okay, I'm not a nurse as of yet but here is a subject that I know a little something about. While I was having my second son (my first was c-sect), the doc just let me tear and let me tell you that was the worst experience of my life. I tore so bad she stitched me for an hour, I couldn't sit for a week without pain---would have much rather an episiotomy!!! Worst birth experience of all 3 of my children!!! Just my input!

I used to be a CNA and now am continuing my ed to be an LPN. I worked at a ltc facility and although I loved the people and the work I hated the environment, we were underpaid, overworked, and treated badly. For those reasons I don't know that I would ever work at a ltc facility again, but I do know people that love being a CNA and work in a great place. I love helping people and hope to continue in another ave of helping people, that's all! If you do get turned off try switching to another hospital or facility and make sure you ask yourself why you are being turned off, is it because of inadequacies in the facility or is it the aspects of the job? Hope you find the right path

Have you talked to the doc about this? I "assume" you both work for the same organization, why can't you go to your supervisor? Something needs to be done before she kills the pt for sure. Even if he is dying that doesn't give her rights to do as she pleases! Just my input!

I also have tmj. Didn't have it until I was in a car accident and my jaw hit the dash. My dentist makes these special retainers for tmj, if mine gets to the painful point but now it's not too bad. He advises not chewing any gum, raw carrots, or nuts so it doesn't aggrevate it (I say this as I have a piece of gum in my mouth) oops!!!!! hope this helps!

I applied at Penn State and am still waiting. I actually sent in my application before this years classes started but the said they were full by Febuary so I was hoping that my early submission would help but I am still waiting. I just checked my application status and it says they have sent my reply in the mail so I am literally waiting for the mail to arrive. It is just as the others said, the schools that offer it (RN), only start a new program once a year and only take a small number of people so it's hard to get in. I am really nervous that I won't be accepted and then I'll have to start all over again. I've been out of school for 13 years and I've decided to take some mommy time and do something good for myself so when all my kids are in school I can have a good career! Hopefully (fingers croosed) that letter will be a good one! My sister who is two years older than me got in pretty quickly! She applied after I did and started her pre-reqs last week! At a different college about 2 hours from me. JULZ

I am in a similiar situation. I am going to, Lord willing, be starting nursing school in the fall and I have 3 children. Two of them will be in school but I will have a 3 year old at home. I really don't want him to have to go to daycare since my others didn't (I am a sahm now) and am now torn because my husband works days and I have no family close by. I could either wait 2 more years to start school, which I really don't want to do, or put him in childcare while I'm in school. My husband is upset because he thinks it will be a waste of money to pay for childcare, when I haven't even started working yet and our money is tight already. I feel kind of selfish because I want to be able to start working when my youngest starts school and I need to go to school to be able to do that ( in a career that I want). Does this make sense to anyone? In a way I think he is right but in another way I feel like if I wait I will not go! I have been a sahm for 6 years and am a registered childcare provider. I have just gotten clearance to take in foster kids so I am hoping that I will be able to keep fostering when I start school. That way the kids will be in school when I'm in school and I'll also be home with them when they are home. This way I will still be making money and also be able to go to school. Am I being too unrealistic? so you don't think I am fostering just for the money let me just tell you that I've been working on getting this clearance with this specific place that deals with teens and their problems at home for at least 6 months and have finally gotten it and I am excited to start helping some of the teens in my area. The thing is they will only be in my home for a few hours each night and on the weekend through this mentoring program so it won't take away from any time with them. Sorry for the length but wanted to make it clear! JULZ

I have always wanted to go into the medical field ever since I can remember. I should have done it when I graduated but I got married right after high school and got a pretty good job in an accounting office which I liked but I knew deep inside it wasn't my calling. Anyhow, now it's 14 years later and I have 3 kids (2,5,7) and I have been a sahm for 6 years and can't wait to have a career as an RN. I have my application in at penn state but haven't gotten word of my acceptance yet, and I'm very nervous! My sister just started yesterday for her BSN and she is two years older than me. My husband thinks we can't afford for me to start school but I just keep telling him, if I get accepted, I'm going!!! I don't care if I have to work full time to do it. I refuse to miss out again!! I love my kids and feel that I have taken care of everyone and this house for long enough and it's time they helped me!! PRAY FOR ME AND I'LL PRAY FOR YOU!!--DEAL? JULZ

Sorry to hear your news! Pray for the best and get all the help you can---tutors, good physician, child advocates!! I am not an RN yet but I do know not to rely on one test! If you have had more than one test and both have proven it to be, then get as much information as you can before birth. I think you did the right thing! Did you explain to them (the family) that she was in pain and anxious and if she wasn't given her meds she may have been in pain through thanksgiving instead of sleeping, which would they rather? If it were my family member, and you expained it to me, how could I contend with that! Treat them as you would your own and you can rest assure your doing the right thing!!

I am not a nurse yet but plan on being one in the ER, hopefully soon. Let me just tell you that I am a childcare provider and it kills me to hear some of these parents tell me they just had their child at the ER last night for a fever or cough. In my experience I can honestly say that it is most of the parents that are on welfare and it is all paid for. As for me, I have 3 boys ages 7, 5, and 2 and only had my 5 year old to the hospital (3 times), he's my daredevil! One time he fell at my mom's house and banged his mouth off her stone fireplace, pushing his two front teeth back an 8th of an inch, and impacting them. Another time for Appendicitis (sp?), and the last time my sister brought him to the emergency room by her house because he fell out of a tree him and his brother were climbing and a twig went through his cheek. Two of these times I was charged $50. I think if they would charge everyone $50 to be seen at the emergency room, people might think twice if they are actually in an emergency or not. Then again some probably don't plan on paying it anyway so maybe it won't matter. Just my thoughts!!!!!

I have three sons and all three are circumsized. I have a couple of family members that are not and 2 out of three have had problems and the one that didn't have medical problems says he was teased at school when they had to take showers after gym and football practice so we decided to circumsize. The doctor used a local anestetic (sp?) and imho I think it's the safest way. I also know of 2 men that had to get it done later in life and said it was very painful. I heard the older you get the more painful it is!

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT KEEPER THING !! MY HUSBAND WILL FREAK OUT IF HE SEE'S THAT THING IN THE LAUNDRY:) LOL
