One more thing I did not like about the Saudi/ UAE. They pay the nurses according to the colour of passport. If you come from India or the Philippines the pay is so much less. I'm a nordic and this kind of thing is just a red flag. Bad policy. BTW. Which company do you interview with?

Having worked in both Saudi and UAE - I might consider going back to Saudi Arabia. UAE experience was bad because of a very bad hospital/ nursing management. It would be good to talk to someone who actually works there at the moment. In that particular hospital. You'll have tons of people accessing ED for all kinds of ridiculous reasons. Ability to self care is nonexistent. Then again - people come to the ED for stupid reasons here, too and expect to have top service and no waiting. Monthly pay approx 14500 riyals/ 3800 USD per month. Tax free. Usually you don't pay for housing and utilities. Just PM if you want details.

This is good news. Touchy time though. They are in the middle of a huge industrial action at the moment. 13 000 unionized nurses left their resignations after their demands for a justified pay increase was not met. They're hoping to settle by the 20th November and I have a feeling the nurses are not backing out this time. The cost of living is high as in all the nordic countries. Monthly pay for a RN is approx USD2600. After the taxman takes 35+% and you pay rent and utilities there*s not much left. But it is a lovely country - clean, small population, low crime, good healthcare.

I know two and they're both great ER physicians.

Thank you so much for your reply. I apologise, I was not quite clear. The agency I referred to is an agency staffing the hospital from the UK. RNs are employed by the RIH and the agency is just the middle man. I noticed there are no ER vacancies at RIH at the moment - well, not according to their website anyway.

Been using MEDITECH for four months now. It's nothing too complicated, rather repetitive. What annoys me is that it does not flow at all and you end up having to put the same information in several different places. I can't say I hate it but there probably are better programmes for ED.

I have only ever seen one case of rabies - and this was in Sudan. Nursing care = comfort care - basic nursing care, what you want to call it.

I'm here on EAD. My file is with Texas. I noticed in the USCIS case status my I-140 was received November 1st 2006. They are now processing September 2006. Meaning? The I-485 the same thing - received 11/01/2006 and at present processing 09/13/2006. I noticed the last update on the file was dated today. Meaning? According to the attorney they have not requested visascreen yet. Still with her. I would like to think I need not doubt her. My concern is - and I apologise if I'm asking a question already answered somewhere on the forum. This retrogression situation - how does it affect the AOS processing? I'm so tired of hearing rumours *I think this is how it is but ... you know my friend in the XXX said that the XXX... and she's been waiting for XXX...* My attorney says she has not received notifications of delayed processing. I'm getting antsy because things at work have changed somewhat. There was a huge change in systems in the beginning of the year, which led to a large number of nurses resigning from their posts. We are completely relying on travelers and chronically short of staff resulting in having 5-6 patients per RN. We no longer have techs or LVN. I cannot remember the last time I was able to have lunch and carry my stash of carbs in my pocket. The pay is great but It's all spiralling out of control and frankly I want to get out before I lose my license. Pls advise.

Contact Helsinki Polytechnic Institute / known as Stadia Ammattikorkeakoulu. They are more likely to be familiar with dealing with international degrees. The further you go to the sticks the less likely it is, they have dealt with anything international. Good luck!

What about not using the EAD say like until half a year has passed? Would it still be valid providing the employer does not mind?

I have been dealing with them for quite some time now. My VSC was issued on Sept 29th and posted standard groundmail. Two weeks later I called them and I was advised that they post it bulk and it is expected to take four weeks to arrive. Now this is in the US. No show in four weeks as expected. I'm calling them again and asking for a new one to be mailed. Just as advised. Well, now another person tells me the complete opposite. Right of course I would have lost it myself... seriously? So I'm asking to speak to the supervisor, lets call her N, who comes to the phone with her mouth full and gives me rather vague answers of the procedure to get all this fixed. Either email or send a letter asking for a new VSC and state the reasons why I need a new one. Too easy. I email them not once but twice. And get a reply that my case is special. The supervisor has put a note in my file that email will not do but I need to mail them a request with my signature. Right. I am calling them again and ask to speak to the supervisor who refuses to speak to me. They give me an email address to the office manager "asydnoar", whom I am supposed to email if i want anything done. I'm spelling it back to them twice. It just turns out that the email address is not valid. Well, did I really expect it to be? Seriously?? A bunch of office morons who have taken passive aggressiveness to an extraordinary level. Needless to say I still haven't got my VSC - but I'm actually beyond caring and looking fwd to going home. What was I thinking in the first place??? Enough.

I've just read an article on nurse impostors taking advantage of the nursing shotage, I can't remember which nursing magazine. In this case the BON not only reported the impostor but he was fined, plus paid court costs and was sentenced to one year in jail plus two in supervised probation.
