  1. Got the good news today :) Woot woot! I feel extremely fortunate and blessed.
  2. Good luck to everyone who got interviews or is still in the running! Sorry to those who got rejection letters Trust me I know how it feels! I got rejected the first time I applied and it's frustrating when you spend so much time building your portfolio and they can't even give you an interview, but you just gotta stay positive and believe that you will find that perfect job some day. My interview went well....it went by so fast though. It was only 30 minutes. Most of it is a blur now haha. I was so nervous! But hopefully I was able to leave a positive impression. They said they would let us know their decision by April 30th...so it's the wait that really sucks haha. They asked a mix of clinical and general questions. Just be honest and stick to your ABCs for clinical stuff! Good luck again! Let me know how all of your interviews go or if you hear anything.
  3. Hey everyone! Just to answer everyone's questions... SweeetRN: My resume is really really basic. I listed your usual headings like objectives, education, qualifications summary, professional experience....etc. Under the qualifications summary I listed my license #, certifications (BLS, ACLS), computer programs, etc. My cover letter was pretty simple as well...I talked about why I was interested in the position and the skills/experience that I bring to the table. I went through an accelerated BSN program and most of my clinicals were at Sharp Grossmont so I think that helped a lot. Sorry I don't have PM yet....I think I have to post more or something. But I'd be happy to answer any additional questions. Gem0607: I think what really differentiated me from the crowd was my supplemental questionnaire. I spent SOOOO much time on it...like 2 weeks. I tried to get more specific this time around. I talked about my clinical experiences instead of keeping it general (like the first time I applied). A story can go a long way in helping them remember you and showing your strengths. That was a valuable piece of advice I got from a HR lady I met at a job fair. I have my RN license this time around so I think that helps too. I have BLS and ACLS certs. I believe they are accepting 5 new grads for the residency program with rotations in med/surg and PCU/tele. So yeah it's pretty tough! Its seriously like a lottery. I feel really really really fortunate to even get an interview. Good luck everyone!!!
  4. I'm like you-very little hospital experience except for clinical rotations. I would suggest volunteering at a hospital or if you could a part time job as unit tech or something that would be good.
  5. I applied for the residency program with rotations in PCU and Med-surg. I had a phone interview last week and have an in-person interview next week. I'm super excited and a little nervous. I feel really lucky to have gotten an interview....this is my 2nd time applying. I heard there were way more applicants this time around...1400 I think.
  6. I got the email saying that I was selected for the first phase of the interview process. I am only using my nursing school GPA. I'm a second degree BSN student who graduated in Dec 2009, already have my RN license, nursing GPA of 3.97, ACLS/BLS cert., preceptorship in ICU. It's really tough right now for new grads so I feel everyone's pain. I applied to 50+ positions in the last 4 months and only now am I starting to hear back from a few places. Good luck everyone!
  7. Hello everyone, I have an interview coming up for Sharp Grossmont's residency program and would really appreciate any information/advice/tips regarding the interview process. If any one has gone through this, I would really appreciate your help. This is my first RN interview and I am a little freaked out! I haven't been in a real interview for years. What questions did they ask? How many people were in the panel? Who were they (i.e. staff RNs, educators, leads etc) How long did it last? How long did it take them to decide who got hired? Any information/tips/advice/words of encouragement would be greatly greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much.
  8. Congrats Carlyfry!! How are you liking the residency program so far? How many other new grads were hired with you? I am planning to apply to Sharp Grossmont's residency program for Summer 2010 and just wanted to get some insights on it. You had a phone interview and an in-person interview right? What did you do to prepare for it? What kind of questions did they ask? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm just curious and really itching for this job :) Thanks in advance!
