing from anyone! My ADN class had (and still has) a private FB page. It's extremely helpful IMHO. Chamberlain FNP 2015 (looking for previous & new students)
Hi RNBSN9. I too have applied for July 2016 admission. I am looking at 3 schools. I am graduating CCN with my BSN in April so I am familiar and happy with CCN. I am curious about graduation stats...do you know anything? I live in Maryland so I will begin looking for clinical preceptors ASAP just to see what's out there.

Chamberlain FNP 2015 (looking for previous & new students)
Hi thwilliams85. I also live in MD (White Marsh area) and have applied for July admission. I am looking at UMD DNP program and GWU as well. Did you have a problem finding clinical sites? I think that might be a deciding factor. I am graduating from CCN with my BSN in april. Thanks

Can't get into school because of statistics :(
Do yo still have this excel program? I would love to see it. Also did you utilize any books outside of your required text? I am looking at some "dummy" type books for additional help. My class starts next week and it looks like I'll be having back surgery during the semester so I am trying to get a "jump" on reading and implementing. I must graduate on time in April...Thanks! Lauren

Graduates from CCBC's RN Program... Help!
I am a recent (May 2013) grad of CCBC. I have to tell you honestly that the program is difficult in ways that it doesn't have to be. The majority of the classroom instructors are difficult to deal with and teach to their own knowledge not that of the real world of nursing. I found my clinical instructors were ok and challenged me regularly (in a good way). I hate to recommend this program to anyone BUT... I was completely and overly prepared for my NCLEX (I also took Hurst, which I really liked). I, as well as the majority of my class, passed in 75 questions. While I did tech for about 6 months, the clinical experience that I got at CCBC really prepared me to be on a unit. One of my clinical instructors helped me get an interview and I was hired within weeks of passing my boards. I don;t believe that any other program (BSN or ADN) gives you as much clinical experience as CCBC. I look back on my experience as a hazing and I think that the program can definitely be run better but you will be completely prepared for anything that comes your way. You just have to keep your head down and get through the two years. I graduated, passed my boards, got a great job that I love, and am already starting on my BSN in January. You can do it...just commit and don't look back!!

CCBC Fall 2013 Nursing Applicants
I am about to graduate from the E/W program. Just a few weeks away. Hard to believe...anyway. I have books for sale if anyone is interested. I have the books you'll need for fundamentals (2 of them) along with the videos, the nursing diagnosis handbook, the fundamentals success book (critical thinking) and the dosage calculations book. Mine are in amazing condition with no marks. I'll sell them for $100 to the first person who wants them. I live in White Marsh. Let me know. I am posting them on Criagslist as well so when they go, they go. Good luck to you all.

Student Needs Surgery
Nope, they won't do a block that high. Space is too narrow from the herniation and they are concerned about more damage.

The rolling backpack debate
I have a Zuca that I love, love, love. I also have a herniated C5/6. I wish I had gotten the Zuca long ago!

Student Needs Surgery
I am just beside myself right now...I have a badly herniated C5/6 that needs surgery. My right arm is numb and tingling, I am in a lot of pain, and ...oh yeah...I'm in my second to last semester in school. I should graduate (God willing) in May. I really need to have the surgery now - but the recovery is 4-6 weeks (realistically I will miss about 1-2 weeks of school; 4-6 of work). I am not sure how to approach my instructors and ask for some give with the clinical assignments. My fellow students will definitely help me with the notes and such. If I have to postpone the surgery until December, than that is what I'll have to do - but it will be excruciating. Any suggestions on how to approach my instructors? Thanks in advance! Lauren

CCBC - N/W Fall 2012 Applicants
Congrats to everyone! Now the fun begins....hahahaha! Be careful what you wish for. This is going to be an incredibly challenging and immensely rewarding time for all of you. I just finished (last night) my first full year in the program. It actually goes by much quicker than you think. Again, be good to each other. Lauren

CCBC - N/W Fall 2012 Applicants
Hi, everyone. I am currently finishing my 1st year in the E/W program. I was in your shoes this time last year - and it seems like that was a lifetime ago. The last few days before finding out are torture and just when you think that torture is over - you have paperwork, and background checks, and physicals, and books, and meetings, and, and, and....and then the real work begins...class. Enjoy as much of the summer as you can - you won't be enjoying a whole lot of anything for a while. The time goes by really quickly and you have to make the most of the time that you have - study hard. Become hyper-organized. Being OCD is absolutely your friend. Find a study buddy and really work together - no more than 3 of you in a group. It gets too confusing. My best and biggest piece of advice...be good to each other. I am sure that you will hear about my group when you enter....we are very "yeah YOU!" There is nothing that we won't do for each other to help each other out. Go into this positively and you will hopefully come out (relatively) unscathed. I wish you all the best of luck! Be careful what you wish for... Lauren

What are you carrying all your books in?
I posted this under tha pack mule heading too... I have a copy paper box (the library), a ZUCA and a backpack. All books are kept in the library in my truck. If I need multiple books they'll travel in the ZUCA, if I need one or two they'll go by backpack. All end up in the library for storage and easy accessibility. I am a bit of an over-thinker but it saves my back!

starting Fall 2011 - who we are
8/16 Maryland RN Buy good shoes, invest in caffeine (5-hour energy), better to shoot for the moon and miss then aim for the gutter and get a bullseye! As much as I would like to say that I am doing this for my family (and I am), I am most definitely doing this for me! I am worth it!

I may need a pack mule!!
I have decided on the multi-pack method. I have a copy paper box (the library), a ZUCA and a backpack. These are all kept in my truck. All books are kept in the library. If I need multiple books for class/studying I will transport in the ZUCA. If I need one or two and a notebook, I'll use the backpack. They all end up in the truck and I can pick and choose what I need and when but at least they are always around. I have probably over-thought the entire thing but it works for me and saves my back! I have heard of people de-binding their books but I am keeping mine intact - easier to put in the bookshelf later.

CCBC, Fall 2011 Applicants =)
RNVegan - we have to have mumps, measles, rubella, varicella, HepB (there is a waiver to sign but the titres have to be run) and proof of current tetorifice. There is a brief health form that has to be completed by a PA, NP, or MD. Nothing major.
