  1. With regards to my college, the background check once submitted, if there is a problem with the background they have your contact information and will contact you. It was far easier to tell everyone they passed background check by "no news is good news". But my college told those parameters. Simple fix is call school ask what status of background check is.
  2. I laughed when you said it is Obamas fault due to its absurdity.
  3. Only you can perfect your own study habits. Some people like to study in groups. Group studying doesnt work for me. I have tried making note cards for a quarter, writing questions on ms word for a whole quarter, writing on paper, and now my study habits last 2 quarters have been none of above and i just reread pertinent information several times. My program is seven quarters long, and have one left to go :) So basically, you have to figure out what works for you.
  4. Those feelings are normal. Have faith in yourself and youll do great.
  5. I own a sportkbike and have had one eight years now. I have had two friends killed while riding in 07' and 08' and I have ridden virtually none since than. One highly experienced rider and the other had bike less than 2 weeks and both result of operator error. However, I still have fun riding and am looking to seadoos as a new hobby. Pedestrian fatalities shown above..thats amazing.
  6. The facility didnt support you from start, be glad your gone and look at as a new begining, not an end!
  7. 1. Nissan xterra...some of you prolly have one now :) 2. 2 seadoos...cant have just one thats no fun These be used purchases too...prolly around 2005 :) I graduate in december...6 months left! the end is near
  8. Hello, I will graduate this December 2010 with my RN. However, my school is up for its state acceditation renewl this October 2010. What happens if they fail? Does that mean I ****** 2yrs away for nothing and despite being 2months away from graduating. Is there a probation period if they fail?
  9. Well you did alot more thanme. Another guy and I for my clinical group did not get to partake in the Labor and Delivery unit, whiich I found very odd... we stayed at mother baby while the other women got to do rotation at LD. I did give some shots to the newborns. My first little pt was a trooper and easy, and my 2nd one was the winiest girl ever. I think there personalities are formed already...
  10. You get free pass for that and your intructors will continue to tell future students not to pass out..because it happens! Brush it off...its not like you faint during lectures or tests...or do you..wink winik
  11. In a classroom full of 70 students, classmate shouts and repeats confidently "28,000 ml/min" referring IV rate Needless to say I never say her again the following quarter...
  12. Good job. Im in same boat too. I have one final on monday, which will be easy! My LPN was 4 quarters long..glad its over with!
  13. Tuition is $ 1,100 a quarter. 4 quarters is LPN, 3 more for RN 1100 is high end, some quarter is 970bucks. books not included...one quarter spent 50bucks other spent zero Live in washington state.
  14. Pretty much cant go wrong with more studying :) Tomorrow my last clinical day and lecture exam this monday then im finnished with LPN (woo hoo). I get my final evaluation tomorrow and cant wait till day over! I get a few weeks off which is great then school starts again...this decemeber is RN if all goes well!
  15. Well youve accomplished one battle, that is getting in a program and meeting the requirements. Now comes the next battle, passing and staying in school! I felt the same way as you and was terrified of failing and letting my friends and family down or washing out. Just make school your life. Develop rock solid study habit. For me, it seemed like I put blood, sweat, and tears into studying and sometimes only barely passed the tests and other students did same thing but failed, putting so much effort and getting low grades is self esteem smasher to me. However, this might happen to you so just dig down deeper and study harder and never give up. And if it happens again, work even harder next time. Thats what I did and I am still alive and well in program! Best of luck!
  16. Well pretty much what everyone else here is saying. Lay low, dont stand out, blend in, as well as know everything that you should know or intructor expects you to know. My (guy) friend is also under heavy scrutiny of our current clinical intructor and on midterm evaluation she wrote a couple pages that were bulleted if he failed to complete or meet any those requirements he out of program, which she had him sign too. Some were as simple as forgetting to bring a watch to hospital. Him and I know the same amount and he got chosen and I had no complaints on mid evalauation. So beats me why some get picked on...theres enough stress as it is without someone waiting for you to make mistakes...anyways..hang in there buddy!
  17. My gut feeling is in five years most likely you can find a job somewhere in the united states with a bsn. Perhaps in five years i too will have a bsn. Who knows...only time will tell.
  18. I dont think it would be a big mistake to get their RN at community college. At least hospitals here in wa state are not brushing aside RN for BSN applicants. It varies vastly across the country for pay, demand, requirements, etc and all these post show a sliver of what is truly available. Happy hunting.
  19. Hey 39 is not old! Some of my ADN classmates are in there 40s and 50s. So you got plenty of time to work on your LPN and work towards your RN. Dont let your age hold you back! Skies the limit!
  20. Lost one guy this week, he fell below 78% on our 5 week class. Its ironic because he always outscored me by alot on all previous quarters. Were half way through 3rd quarter...one more quarter than LPN..so close...keeps me motivated!!
  21. theres 8 guys in my class. 1 guy in 50s, 4 guys in middle late 30's, youngest one is 23, and rest late 20s. as for women, theres 2 in 50yrs, some late 40yrs, and bulk of class is 30yrs somewhere, and other bulk is late 20s. theres couple that are 20, 21, 22 a definite minority i would say. there is a difinite age spread. my class has 70 students.
  22. woo hoo thats exciting!! January be here before you know it!
  23. My program there is 8 guys out 62 girls, 70 total. Im 27.
  24. Nursing school is a survival game. Every test, quiz, midterm, final is a potential to fail on top of skills evaulation. Not sure how other schools grading criteria is, but mine is right around 100 points for quarter which means extremely easy to fail. In my clinical group 3 of 9 are people who failed 3rd quarter and are retaking it again. Ive made it to 3rd quarter and its gone by fast! Just keep head down and study and be positive and stay focused and all should be well with of course manageable stress all along the way.
