  1. Thank you, Haunted. You're saying that there is no need for you to do the SANE program at UCR? I've been hearing that you have to be certified to do the work you do as a SANE nurse. I'm not sure if this hold true since your posting was made in 2006.
  2. was this your first time taking the nclex? what did you do that worked and got you a passing score on the nclex? how many months did you spend studying for the exam?
  3. Hi roze, Did you try studying with other NCLEX test takers? Perhaps you can get a group together near your area.
  4. Hey kenyohunt1, I pm'd you. Do you prefer me to send you an email? Thanks for the update.
  5. Hi Kenyohunt1, Did you check off two concentrations on your application? One for the FNP and the other for the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner? I want to know if only the BSN-DNP or MSN-DNP were eligible to be accepted in more than one concentration.
  6. Congrats. I just got my letter. Who else got in besides you and me?
  7. Thanks. I wish everyone good luck as we wait to hear from USA.
  8. Wow! That many people got in last year. How did you know so much about last year's stats? Are you a new applicant? I emailed Greg but he never gave out last year's profile in his email.
  9. Hey kenyo, I have a 3.83 GPA. I'm wrapping up my last term of nursing school by the end of spring term. Greg contacted me to email him my license but I did email me telling him that I don't have a license. If that's the only reason why I get denied, I would definitely appeal. How about you? What are you stats? Which program are you applying? Have you applied anywhere else? In a private email, Greg said there were 250+ applications.
  10. I was relieved to see that the Deans were accepting 80+ applicants but then I didn't understand what that meant. Are those with clinical experience in a better position compared to those with little clinical experience? Wow. Congrats on graduating with magna cum laude. Is that equivalent to a 3.8 or higher at your institution? I applied for the BSN-DNP. Good luck taking your boards tomorrow.
  11. Acestudent21, did you get the email from USA counselor today regarding them mailing the decision letters tomorrow? What are your stats if you don't mind me asking?
  12. Hey Acestudent21, Which other 2 graduate nursing programs have low rates of tuition? I'm curious to know. Mucho gracias!
  13. Hi Gem0607! Have you heard anything from them yet? I also applied to their program but I did not hear from them.
  14. When are you taking the NCLEX, BayArea2010? Which books are you using to study?
  15. Whoa! Penn accepted you for your BSN and MSN but rejected your for the PhD. If you don't mind me asking, what is your stats (e.g., MSN GPA, GRE scores, years of experience etc.) Congrats on getting into UCSF. That's one of the top nursing schools in the country. You should feel very proud of yourself. :) quote=NPtoPhD;4158686]Whoosh, this waiting period is hard! So I have heard back from 2 schools...and still waiting on 2. Bad news: Penn said no! Kinda crushed since I had been accepted both for my BSN and MSN. BUT, good new: UCSF accepted! Yipee! And even better news is they offered me a fellowship to cover tuition. That really helps because that was one major drawback about UCSF (since the other 3 fully fund their PhD students). But now the fellowship helps level the playing field. Still waiting for Yale & Hopkins, but I just feel SSOOOO relieved knowing I will at least be going to UCSF! Anyone else getting news back???
  16. Hello everyone, I have several questions regarding health fairs. I hope the experienced nurse could provide me with answers. What happens if a patient has a serious reaction to a vaccination given at a health fair? Would the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, or the agency be sued if something goes wrong with the patient? What are the legal requirements you must meet prior to having a health fair? Sometimes the client has an unusually high blood sugar. Would this constitute an emergent referral? At health fairs, what is considered as emergent referral?
  17. Hello everyone, UC Davis Betty Moore School of Nursing is accepting it's first cohort of PhD students. Please apply. If selected, I'd be very happy to see everyone be my future classmates.
  18. Hello pinksunflower, If it helps you, you can throw in a few NCLEX questions. We can all discuss why some answers are better than others. Does that help? You can start posting questions here if you'd like.
  19. Hello WAnurse17, Do you have the link to Hurst Review? I could recommend it to people if it provides an adequate amount of content review.
  20. BayArea2010, Thank you so much for your response. Yes, I dread on receiving a rejection letter in the mail but if I don't get in, I'll work harder to get into the school next year. I plan to do research and teach with my degree. There is a strong need to understand certain aspects of the population (esp. health pertaining to the LGBT and Arab American communities) and I feel that the studies I've been reading don't address these populations. For this reason, I want to go back to school, contribute knowledge, add my voice, and advocate for these two groups. What are your reason for pursuing the PhD, BayArea2010, CalinP, and anyone else who is reading this? Which area of research are you guys interested in? UMich is an excellent research institution. I was blown away by the number of programs they offer to their graduate students.
  21. Did anyone get in as a direct admit (i.e., no interview)?
  22. Hey calinp, I was probably reading another member's post and got it mixed up with yours. I'm still applying for a few PhD programs. The process seems overwhelming and I don't know if I get a shot in this year's class. I will read some of your posts to catch up on what's going on. More questions to come later... :)
  23. Hey Calinp! I was searching for the PhD forum but there is that many threads on allnurse.com. Which PhD program are you in now? What were some questions that you were asked at the time of your interview?
  24. Who is the author of the study? I'd like to read more about the research behind gum chewing.
  25. What type of questions do they ask you during the interview? How long did it take? Did any of you stammer on your interview but still got into UPenn?
