nursing schools in ohio(dayton area?)
kettering is faith based. I attend Miami University in Middletown, just about 35 minutes down 75s. Its affordable and they have a pretty good reputation.

I have no personal experience with the LPN to ADN bridge, but several of them have joined our class this semester.

New Grad in ER in Dayton/Cincy?

New Grad in ER in Dayton/Cincy?
I know that almost all of them do, but I am interested in the ones that will allow you to work before you pass boards. I know that KMC network has one, Fort Hamilton, and University Hospital. It may take awhile before I am able to sit for boards, because apparently OHIO is a little behind. I don't want to go too long after graduation still working as a PCT seeing how I've worked my butt off in nursing school.

Nursing Resumes
I'll be graduating May 09. I have been a STNA for the past 5 years off and on. Now for each STNA job I did the exact same thing, do I still need to place the same job description under each STNA job?

Any Other Students Having Trouble Finding a Job
I've spoken to other nurses who had the same difficulties finding jobs during nursing school. B/C our hours of availability are so restricted. I know what you are going through, but before u know it, you'll be graduation.

I was denied a maternity leave.
I'm not sure whether my school has a maternity leave for nurses either. I was pregnant my entire first year, finish it up on time and everything. Never missed a clinical. There are ways to work around it. I haven't read all the posts and not really sure if this has already been mentioned but u can do it. Nurses work all the time pregnant.

Any Other Students Having Trouble Finding a Job
I was once in your boat. I'm in Ohio and it was very hard to get a call back from the local hospitals for PCT positions. Two things that worked for me was that one of my clinical instructors worked there as one of the Directors of the PCT program and I defintely called the HR department and asked to speak to a recruiter. I know its annoying, but keep beating the pavement. Have you thought about working in a LTC facility? Good LUck on your search, don't give up, this is just one of the many road blocks placed in front of us as up and coming Future Nurses.

Are You Kidding Me???????
Like one of the previous posters mentioned, It will be more beneficial for you to switch to a PUBLIC school. at a public school, you would qualify for the government aid that most of us qualified for, regardless of you being married. You have some pretty good advice in this forum, I would look into it if I were you.

One Week into Nursing school & I'm going nuts already!!!
my biggest advice to you, outside of at least trying to read the chapter summary before the class, is to BUY A CALENDAR!!! It will definitely help you to stay organized. I agree with the previous posts, YOu can definitely do it. We all felt overwhelmed in the beginning. Good LUck to you

New Grad in ER in Dayton/Cincy?
Hello, I was wondering if you had any personal experiences with this program? I went to KMC/GVMC a symposium this past Sept 08 and there was talk of this program. I will be graduating in May 09 from Miami, and that seems to be the only hospital in this area that has a rn residency

All Programs in Ohio
Miami University in Middletown and Hamilton doesn't have wait-lists. The program is just during day hours though. No option of evening classes. They will be doing away with the ADN after the class thats entering in Aug 09. They will then just have the tradition BSN and RN-BSN.

my husband....the jerk......sorry this is a rant :)
Hello Heather, I'm sorry to hear what you are going through, but to me it just sounds as if your a single parent. Have you evaluated other support systems, like your boys' grandparents, aunts, and uncles?? Plenty of single mothers make it through nursing school, you can too. I'm living proof. Good Luck

Background Check
http://www.nursing.ohio.gov/PDFS/CRCprocessJune08.pdf ON this page it says to make sure the place you choose sends the results to BC&I and from there to the OBON. Is there an address inparticular that we need to be worried about, or will they email them? Or does the BC&I ppl already know the contact info for the OBON.
