  1. I will start my first semester of the Adult NP program @ Univ. of Maryland on Aug. 28. I will be taking Patho AND Pharm!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. GW is not accredited
  3. Maybe you could also consider clinical trials/research
  4. i took the gre on friday. unofficial scores- 450 verbal, 470 math. is anyone applying to Univ of MD? Just wondering if they interview applicants for the Adult NP program?
  5. This website might help you out : http://www.centerwatch.com/index.html i work in hypertension, diabetes, lipids research (metabolic sydrome)..good luck in your new job..there's lots of work to do =)
  6. I had an idea that Bowie's program didn't really have everything together. Just by going on to their school website, you can't even find any information about the MSN program. All it tells you is who to contact. Anways, I checked out marymounts program also. Is it true that you have to have a Virginia nursing license as an admission requirement?? How is the program so far? Do you enjoy it? What about out of state fees? Did you consider going to Univ of MD in the past?
  7. what school do you go to pocahontas? i'm working on the application process/researching Univ of MD for Adult NP..
  8. wow christvs, congratulations!!..you've gotten over that big hurdle that many of us are scared to take on. how did you prepare for the exam? is anyone on here using the number2.com website that helps you prepare for the GRE? if so, did you find it helpful? i don't want to waste my time on the site if its not going to help me one bit. I really want to do okay on this test so i can get in to the clinical research management program @ univ. of MD.
  9. I currently work in clinical trials as a coordinator in hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia research. I am stronly considering going back to school for my masters. I enjoy working in this specialty. But I am looking forward to furthering my education and advancing in my career. I just graduated from nursing school in 2004 with my BSN. Now I can't decide between Research or Informatics MSN. I don't plan on conducting my own research but I work with doctors who are the principal investigators for the studies. I am interested in the booming informatics speciality and its expected rise in the future. I need some ideas on how I can connect what I do now, to informatics in the future. I know informatics can be of great use to hypertension and diabetes care. I know I am the only one who can make this decision, but it would greatly help to hear some input from graduates of Clinical Research Management or Informatics.
  10. Since I work in diabetes/hypertension research, do you think it would be more relevant to get a masters in CNS rather than Research?
  11. I currently work in diabetes/hypertension research. I look forward to going back to school for my masters. Is anyone else on here a Diabetes CNS? Where do you currently work in? Where can I find an accredited online masters program? I know Graceland has a program. Do i need to obtasin CDE certification first?
  12. Is anyone currently admitted at Graceland for the CNS/Nurse Educator program? I am interested in it and want to hear how its going ..
  13. I've been reading about a master's program for clinical research administration. Have you thought about pursuing a masters in this specialty?
  14. How much heparin is the patient getting? I put extra gauze over the bandaid to help stop bleeding and put plastic tape over it. it seems to work really good, and the patient does not bleed as much after dialysis.
  15. nursing IS a hard job. i thought i was the only one who had to take benadryl just to sleep. i try my best to fall asleep on my own, but the tossing and turning, and my tachycardic heart does not make it any easier. so i have to resort to taking 1/2 a benadryl. by the time it kicks in i only get 2 hrs of sleep to work a 14 hr day...wth?!??
  16. Just wondering if anyone is pursuing nephrology as their NP specialty, or perhaps may know someone who already is one. Please share any experiences, advice or words of wisdom.
  17. I was in acutes earlier this year and I hated it. We only had 5 machines in our unit and we were forced to push machines down to the ICU or in to the patients' rooms. I hated the fact that it would take all day and all night (probably until 10 or 11) just to get all the patients done since there were only 5 machines in the unit. Anyway, after having enough of that I decided to do chronics. You get to see the same patients, every other day. But I think it gets to the point where everything is just predictable. You already know what they are going to say to you before they walk in the door. You already know and expect them to start "faking the cramps" so they can cut their treatment time, when even then they already started their treatment late because they couldnt get to the clinic on time. I'm just tired of how everything is solely based on time. Everything is always rushed, which leads all of us to getting burned out so easily. Holidays are the worse, when we have to wake up@ 3 just so we can start setting up at 4 am since its July 4, Memorial Day, etc. We get no type of enjoyment out of a holiday except for time and a half. But again we are too burned out to enjoy the rest of the day. I don't know where I will be going from here. I wanted to go back to school for my master's but I'm unsure.I would like to go into PACU . I've been sending out my resume and filling out applications and haven't heard from anyone yet. I am about to give up .
  18. I've only been in dialysis since January and I'm already tired of it for the same reasons you have mentioned. I'm looking for other job opportunities but I am having no luck. I'm especially tired of waking up early and working on holidays.
  19. dansko professional put an end to my search for the perfect nursing shoe
  20. in MD, dialysis nurse with 4 months experience, started at $27/hr . just graduated may 2004

  23. BSNgrad2004 posted a topic in Emergency
i just applied for a job at Childrens National Medical Center in wash,d.c. in the ER. I currently work in chronic hemodialysis and prior to that i was working in med-surg/peds. I've been a nurse for almost a year now. To those of you who work in PEDS ER, can you tell me what its like? I just want to get an idea of what the job entails and if you enjoy your job.
  24. Gambro employees: Just about everyone knows about the switch to Davita. But is there anyone else out there whose clinic has been "divested" - who will not become Davita? We just found out today that our clinic will be sold to another company , once a buyer has been determined. Apparently, there is a Davita clinic down the street from us which is part of the reason we won't become Davita. We are all shocked. So the search is on for a buyer and other "options" about where to work. There are other Gambro clinics all over the country who has become divested. Our clinic will not close, we will just be under another company...while I start to look at other jobs =P
  25. i am interested in going back to school for NI. just wondering if this internship program occurs annually?
