  1. The original poster wanted to know if they should study the brand name AND the generic name or if knowing just one would suffice but it seems the thread has gotten off topic. All of my review CDs/books list both the brand and generic names in practice questions. Can someone who recently took the NCLEX let us know if both are listed on that exam? It may be less work to know only one name, but it may help when your working to know both, since different people will call them by either name.
  2. We have to wear white pants for clinicals, white undies are NOT the way to go. Generally speaking - skin tone works best, regardless of the skin color. Some have purchased that "can't see through me" line, seems to help. Dark undies work okay too, definitely not anything bright or with lots of pattern...
  3. thank you so much for sharing your story. I too feel nursing school is going too fast (even though I'm getting good grades). This is exactly what I needed to hear to relieve some stress. Thanks again.
  4. Hrm. I suggest apply for the ADN and to as many BSN programs as possible to increase her chances of getting into the BSN. She should just apply and hope for the best without spending too much time worrying about how competitive it is - its usually not productive to do this. Good luck to both of you! I hope she gets into the BSN :nuke:.
  5. also, she would be out of the time spent in classes. While she may gain valuable knowledge, this may not be the best use of it. Also, is she actually interested in the BSN program or is she ambivalent or is it just a matter of 09 vs 10?
  6. congrats! I remember what a great feeling that was. Enjoy the time you have before school starts! and even once you start, remember to take time out sometimes to have fun - it'll preserve your sanity
  7. In the back of my mind I'm thinking I may want to be a wound/ostomy nurse. The first pt I had with c.diff I had to leave the room - almost vomited. I was surprised because smells usually don't cause that kind of reaction. I guess I'll have to carry Vicks around in my pocket too.
  8. Thanks for posting the number of days it takes to complete the program once you've finished step 1, thats exactly the info I was looking for.
  9. Sorry to hear that you didn't pass. Perhaps Suzanne's plan is a worthwhile route for you to follow, receiving emails might help you with scheduling. Maybe you can find someone who will keep you accountable for sticking to a study schedule? I plan on using Suzanne's plan when I take the NCLEX early next yr. I wish you the best and pray that it will work out for you.
  10. Thanks for the tip about practicing pediatric conversions, I can't remember having to do much of that during my peds rotation, so I might not have given it much thought. Thanks again!
  11. seems like counting the numbers and types of questions might cause more stress
