  1. Need advice

Granted, I am just a student right now, but the above comments seem extremely outrageous, rude, and unnecessary! If you aren't comfortable doing something, speak up - that's fair. There is a difference between slacking off and being SAFE. I have a...
  2. Best of luck! You'll do wonderfully! Stay positive!
  3. Ignorant Stupid Patients

It's all well and good to look at calories but you need to look at fat content too. There are very few salads that have less than 9g of fat in them - that's a huge amount! I mean, the hamburger has less than 500 calories but would you think it was ...
  4. Ignorant Stupid Patients

So, I'm not really sure how I feel about this idea or not... but IF i were for it... how on earth would you track something like that? How do you measure effort? What if, as someone suggested about the women in the OP's post, she IS addicted to foo...
  5. Witnessed car crash, now feeling guilty

That is so terrifying! I would have never thought that someone would be so low as to do something like that!
  6. Clarification Please?!

I think I know what it means, but I can only think of how to put it in an example If I take the NCLEX in NH then the license is also good for practice in ME, VT, and MA - thus it is a compact state but in CA (apparently, i don't know this first hand...
  7. Looking to move to NH or ME

Have you checked out York, ME at all? That's a gorgeous hospital, but I'm not really sure about their hiring status at all... There is also Wentworth-Douglass... Frisbee... (both of those are NH)... if I think of any other one's I'll post again! Goo...
  8. Can I still get the job?

    Congratulations!!!
  9. Honesty during the interview

That's a really interesting dilemma. I think if it were me I'd ditch the honest answer and go with what you know they want to hear (i.e. I want to help people, care for them in their time of need etc. etc.) I believe in honesty but I think that you...
  10. STNA

Just like in New Hampshire we have LNA (liscenced nurse's aide) and not CNA :) I was so confused when I started school in New York lol
  11. 40,0000 for RN program

I failed to mention that I do get a scholarship for keeping my GPA at least a 3.3. I get 15000 a year for that, so it takes 60000 off of my over-all total (and brings my yearly down to about 25000). Granted, it's still a lot, but it was a school wit...
  12. 40,0000 for RN program

The college that I am going to to receive my RN (Bachelor's) is up to 42,000 this year. It goes up about 2 grand a year (it was 40,000 when I started) so it will probably be about 46,000 for my last year! Better hope I get a job, huh?
  13. So smart they are dumb?

    Man that's just frightening!
  14. Can I still get the job?

I think you still have a chance! If it were me I think I'd apologize and briefly explain the nature of the emergency, so they have a way to understand why you had to reschedule. And even tell them that it is out of character for you! You're still ...
  15. Pre-hypertension--- systolic BP 120-139?

Lol! I took my bp on one of those machines at a Wal-mart recently. I can't remember the exact numbers but the machine kindly informed me that I had hypertension! I sincerly doubt that I have hypertension. My bp's have always been fine when I go t...
  16. Man-Flu....the Untold Facts....

LOL Thanks for sharing, I needed the laugh!
  17. how long should I wait before I call

If it were me I would call Wednesday afternoon if I hadn't heard anything - gratz :)
  18. My God, these family members!!

Mailing letters? Is that even allowed? At the hospital I worked at (as a receptionist before nursing school) the only mailbox was outside... I wouldn't think a nurse would be allowed to mail letters for a patient?
  19. Happy Easter!

Have a very Happy Easter everyone I hope that everyone gets to spend it with their family and close friends!
  20. LPN and RN: What are the differences?

Actually I am from New Hampshire and I had never heard of a CNA until I came to New York. I think that they are supposed to be the same as LNA though
  21. LPN and RN: What are the differences?

What is an LVN? I've never heard of this before... also I don't really understand the differences between CNA and LNA and LPN... Thanks :)
  22. Which drug handbook do you suggest?

Anything by Mosby is wonderful, I absolutely swear by mine, and that is what my instructor and fellow classmates (who are farther on in the program) recommended to me :)
  23. Should I quit my job before nursing school?

I currently work about 18 hours a week while in NS. It is really hard, for sure, but it's possible. There is not a lot of free time, but at least I have somewhat of a pay check and I am still surviving in NS. If you are fortunate enough to not wor...
  24. Quit LTC after 6 weeks and without notice

You did the right thing, don't be so hard on yourself. Your daughter is, and will always be, your number one priority. You did what you did because you are a wonderful parent and responsible nurse. The most important thing for you to do now is get ...
  25. 3 dui's in mi

Wow. I can't even tell you how furious that statement makes me. I have never and will never get behind the wheel of a car drinking. My father was an alcoholic. He drunk drove with me in the back seat, so should I forgive him? (Btw, my mother divo...
