  1. Future BCC 2010 spring applicants: Did you get your classes / transcripts evaluated? Do you know your application score yet? I don't have my official ''score'' yet.. has anyone gotten theirs yet? I applied about 1 month ago and they haven't evaluated my classes yet.. It's driving me crazy.. Thanks!
  2. Also hope this helps too: Advisor told me that they DON'T look at your overall acummulative GPA; your GPA is calculated ONLY from the pre-requisite classes. In addition, they don't care if you repeated, or had to retake sciences again as long as you ended up with a good grade. Good luck all!! :)
  3. Hope this helps future BCC'ers for Dade county residents: If you're currently attending MDC and need to take the HCP0130 class , you can take it at MDC as well. The class that you need is ''HSC 0003: Introduction to Healthcare'' Keep in mind that this class is NOT counted towards the GPA calculation but you still need a passing grade. Is a typical class with 4 , 75 question tests; talks about the different roles of the medical field, and safety protocols, procedures that you can do in the healthcare setting, along with basic anatomy/physiology. In my class we had to write a paper related to a career in the healthcare field and do a presentation as well. Hope this helps.
  4. I applied to the Jan program but I my grades have not been evaluated yet. But doing the math and plugging in the numbers i have 16 points without HOSA and w/o being a broward resident. The bcc advisor told me that last semester the gpa average for acceptance was 3.1 for broward residents and 3.2 for out of county. Which is think is really really easy compared to dade county which last semester the cut off gpa was 3.81 accumulative gpa. Good luck to everyone. I applied to the South Campus, lets all hope for the best!
  5. Thank you Sappi you're awesome!
  6. When applying for Nova RN program; do you state that you're interested in the Baptist Program? where along the lines of applying to the Nova's program do you state that you would like to apply for Baptist? Thank you for the help. PS. When applying online for the RN program there's different applications on Nova's website: 1)for Campus or 2)out of campus classes Should we fill out the out of campus application ?
  7. I'm waiting for my MDC semester to end July 31st before applying to have my GPA at it's highest. See you all in South Campus if we get accepted!
  8. I'm applying at 2 community colleges and 2 universities; What i did i made an excel spreadsheet with all the common classes and all the extra classes that I would need for each institution. So far it's only taking me 1 additional semester to finish the remaining classes and the way I see it those extra classes are helping my current GPA as well. Don't put all your eggs in one basket! :) Good luck!
  9. Thank you so much for the fast reply and clear answer. I guess now I'll apply for the Jan term. :). I wonder if they'll take the health course that MDC offers. Anyway, tyvm for the info!
  10. Good evening everyone, When applying for the program at Broward CC. Do you need to complete HCP0130 (Health Career Core) (75.0 Contact Hours) BEFORE getting a letter of acceptance to the program? I'm transferring from Miami Dade College, and I was wondering if I can apply to the program and then take the class. Or do i have to take HCP0130 before applying? Thank you in advance
  11. Do you guys know in order to ''apply'' (not getting accepted) just apply for the BCC RN basic program, do you need to complete or have taken the HSC course? (Intro to healthcare field) Thanks for the advice!!
  12. Hi FutureRN, I'm taking APII , lab, speech, stats, Philosopy.. i sit around 3.10 and hope to be around 3.20+ with all A's. I already applied and I'm just hopeful. I hope you make it. I"m going to apply @barry/nova/FKCC/BCC when I'm done after summer to apply with my highest GPA. Good luck!!
  13. Although I've never been there, I work at an Urgent care in Miami Lakes, and all the nurses that work there say pretty good things about MLT. They say is one of the better LPN schools there along with Hopkins and Mercy! Good luck!!
  14. Good Luck Nicki, keep us posted
  15. taken from keiseruniversity website: associate of science in nursing * an associate of science degree is considered a terminal degree. the decision on course transferability rests with the receiving institution. program description * an associate of science degree is considered a terminal degree and is not transferable.
  16. I have a 3.04 ( not much higher than you) I'm almost done with school and I will be applying to a plathora of school as well; whatever you do keep moving forward my friend, one school will accept you . I'll keep you posted with my journey see if someone takes me as well. Good luck!!
  17. 30 yo here. I feel I could be half of my classmates father..I also went back to the community school i graduated from 10 years ago...and I think that shocked me even more (It's like going back in time). Taking physchology and A&P I, and lab...I salute everyone here!! and I wish everyone the best of luck!! Your friend, Hirbow (Fernando)
  18. I work for Baptist Hospital. Although not an Rn or LPN myself, the Rn's that I work with always say positive thinngs about LPN's that went to the Mercy program. Hope this helps; Good luck!
  19. 3.01.. thanks to my previous A.A .. if my math serves me right I'll finish all my pre-requisites with a 3.15-3.2 I'm very persistent! I know i'll make it somehow! Cheers.
  20. Hi there i can definitely relate to you I work full time as well; My rule of thumb is pair a hard class with an easy class I.e -A&P1 , -A&P1 Lab -Critical Thinking or -MicroBiology -Speech etc.. etc.. that's what I am doing. The key to entering nursing school is not how fast you finish, but how well of a GPA you have when you finish all your pre-request. Aim for A's! don't settle for B's!! Good luck!:nuke:
  21. I'm taking my Chemistry +Lab in the summer (Summer C 12 weeks). We're going over about 2 chapters per week and our tests are made up of 4 chapters. It's alot of information given at once. I think that if you're comfortable with the science class you're going to take go for it. I see alot of classmates that are chemistry weak that are struggleling in the class. I am happy that I took it in the summer. Hope this helps!
  22. Hi mama2__3, First of all, a big <:yeah:congratulations src="%7B___base_url___%7D/uploads/emoticons/playful.png.57b5b604ed5905060e985459aa8c6705.png" alt=":yeah:">> you're a big inspiration to many! It is so nice to see that a busy mom can achieve this goal with such a high GPA! way to go !!:bowingpur A little background of myself; I'm from Europe too. Spanish to be exact, and I must say, my mom feels somewhat the same way yours does. Remember that nursing has evolved alot, and older generations have a different mentally of what nursing is. Cheers and I wish you the best on this journey! I hope one day I'll make it to nursing school like you! Fernando.
  23. -Posted this also at the FL region section- Hi all, I'm currently at MDC (Miami Dade College) doing my prereqs there. 4 Years ago I enrolled for AP and Chem and ended up withdrawing from those classes 2 x (not failing them). As per our course policy now, if you have more than 3 dropped or F's classes, you can't apply for the nursing program. My advisor said as long as I retake the classes and I do well then I have an opportunity to appeal them infront of a committe. So my question is? Any pre nursing student here with any number of W's or F's in 2 or more science classes , that they appealed and ended up makingi t to the RN program? If so, welcome to the club :)
