  1. Yahoo! Congrats guys!!
  2. Silvermoondust: what did she say about your signature but no email? Does the signature on your contract mean you got it??! I mean, is THAT the guarantee?? CONGRATS!!! :yelclap:
  3. Oh well shoot. That blows my theory. Haha. What does your last name start with? I have been patiently waiting this whole time and now that I am hearing people receiving their 2nd final email - I'm going bananas!! Like people have stated before, no rhyme or reason I guess. ::sigh::
  4. RNs are still in the running. It seems for those who are getting their 2nd final emails (congrats by the way!! ), they are faculty/NPs. I haven't noticed any RNs getting their 2nd final email yet. Has anybody else?
  5. What are your thoughts on malpractice insurance? Even if covered under your employer, do you still carry your own?
  6. Ohhh someone please help me because I am so terribly lost. I am in California and will be graduating in May. I don't plan on living here though. I am moving to Illinois. I have been searching what to do for Illinois boards and I am confused as hell. One of the forms is a form my director of my school has to sign and fill out once I graduate - it shows proof I did indeed go to a nursing program. What I don't get is - if I have to send in all this paperwork before I can take the test.... but I need to register months before I graduate, then how do I get this form filled out? I can't! I'm just lost. Anybody have any concerns like mine? Or suggestions? Thanks!
  7. To TheSquire: Can you tell me how the whole NCLEX application works? I am applying to Illinois BON and I am confused like no other! I register both on Pearson and CTS but then I also have to give paperwork to BON that requires proof I graduated... but I need to send this paperwork in before I graduate? Which means I need to RE-SEND this form that is signed by the director of my nursing program to BON when I graduate?? I'm so so so terribly confused.
  8. Thanks guys! I appreciate your feedback. It almost seems easier to get my license here in California and then get ANOTHER license in Illinois. But I am still trying to figure out how it all works. I don't get the paperwork for both states - they obviously need proof that I graduated before I sit for NCLEX..but I am still able to register before then. But then how does the BON deem me eligible to take the test when I still haven't graduated? I'm just lost.
  9. Hi everybody, I need your advice. I am in nursing school in California but will be moving to Illinois when I graduate. Do you recommend I take the NCLEX here and transfer my license to Illinois? Or take the NCLEX in Illinois? Thanks for your help! :)
  10. What's everyone's opinions on chewing gum while on the job? Just curious because I love to chew gum but I feel as though no one in my hospital does it.
  11. Hi guys, I still don't know what is the appropriate salary for nurses because I think salary.com might blow it out of the water. I am currently in a Master's Accelerated program which means I have a Bachelor's in another major and I am getting my Master's in Nursing. I know pay might depend on the area I live in but can anyone give me a ballpark as to what the minimum I should get and the maximum? I don't want to go into an interview and lowball myself or ask an amount that is absurdly high. So for someone in my situation - I'll be a new grad with no experience (besides an externship hopefully) and a Master's - what is a reasonable salary? Thanks in advance for your responses!
  12. :typing Newboy: The problem with Word is there are so many different formats and sometimes your format doesn't match with the potential employers format so PDF is a good way to go. I personally think it looks better and is more professional BUT Word is fine too. Just make sure to attach it AND copy and paste to the body of the e-mail. Happy applying! :typing
  13. I just wrote this long response and it got deleted! GRR! So I will keep this one short and sweet.. Nursing schools want to hear from YOU, not some made up answers you think they want to hear. Questions they will probably ask you: Why do you want to be a nurse? Why do you want to come to this school? What have you researched about the profession? What would you do if you disagreed with a physician's order? These are just a couple I can think off the top of my head. With group interviews, they want to see how you interact with others. Do you communicate well? How do you handle a little bit of heat? (being in a room with other potentials makes the room a little hot because you are essentially competing with them for a spot and hearing their answers as well...) Good grades gets you noticed but it doesn't always mean you will get a spot. You have to show them your personality! Good luck, have fun, deep breathe!
  14. Hi Espo44, You should be proud that you finally have discovered what you want to do in life! :yelclap: A lot of people still struggle trying to figure it out and some never come to a solid conclusion. Age means nothing nowadays. Don't watch the hour glass - focus on improving yourself and doing what you want! :anpom::nmbrn:
