Noticing a trend here
Now a question, what is a layperson? I am a non) or pre-nurse however you want to call it, are you simply talking about the MA's and such who gripe and complain when they are not even RN's? or as a whole with non-medical persons? please be more clear. It doesnt sound you like you dislike the entire non RN faculty who post here and I will be the first to admit I see griping instead of asking questions simply to gripe. I fell bad because one bad person reflect poor views upon the others. I guess i felt the need to speak up as a soon to be RN who loves the thought, care, gross/awesome procedures, and everything else the RN world has to offer. no hate much love peace out mose-

hey, i am currently a MA on the verge of enlisting. i know this is a RN thread but i couldn't think of anywhere else to post to get a good honest answer. Are there any of you who were medics before hand, i want to know more about the conditiond and how much if any help they are (some places here are reknowned for how RN's and their MA/CNA's dont get along) also wondering about trauma medics/ regular medics? is their a seperation like in the civi world? my apologies if some of this seems to ramble. much love mose-

specific medic postition?
hey there, now first off i'm a pre nursing student so please forgive any stupid questions but i cannot find anyone else to ask, is there a specific type of medic (espeacilly in AF)? what i mean is, are there trauma medics and then regular medics? i really want to get some experience in the trauma feild ( already have some out here ) but was really curious, when i talked to a recruiter and mentioned something about a difference but i cannot remember exactly what he said, also figured talking to actual military nurses and such might be a better insight. If so what are the differences you know of? sorry pretty long post. lol much love

Does being a CNA really help if you want to become a nurse?
I too agree with meghanRN spot on really, i am an MA and assist the doc not the nurse, only exception is that i love nursing and treat all the nurses i work with almost like docs. so i do dressing changes suture and staple removal, half the time if you ask someone they will at least show you how to do it. there are also classes if you really want to do other things, IV, blood draw, EKG stuff. thats just what i did though, best of luck to anyone on the path to being a great nurse. much love- mose

CNA troubles
I think every job especially in the medical field should have training for new employees, how else are they to know what is/ is not aceptable behavior on the floor, half the time i truly believe that if someone doesnt hear what not to do they start to feel like they have an excuse when they are called out on it, its not right. and it causes manager and head staff far more grief than need be. much love peace out

Is this typical for MA's ?
I agree that there are a fair share of MA's who in real life, just lookin for the fast route to not workin at walmart. what bothers me is that noone see's the deeper message in those commercials, "we'll get you through no matter what" now THAT is a scary thing to just announce that regardless of that person's personality, customer service skills, or retention skills for that matter , if you can do C average work, your in. I have seen this face to face my whole time in school, and in the field. blatent disregard due to too much attitude and wishing they were more qualified. wow that turned out to be longer than expected, guess i have some deep down thing about this as well, being as I get classed into this. anyway, much love peace out

Education in the military?
ok, thats kind of what i thought might be the case. well then , does anyone know if there is any loan repayment when enlisting or will i be paying the brunt of it while I am going then whatever is left after 4 yrs can be paid off, or is there some kind of equal minimum? i am pretty strapped for cash but if need be i can do the latter. sorry if these questions seem very... well "newbie" but just not sure where else to get good info from.

Education in the military?
hi, i am currently a pre nursing student (MA) who's trying to figure out which is a better choice, getting my AS or BSN before enlisting or after, i do understand that deployment can interfere with schooling but none has stated exactly what you can do if it happens, do you have to start over? is there a grace period till you get back? online courses? i have been trying to research this for a while now, i come from an airforce family but would go navy if it better suited my goal, to be a trauma nurse, i would not have batted this around for so long except i have 2children and a wife at home and if i am going to leave home i really don't want to waste time.

Blood pressures and IV sites ...
do you always have to use the arm or can you use a thigh cuff and bypass that all together? it probably depends on the Pt huh?

Tattoos and epidurals
hmm, well my wife gave birth just under 3 mo ago and her tatoo wasn't an issue as far as her doc was concerned and it was only a yr old, but i wonder if the dimentions of the tatoo is what determines what is safe and what is not? hers was a turtle about the size of a fuji apple.
