  1. ~Uronurse1 Does Thomas Jefferson provide recorded lectures for all courses or just pharm, pathophys, and assessment courses for distance students in the online fnp program? I was just accepted to Thomas Jefferson University's FNP Program and am trying to decide between Thomas Jefferson and Frontier Nursing University.
  2. ~Fullmoon thank you for your advice as well!
  3. After much careful consideration I have officially decided to accept my place in the FNP Class of 127. ~Sweetfreedomgirl thank you so much for your input today. I have chosen Frontier because it is ranked 14th in the country; has a 99% first time board pass rate;has audio or video lectures for classes; and offers a DNP. At the end of the day it's a no brainer. I can't wait to meet everyone in Kentucky in June!
  4. I was just accepted! It looks like I have a decision to make. I was also accepted at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Has anyone had an opportunity to discuss the program with current students or graduates of Frontier? It seems like this should be a no brainer. I just don't want to make the wrong decision. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
  5. Is there any indication that we might be receiving decisions tomorrow? I can't wait to find out which school I'll be attending this summer so I can start making plans!
  6. Hi everyone! I'm waiting with you. I've been accepted to another program and am hoping to hear back from Frontier before I have to sign a tuition agreement with the program I have been accepted to. I'm also looking forward to solidifying my decision on which program I'll be attending. Hopefully Friday is the day we've all been waiting for:)
  7. I am currently in the process of completing my BSN this week. I am looking to apply to FNP programs next fall for admission in the fall of 2015. I was wondering how frequently you traveled to Vanderbilt per month being as you completed the program part time. I can't imagine taking a year off of working to complete this program as much as I would love to. I will need to factor travel time and associated expenses into my decision as I reside in Pittsburgh, PA. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  8. Hi Everyone! I'm starting Ohio University's RN-BSN Program October 1st. I'm taking Professional Nursing Practice and Community Health Nursing from October 1st through November 3rd. After that I will be taking Health Assessment and Promotion in November. When will our courses be available on Blackboard?
  9. Hi Inori, Thank you for your feedback. I greatly appreciated it. I decided against rescheduling my exam. I've been studying forever and my scores haven't really dramatically changed during the course of the review. I took nclex today and got the good pop up! Hopefully I'll officially be a nurse tomorrow morning:)
  10. Johana Ruiz, RN Thank you for posting this! I'm scheduled to take NCLEX next monday and my scores are as follows: Diagnostic: 59% Question trainer 1: 45% Question trainer 2: 52% Question trainer 3: 55% Question trainer 4: 54% Question trainer 5: 59% Question trainer 6: 55% Question trainer 7: 53% Readiness exam: 55% I'm getting around 60-66% on my qbank questions this week so far and am making myself crazy over this exam. It's good to see that there is some realistic hope that I will pass Monday:)
  11. Did you find this to be true with anyone that you know? My scores are as follows: Diagnostic: 59% Question trainer 1: 45% Question trainer 2: 52% Question trainer 3: 55% Question trainer 4: 54% Question trainer 5: 59% Question trainer 6: 55% Question trainer 7: 53% Readiness exam: 55% I'm scheduled to take my boards next Monday. As a new GN I study every second possible. I would love to put boards behind me but am apprehensive to take them if these scores are not indicative that I will pass. Thanks for any advice you may provide!
  12. Medicrnohio, I saw in your post that you attended Drexel for their acnp program. I looked at the website for the fnp program today and it only lists a few days that you have to be on campus periodically throughout the year and states that most of the program is online. What exactly do they mean by this? I live in Pittsburgh and wouldn't mind commuting every once in awhile if it meant saving me some time and money for my education. Thanks, okeefel
  13. Hi EGKB, I was wondering if you knew if Cleveland State University still had a tuition assistance aggreement with Cleveland Clinic in place for the Accelerated BSN students? I was recently accepted to a 12 month second degree program but am very concerned about the 30,000 to complete the program. Cleveland State University's program may be an excellent solution to this problem. Additionally, do you happen to know how difficult it is to get into this program? Thanks!
  14. Congrats on your acceptance! I still haven't received anything:( I live in Pa so it's probably going to take an extra day or so to get my letter. Thank you for letting me know the letters went out.
  15. Did you get your letter for the accelerated msn program or bsn program? I applied to the accelerated msn program but have not heard back yet:(
  16. Hi Jenny, I initially ruled out applying to any accelerated bsn programs due to the fact that I am very close to capping out on my undergraduate federal loans. If I go back for another bachelor's degree, I was told by Pitt that I would have to find private loans myself. This past week, I ran into a former classmate of mine that graduated from the same college as me 2 years ago. She went to Georgetown for an ABSN after graduation and was able to attain all of the additional loan money she needed without a co-signer. She told me to look into Sallie Mae and private banks. Obama also placed a bill before Congress recently to disperse $125 million in scholarship and grant money for nursing students. Are you aware of any other sources of funding? Thanks, Lauren
  17. Hi Jenny, Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. It’s always good to obtain the student perspective of a university. I’m spending the summer conducting research for 3 attendings , studying for the gres, taking them early in August, and getting as much shadowing experience as possible. I also registered for a medical terminology class along with anatomy and physiology 2 for the fall. Will you be around at all in August? I think that is the earliest I will be able to visit VCU. I would love to meet with you and obtain any information you have to offer regarding the program. It’s hard because I’ve always had a backup plan when it comes to schools but based on the research I’ve conducted, VCU seems to be one of the only schools in the country where you can get an AMSN and specialize as a pediatric nurse practitioner. I’ve always been extremely interested in evidence based practice, and this seems to be stressed by the university. Do the students conduct any research projects or a thesis as part of the curriculum? What backgrounds do most of the students have? The way I see it, I have a few months to make my application as competitive as possible in order to increase my chances of being accepted. Any hints you could send my way would be much appreciated. If you don’t mind me asking, did you apply to any other schools? I’m trying to construct a list of backup schools in case if I do find myself with a rejection letter. Thank you again for all of your help! I really appreciate it. Thanks, Lauren
  18. Hi Amanda and Jenny, I'm new to this forum as well. This is actually my first post. I am extremely interested in VCU's Accelerated MSN program. I would like to specialize as a pediatric nurse practitioner and ultimately work in the er. I graduated with a B.S. in Psychology in 2007 and went on to successfully complete a semester of graduate school in applied behavioral analysis where I took some courses I hope would help my chances of admission. (i.e. Diagnosis and Treatment of Childhood Disorders and Behavioral Modification.) The program wasn't right for me and so I left on my own accord. Once I came home I got a job working for some orthopedic surgeons as a research assistant. I conduct biomechanical, clinical, and bioinfectious disease research. As an undergrad I conducted and presented research in the areas of behavioral pharmacology and behavioral neuroscience at both local and international conferences. I have also worked in pediatric functional feeding clincs and as a chiropractor's assistant. My concern is not in my experience but rather in my grades. I also have a w on my record and worry that I will likely recieve a C in anatomy and physiology 1 this semester (which is a prerequisite course). I would like to start in the summer of 2010. Based on that I think I will be forced to apply with this grade. Do you think I have a chance of being accepted. Additionally, how does the financial aid work out for this school. I am currently a resident of PA. Since the program starts in the summer are we eligible for federal loan money that first semester? Sorry for such a long message. I would greatly appreciate any advice either one of you have to offer. Thank you!
