  1. I have been wearing glasses for 39 years and I have never had the luxury of an extra pair of glasses. This would be a legitimate excuse for me!
  2. There is loads of help on Youtube! Look up nursing interview or just interview. I highly recommend Career Confidential! They gave me loads of help to field those interview questions! I went on 2 interviews and offered both positions! Practice, practice, practice the suggestions till the answers come out naturally! Good luck! You got this!
  3. Excellent points! There are 2 sides to every story!
  4. I live in VA and in my first year as an RN and I strongly believe in caring my own malpractice insurance. I believe only my personal insurer will have my best interests. I carry mine through my home owners insurance and it added less than $80/year for one million dollars in coverage.
  5. Just wanted to update: I Did find a job shortly after passing the NCLEX, I had 2 interviews and 2 job offers in the first week. I decided to take the job in dialysis and though it is a very stressful specialty I am glad I chose this offer over the geriatric psych hospital.
  6. I applied at several jobs before I was offered 2 positions. I went to each with a positive attitude and eager attitude to learn. In the end I was offered a position in a geriatric psych hospital and dialysis. I chose dialysis and though it is a tough specialty I am enjoying it.
  7. I've carried my screen name ChattyLill for many years, this is pretty self explanatory as I am Chatty and my name is Lillie. It was not until this past May that I was able to add the RN.
  8. As the mother of a child on life support and having to deal with nursing care for 20 years, having learned so much about her care I decided it was time to get myself to school make a career out of what I've done for the last 20 years. I love nursing!
  9. I have a child that is now 20 and has had a trach since 8 months of age. I only recently graduated with an associates degree RN. But for 20 years that has been a pet peeve of mine. I have never understood why they say stat instead of sat but I have bitten my tongue thus far. Thanks for posting what I couldn't say!
  10. Just wanted to send my congrats :yeah:to you! I am in Virginia and I received my license in about 1 week.
  11. Another investigative type! Got to love that in a nurse!
  12. You just have to be sure don't ya!
  13. OMG this is so on target! You described some of my classmates to a T! The know it all... LOL thankfully she left our class and went to another campus after the first year! Your description brought back some scary memories! I will graduate in May and I must say along with the annoyances I have made some of the BEST friends I have ever had! I hope we will forever stay friends! You have to take the bad with the good and learn how to navigate your way through it.
  14. I understand your frustration. I am in the same boat. I graduate next month and I have not one job offer. I am trying to stay positive and I pray all the time. I know in time the right job will come along. I wish you the best.
  15. Thank you for the info. I think I will just omit this from the PP. Thanks!
  16. I'd like your permission to use this prayer in my pinning ceremony power point, if that is OK with you. I've referred to it many times while in the RN program.
  17. That was a bad day for you as I recall. As one of the students that "left" you, I was sure with all of your LPN experience that you have acquired since you graduated LPN school, 1 1/2 years ago, that I would be of little assistance to you. I'm not an LPN and just a lowly RN student with very little experience. I'm sorry you felt abandoned by any of us and I for one didn't have a clue where you were while we (your classmates) were in post conference. Had someone let the instructor know that you had gone off the floor and the reason for going off the floor, perhaps she would have known what was going on. I for one did report off to my nurse before going to post-conference as I'm sure the other students did as well. It is quite possible that with all the confusion on the floor at the time they forgot that we had headed to post conference, or perhaps the person you spoke to was out of the loop. That happens a lot on the nursing floor as I'm sure you are aware working in the step down unit at the hospital were you are employed. By the time we came out of post conference and saw you in your patient room you had the primary nurse with you and had things under control at that time and we (your classmates) were no longer able to provide patient care as we had been pulled off the floor by our instructor. We could not take that liability as students as you well know. I'm truly sorry that this happened to you, however; you truly can not hold grudges with your classmates in this situation. That is my .
