  1. CSI stands for College of Southern Idaho. It's in Twin Falls You can google the school name for the website. Hope this helps!
  2. Princessa, i can totally relate to your situation. i graduated may 09 and i too have yet to find a position. i put my job search on hold from about august to december because i was pregnant and had some complications. i resumed my job search again in January and have had no luck. i've only had 2 interviews! i ended up renewing my license at the end of march despite not working yet. but i have to believe that SOMEONE will eventually take a chance on me and hire me. i know it's hard to stay positive but we need to. don't give up your search! all the time, money, and effort we put into nursing school will eventually be rewarded!!!
  3. Best of luck to you!!! You will do great!!!
  4. don't overthink why they want to interview you. GO!!! to the interview and give it your best. and just because they say there aren't any positions right now it may not be the case. good luck!!!
  5. yes i did use exam cram. but i also used Saunders Comprehensive review and a Kaplan book as well. I think all three had questions similar to what is on the NCLEX. I think exam cram was a great review tool and would recommend it!! Good luck!!!
  6. beachbutterfly i averaged close to 68% on several tests and did just fine with NCLEX. i remember reading that you should be in the 70's but I passed on my first attempt. i think you will be fine. just take your time and read the question CAREFULLY!
  7. i did try the "trick" this afternoon about 4 hours after i completed my test. I did get the "pop up" that they say is a positive thing to get and it wouldn't let me register but i left the test feeling like i failed it. i just have to wait and see what happens.
  8. I also took the nclex rn this morning and was told that the SOONEST i could utilize the quick results service was wednesday morning as well. they said i could try around 8am on wednesday!!! this is going to be torture!!!
  9. i took my nclex-rn exam this morning and like some of the other posts have said i left in tears!!! i sat in my car wiping the tears feeling like a complete failure. i sat there thinking why i had spent two years in nursing school since there were so many questions on my test that i completely guessed on. even as i sit here right now i am just in a state of utter confusion at the test. i decided to to the "trick" and i did get the "pop up" so if nothing else it at least gave me a glimmer of hope that i just might have passed. i am leaving on vacation tomorrow morning and will be gone for 3 weeks. i'm debating if i should pay for my quick results cause if i do and find out i really did fail i will ruin my vacation. regardless of whether i pass or fail i have found some comfort in reading everyone's posts on here about their nclex-rn experience. thank you everyone! if i decide to pay for quick results i will post my results to see if the "trick" remains true!!!
  10. VegasStudentNurse, I recently attended my state's (Michigan) student nurse convention in february and i visited a booth for a hospital in Reno, NV. She had some very good things to say and they hire new grads. if you are interested here's the link to the hospital. http://www.renown.org not sure if you have your heart set on Austin but thought I would pass along this info anyways.
  11. I didn't take the entire actual Hurst Review but I attended several individual sessions during my state convention and I found them to be excellent. They have a very "hands on" way of instructing on the patho that it really helps to answer the questions. Our school also uses the ATI and if i had a choice of which to use I would rather use the Hurst Review instead. I might just end up taking a Hurst Review myself anyways. Overall though based on the several sessions I attended I found them to be the best at helping me to understand the patho so that I could answer the questions correctly.
  12. I also completed the survey for you.
  13. Don't know if you already decided about the books but I would also be willing to pay for postage/shipping as well. If you still haven't decided who to send these to I would love to take them. Thanks!
  14. mlrios, i am also in my last semester of an ADN program and feel just really overwhelmed with it all too. i wish i had some words of advice but i really don't. just know that you aren't alone! i only have 13 weeks to go and there are days where i just want it to be done with! hang in there we are almost done!
  15. Thanks so much Daytonite. I was complicating the whole equation when I set it up. I was trying to use the 4.2ml that was listed in the problem when I didn't even need it at all. Thanks again!
  16. I am starting my Peds rotation next Monday and in advance we have some dosage calculations to complete prior to our first clinical day. I am having really hard time understanding how do calculate reconsituted meds. Could someone please help with some guidance? I checked the math thread but couldn't find help and the tutorial in my syllabus does a poor job at showing step by step how to get the answers. So for all you dosage math whizzes could you please help: The patient is an 18-month old boy, weighing 22 pounds. The medication order is "600 mg of ticarcillin I.V. every 6 hours in D5NS. The direction on the drug bottle says: "To reconstitute, add 4.2 ml of sterile water for injection. The resulting solution will equal 1 gram/5ml of ticarcillin. Refridgerated ticarcillin is stable for 24 hours" 1. How many ml of the reconstituted drug would you have to administer for the patient to receive the 600 mg ordered? 2. How many ml of the I.V. solution (volume to be infused) are needed to administer the desired dose of 600 mg of ticarcillin in a 50mg/ml concentration: If anyone could help I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!
  17. I just wanted to say hi to all current and future OCC nursing students. I am currently in the OCC Nursing program and thought it was cool to see at least a couple of other OCC students here at allnurses.com Hello to all!!!! If there is a separate forum or group to be a part of I would love to join. Anyone know of any???
  18. Thanks Sweetooth and Daytonite for your help. I knew it was something simple but for some reason I was getting tied up on the extra info.
  19. I posted here last week looking for some med calculation help and received an awesome response so i thought I would post again with another problem. I think what confuses me is that it's confusing with all the extra stuff they seem to put into the problem. Here's the problem I have: A client with a DVT is placed on a Heparin drip. The order reads to run the drip at 1200 per hour to the PTT between80-90 seconds. The concentration of the drip is 25,000 Units of Heparin in 250 mL of D5W. How many mL's per hour will the drip run? Can someone please help! Thanks!!!
  20. Thanks everyone for all the help. I knew it was a lot simpler than I was reading into and I was confusing myself even more by trying to use all the numbers they used in the question not really stopping to think that there would be exta stuff in there. THANKS EVERYONE!!!
  21. Hello everyone. I recently joined allnurses.com after finishing my first semester of nursing school this past fall. I was hoping someone could help me with a medication calculation problem I have been trying to figure out. i have looked through my books trying to find a way to figure this one out and I just can't find anything to help me. So i thought i would post and see if someone can help me. The question reads as follows: Pepsid 20mg IV push is ordered. Available is 20mg in 2 mL. It must be diluted in 8 mL. If the infusion rate is 10mg/min how many mins will it take to adminster 20mg? If someone could please help me and show me how to figure this out I would greatly appreciate it!
