  1. I just read an ad for a IT position for EPIC Implementation at a large hospital nearby. States you do not need IT experience. And they will train you to take EPIC certification. I'm ok with computer skills, not a "super user". Along with the resume it asks about salary requirements. What range does an IT make? Just wondering because it sounds interesting. Thanks!
  2. What company are you working for? Anyone hear of Medical Case Management Group (MCMG)?
  3. careylee310--have you gotten any jobs yet?

  5. Sorry it took a while to reply--how did the interview go? What do you think?
  6. Anyone? I was hired by this company. I can't find anything on them on the bbb website. Their main office is based out of Maine and they are hiring independent contractors on the east coast.
  7. Anyone hear of this company--Medical Case Management Group (MCMG)? They do case management for workers comp cases.
  8. I am all for giving vaccines to my children. I even looked up on Gardasil when my daughters doctor suggested she have it. We all want to protect our children and after looking into the vaccine, my daughter was given the first shot. Afterwards, I started reading about all of the negative effects: the fainting, clots, paralysis, DEATHS!!. Also, I read it may only be effective for 4 years, they arent exactly sure. Right now, I am scared to continue with the injections because of this. As I want her to be safe and healthy, I also dont want to subject her to the possible adverse effects of this vaccine.
  9. I have the recruiters name and number if you want it. Just PM me.
  10. I did hh for almost 6 months and then left. I was PT staff and my daily schedule was frequently changed by the office. I was given admits, and then my regular pts revisits were given to someone else, because these people did not want to open cases. I finally got fed up with it and left. while I knew that schedule would sometimes change, I liked to know what my days were like the night before. Since I also had to leave by a certain time, the change during the day would often make me late to pick up my kids! I did like visiting the pts, most of the time, it was just the changing of schedules and also the tons of paperwork when I got home. Now, I just started legal nurse consulting and so far, so good! Good luck to everyone!
  11. Yes I am in NYC. I wasnt able to make the open house but I did send in my resume. Do you work in elementary or junior high and are you the only nurse in your school? I'm just a little nervous because I have not had any experience as school nurse.
  12. I worked as a student nurse intern between my 1st and 2nd year of nursing school. I think it was the best thing to do! I learned so much that summer, much more than I learned doing clinicals!! Also, when I applied for a job when I was graduating I then got the job on that floor because the manager liked the way I worked!! So I would go for it.
  13. You definitely will learn alot at Maimo!
  14. I worked at Maimonides. I think I know what floor you are talking about although I didnt know they were calling it a specific vent unit. I worked med-surg and we had tons of vents on the floors (too many sometimes!!) It is a good hospital though, always busy, sometimes short staffed, but I guess that is all around! Good luck!
  15. I saw an ad for school nurse open house. I think I might like that and the schedules would work out with my kids (holidays, vacations... ). I'm just nervous because I have only did med-surg (for 16yrs) and feel that I might not know what to do. I worked in the hospital and short time in home health and I need a change. I feel I am so burned out right now. I have no peds experience, except for my kids of course! My family says I'm too much of a "worrier"! What kinds of things do you do during the day and do you think that my med surg experience would be enough? Thanks.
  16. I worked in med-surg for 15yrs and 1 1/2 home health and I'm totally burned out. Trying to figure out what I want to do now. Looking into something part time, maybe at home (have 3 kids). I took legal nurse consulting course last summer, havent been able to do anything with that yet, although I would like to! Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

Thank you. Where are you working now? I just left home health and trying to figure out what I want to do next.

Where is the best place to look for finding a school nursing job. I've worked in med surg for 16yrs and am now in home health-which I want to leave. I've never did school nursing, so I'm a little nervous about it, but thought it might be interesting and also good because I have 3 kids (scheduling wise with days off, etc).

the agency is very short staffed. i see anywhere from 3-5pts depending on what is needed (soc, revisits..). i am getting stuck late frequently and i took part time specifically because i have young kids. i have lots of work to do at home too. i do have a laptop but i dont chart in home because since i have limited time in the field and am afraid because you never know what you will find when you go to a home and schedules can change. i am off today, but am catching up on paperwork...dont know how long i can take anymore!!

I just started in home health 4mos ago after 15yrs in hospital. I work "part time" supposed to be 5hrs per day. Most of the time it runs over. I have average 4-5patients/day. Its very frustrating right now. Sometimes schedule changes during the day and it throws everything off. When I get home I then have all my charting/case management to do, along with family obligations, kids, etc. I find myself staying up late to finish with work and by the end of the week I'm so beat. Everything seems to be only work!! I feel I cant take it anymore, but also wont go back to hospital!! Dont know what to do...very unhappy
  21. I was surprised to hear after many years working in the hospital, now only in home health 3 months, that nurses change suprapubic catheters in the home. My supervisor went with me and I observed procedure. Pts wife very anxious about someone new doing catheter. I would have to change it next time though. I think she is going to make me very nervous!!
  22. Bay Ridge/Bensonhurst is very nice. There is access to trains and buses also if you dont have a car.
  23. Thanks so much. I will definitely look into that, maybe teaching CPR classes. I will have to find out what I would have to do--I guess getting in touch with the American Heart Association.
