What a great summation. I didn't even consider that LVNs aren't recognized over there. 800K nurses out of work? my goodness. Some california economists are projecting the the hire rate will go up in the first quarter of next year. Hopefully it does.

It's sort of an interesting situation here in CA because of the large number of Filipino nurses who came to CA looking for high-paying nursing salaries have been really hurt by the economy.
  3. I don't really think so. I gathered that she risking speaking out because she didn't want him being portrayed as a junkie looking to score but a man who needed rest for a 50-concert tour. Also considering all the plastic surgery MJ's had he could have developed a desire to 'fade into the black' of anesthesia. From the article: "He wasn't looking to get high or feel good and sedated from drugs," she said. "This was a person who was not on drugs. This was a person who was seeking help, desperately, to get some sleep, to get some rest."
  4. Funny..I didn't get that from her comment.
  5. Make studying at the library your routine and leave the whiny man-bot at home to slam his own doors.. :icon_roll
  6. Hey guys, how do they rank you according to the waitlist? Is it the higher gpa you have?
  7. LiLOncRN, you are just to cool for school.
  8. If you need more help with math google "the math tutor dvd" by Jason Gibson. It's worth every penny. I went from not knowing how to do long division and fractions to a B in Algebra 2 and an A in Stats.
  9. You guys are seriously motivating me to start a walking club during breaks at school.
  10. 1a. Breathe. 1b. Go to your state's website for the Board of Registered Nursing. 2. Look at the list of approved schools 3. Google those schools that interest you. Visit school's dept. of nursing website to answer your questions regarding waitlist, pre-reqs, GPA etc. 3a. If the school's dept of nursing is vague about the application process and recommends you attend an information meeting, attend said meeting to have all your questions answered. 3b. If you can't go to the informational sessions or there aren't any scheduled for a while, call the nursing dept contact person to have some questions answered. 4. Expect to wait if you plan to go to state schools. 5. Do not plan on being able to repeat any core pre-reqs for a higher grade. if you can't make your grades, don't take too many classes at once in an attempt to save time. Hope this calmed you down :)
  11. There's a difference between being judgemental and bringing correction and wise judgement into a situation. For most of my 2 year lurkdom it just seems like people are simply overly opinionated and could stand to not be less so.
  12. Where I work now, we have two people who are apparently in love after cheating on both their spouses; subsequently moving in together shortly thereafter. That's not the worst. The guy's daughter works here and has to witness all the lunchtime jaunts to the local Motel 6. When he dumps her, (which he will because he has even propositioned me, almost prompting a sexual harassment issue) there will be even more drama than before to be reluctantly witnessed by all of us here.
  13. hmm..looks like you've already found therapist! ^ Anyway I'm sure you'll get a couple fingers shaken at you on this board but I'm going to say I understand how you must feel. The floor you work on is not easy and you are being put in situations that would test ANYBODY. I have worked around all blue-collar type men for a lot of my career and understand that a lot of them cuss like sailors so I can identify with you on that. I'm not going to judge you for telling the violent patient in frustration to "just take the effing meds". If most of us were honest we would admit we have thought about saying somethings that were not exactly professional more than once. Key word: "thought". Sounds like you learned your lesson here so I'll save the sermon. Do you think you could possibly go talk to someone while looking for other nursing positions that would better suit your personality?
  14. How do you feel your life has been put on hold? Is it because of "Ben"?
  15. I'm glad someone brought this up. When and if I do get into NS, I do not plan on giving up my workouts in any way. I'll simply have to make the time to take care of my body. Not an easy task in NS.
  16. Right. Good luck with whatever you do decide.
  17. Not trying to be harsh but I would really think hard about why I want to go to NS. People who are willing to sacrifice a great deal are chomping at the bit for your spot who want to do it for other reasons than the pay :) HTH
  18. Take the experience as a supervisor and excel at it my friend :)
  19. Yeah I was just about to suggest getting into an LVN program first with what you do have, then transitioning to RN from there. Don't give up! :)
  20. Long time lurker here.. It's unfair to assume the poster tolerates unethical behavior simply due to his/hers lack of a knee-jerk response to the situation. :) FYI: I don't cheat and don't respect the practice at all.
