Please help I really need advice don't judge please
Hello and good luck in applying to schools. I graduated from UW last June and when talking to other students of cc programs Ive come to the conclusion that UWs program isnt as difficult. The staff have great attitudes and are very helpful and they dont have standarized testing like most of the other programs. As i understand most of the other schools have tests you have to take at the end of quarters and if you fail it twice, youre out. Someone please correct me if Im wrong.

Requirments for graduate nursing increasing?
Yes, actually in my state (WA) The public universities are only offering a Masters in Public Health and Psych nursing. Everything else you need a PhD to be a NP. They also said that the rest of the country was going to follow suit by 2012. So if you can find a Masters NP program go for it now.

Hyperventilating causes the blood pH to go up. High pH reduces the level of available Ca in the blood. Hypocalcemia causes Trousseau's or better known as carpopedal spasms.

Uw & Wsu Bsn Applicants 2009
when I applied 2 years ago there was 354 applicants and 90 were accepted at UW, there were 350 applicants at BCC and they took 40. All of the programs in this area have this many applicants. Just call the schools and ask how many applied last year.

Is this normal ??????
Ive been out of school 6 months and I dont feel like a nurse either. I know itll come in time, but there are times when I just sit back at work and think "How did this happen?"

Anyone else start in tele?
I started as a new grad 6 mo ago on a tele unit, and I LOVE it. Before I started I did by an EKG Made Easy book to get the basics and I reread the cardiac chapters in some of my school books just to refresh. It helped alot, I felt I had an edge on the other residents. Have fun

Uw & Wsu Bsn Applicants 2009
UW looks for leadership qualities, they arent particular in what, just show them that youve taken the initiative in a project. Also, UW doesnt do interviews, if you make it past the app process there's a proctored essay. Honestly though, all of the programs are sooo competitive, including the ADN programs in the area, my advice is to apply to all of them if you limit yourself by just applying to one or two it could take years to get into a program. It took a couple of my friends 3 tries (years) to get accepted to UW. I know 2 people at work that are applying to the BCC program for the third time this year. You just cant afford to be picky. Get your prereqs done then when it comes time to apply, apply everywhere. Good luck

Private nursing schools anyone ?
Hello I moved here also after completing some of my prereqs out of state (AZ). When I was looking into nursing programs I looked at them all ADN, private, and UW. What I found was that all of the programs are competitive. Private (Seattle Pacific, Pacific Lutheran...) they werent easier to get into, they preferenced the students that started there in their freshman year and only if they had spots left would they offer them to outside students, that and the tuition of $22000 + seemed like a waste. I ended up making a list of all the community colleges and UW prereqs and had planned to apply everywhere, luckily I got into UW first try, but I talked to other students who had been trying literally for years to get into a nursing program, its extremely competitive. My advice is to not limit yourself. Apply everywhere and find out what you can to extracuricularly to make yourself a more appetizing candidate. Good luck

Not Sure?!?!?!
Dont feel bad, I wasnt a very good student in high school. Lucky to get C's, but I found that when I took nursing classes (something that interested me) my grades improved dramatically. My advice is to find out what its going to take to get into the nursing program you want. Make a list of classes and volunteer hours or whatever else you need to get in and then just start chipping away at it. Good luck

41 and going into NURSING? HELP
Youre 41 not 101. You will still work 20+ years by the time you graduate. I went back to school at 36 and am now a new RN at 41. I can only promise you one thing....if you do this.... you wont ever regret it.

Maricopa community colleges-full time job-Which program to do?
Hello I used to live in AZ and was planning on applying to nursing programs there. Since, I've moved to a different state and finished nursing school. As I recall they had it set up that you filled out one application for all the community colleges. You listed your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices but it wasnt guaranteed. They had soooo many applicants that it wasnt even assured that youd get into any of the programs let alone have a choice. At least thats how it was 3 years ago. Things may be different now. Good luck

1st Job in Nursing Questions
Hello, It sounds like you were working for a really bad facility. Please dont make a decision about your career on your experiences on one job. There are plenty of good facilities out there that you would probably be happy with. Also, kudos to you for taking a stand and questioning when you knew they were asking you to do something illegal. Never put your license in jeopardy for someone else. Good luck
