  1. 2004-05, I completed all my generals at Inver Hills CC..applied 2 yrs straight, 3.8 gpa, and the last class I took was Nursing Assist, because where I was working I was making more money and didnt want to take the pay cut.. well needless to say, I didnt get into the program..so I I decided to LPN bridge RN, no more waiting around...It hurt me..but it may be different now..I will keep my fingers crossed for ya!
  2. here in MN we private duty nurses make top pay... but crappy benefits.. i work for 2 different pediatric agencies and medical insurance at both places ran about $750/mo for family coverage with dental... needless to say we are uninsured.
  3. about 20k, now, and i'm still in transistion.... but mortagage payments, 3 kids and a drop to 1 income... well and we didnt qualify for financial aid.. so loans were the only way for me... yes.. i'll probably owe forever! but at least i'll be happy!
  4. I seen this one as well... either 48 hours mystery or 20/20 or on TRU TV(court tv) .. the baby was a new born try gooogle
  5. most do..now i heard from a friend of a friend who went out to river falls WI and go into the LPN program right away (this was about a year ago).. it might be worth the drive.
  6. I too worked as a NA & Unit Coordinator and agree that i learned more Unit coordinating than as a nursing assistant
  7. mpls has an bonus $5000.00 for full time LPN's in LTCF the twin cities are screaming for nurses and they pay well too!
  8. i had secured a job before i took boards.. it was a conditional hire based on passing, i was officially hired about 3 days later (after taking boards) when my name showed up on the Board registry as licensed and i was on the job site in less then a week.

:nurse:I work for 2 seperate home care agencies with 2 different clients... with those 2 i get full time hours..one agency requires block scheduling.. the other is pick and choose.. i love the flexibility of home care.. i rarely have to work holidays (family wants to be alone )... I have encountered a few issues with home care nursing (over bearing mother & boundary issues) but for the most part i love it...
  10. I am in transition now... it's a 2 credit class.. 1 credit is skill building (refreshing), and the other is theory based review... pretty easy stuff!
  11. Pediatric home care is awesome!! i work 3rd shift and love it... i get to work 12 hour shifts for 2 different clients (3 shifts a week including a weekend).. i am in transition for the RN program and i also have 3 kids at home and a husband... after my clients are in bed i have the rest of the night as free time (exception is routine cleaning, disinfecting, repositioning, diaper changes ect.. ) lot of time to work on home work and study!!!! It works for me....
  12. In MPLS/ St Paul the starting wage is about $22/hr in home care, they dont hire LPN's in the hospitals here, clinic jobs are about 16-17$/hr, LTCF 18-19$/hr... and there are alot of jobs here for both LPN's and RN's...
