Is this against hippa?
I have forgotten all about nclex which I now relaize that I have venture away from the perfect nursing world. I have encourage clients to ask the doctors questions and be prepare with questions, but guess my client mistook me for not answering any of their questions after I told them "this is what i usually see happen in other clients who may have the same diagnose." I now learn to not say anything even if I may know what is usually being done. I didn't document anything that was said down because it was a whole bunch of I can't discuss labs, test results, and doctor's notes with you. I am curious now how can I be more accurate in writting in the pt's chart telling the doctor that pt have questions and questions about x, y, z? I have always passed it on to the day nurse to get the primary doctor to come talk to the pt. I didn't mention anyone name in my converstation, but we have cohort rooms so privacy is pretty much out of the picture. Every discussions you have or noise you make the other client will hear it. The only privacy the client will get is when the drapes are pulled for changing and dressing. Between thanks for your reply, it really have given me hope and ideas on how to manage future issues as this.

Thank you everyone for giving me your input. I didn't think I was doing any thing wrong other then giving my care and advising them of how to better prepare themselves for answers and questions. I have been lurking here and there for privacy rules and how to better handle converstations like this again.

Thought I would have a job by now. Getting depressed
I know that it get depressing when you have such high hopes after NS. It happened to me. It took me 3 months to finally be allow to take my nclex and then 3 months to actually land a job. It took me all the resources, ass kissing, and small talks to get a position within my company i was already working in. Hang in there, something will come up eventually.

If you could "do over" one thing about nursing school, what would it be?
Pick your team for a study group. I didnt do this during 1st semester and almost fail. 2nd semester, i finally got into a study group, but had drama within the group. 3rd and 4th semesters went fine after i know who are my team/players. Always stay under the radar. Btw congrats and have fun!

Your EMR, really safe? Don't bet on it.
Wow, sometimes all we need to do is wait for the media when it comes to popular people.

Patients with sitters
Wow that must have been nice of your company. Our hospital wouldnt pay nurses that much just to sit. They rather use us for hard labor

When patients ask us what are the treatments for their condition, can we say "from my experinces i usually see this things and steps being done." not to say they will get the same treatment as everyone else in their condition, but this is what i usually see being done. Also can we suggest unaware patients/families to do their own reseach online if they already know the diagnoses? Suggesting them to become more aware of choices and questions so they can be prepare to ask doctors questions. How about clients who are GCS 15 and have their kids as the speaker for them, inquiring if the doctors can call and update their other relatives who is also a doctor? My answer for this question was "i dont know if the doctor will call since your alert and your kids are alert, but if they dont call best time to get to to talk to your relative doctor is get them on the phone when the doctors come to see you so that way the doctor will talk to them infront of you."

But i have previously been fingerprinted less then 2 yrs ago. TIA!!- Interview Questions When Entering Nursing School

Thanks Flo, I just learned something. I am sure this would come in useful one day when someone decides to use this term on me.- Temp. RN jobs for New Grad
wow... its tough out there for new grads, but rejected for flu clinic too. I am sorry, I was lucky to not get rejected for flu clinic, but it doesn't pay any bills. I am a new grad too with no luck in interview yet either. Hang in there something will come around. Good luck in your job search.- Things you'd LOVE to be able to tell patients, and get away with it.

the pt *******, yelled, and call me names because her RN wont go talk to her after I have told the RN 4X already that the patient want to talk to her. Of course I keep answering the pt's call light because she keep pushing it so every time i go in there she keeps calling me names and asking to speak to the RN. Finally, i told the patient " I am not the one who is sick and if you keep talking to me like that I wont come in here again." no, I am not going to give you a bedbath when you can walk to go smoke outside. I can give you the towels and stuff you need to clean yourself up in bed when you are feeling better.- Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2

I will have to disagreed with you beacuse while this is a support fourm for many its also a home for many who come in here everyday to answer any question anyone might have. It is evident that many post other stuff too such as their story, funny things, shared their ideas, and provided support prn. I have been here for at least 2 years n i have met amazing people such as day2night (sorry if i spelled it wrong). We all came here for a reason and we should all give back to this fourm by participating in helping the newbies to the site and their concerns. Even though i dont have an RN job, i am not complaining. I am telling my experince. I did have a hard time dealing with not having an RN job but i am not gonna go begging for a job. I know my stuff (how much can a new grad know if they are not given the chance). I am not picky either. I will take the first offer that comes my way. With my new schedule with school and all the volunteer hrs i am already scheduled for from school. I dont have time to squeeze anymore in. Still i come in here and provide my support in best that i can. I am not here because i need a job. Sorry for the mistakes i posted this from my phone so there is errors. Even tho i might not have a job- Not the new grad problem I expected..
ED/ICU is where I want to be too, but sadly where I lived I havent even gotten an interview yet. I would pick bigger hospital and ask to be floated to ED every once in a while so you'll still get the ED experience. I would rather be in a bigger hospital, closer to home, and not worry about the winter weather. Also bigger hospital means more diverse patients=more experience and more opportunities once your 18months is over.- Best schools for RN-->BSN-->NP
I would Google University of phoenix. I dont know if they required any class meetings tho. Also I would Google University that offer the online programs then call them and ask what are their requirements to get into the program. Usually, you'll have to take a stat class, critical thinking class, nutrition, child development (these are the requirements here in the central valley in Cali) to get the RN-BSN however, often times those classes cab be waived to admit students. The once you get in you can start taking these classes along with your BSN courses. Also when you call the universities I would make sure that they are accredited cause you'll be surprise how many scams are out there. - How long does the "new nurse anxiety" usually last?
