  1. Hello all, I was told about a program through college network. Basically they have a LVN to BSN bridge program thru Indiana state univ. I was told even though its online, you earn you degree and they told me they are accreditted by the board however, they were not on the boards website. If anyone has heard of this program or currently taking courses I would really appreciate more info about how program works.
  2. I live in los angeles, california. My first job as a new grad at a snf paid 22.00/hr but benefits suck.
  3. Thanks for all the advice. I landed a job at a LTCF and I start on the 19th of May. Once again thank you and god bless.
  4. I dont know what part of CA you are, but if you are in the LA area they have a school called westcoast college, where can get your AS and RN degree all at the same time. If you already have some preqs. that even better (less money) , but it is not required and the program is 18 months. Try to look them up online.
  5. Hello all, I graduated in July of 07, took boards in Nov 07, passed in Dec. 07. I start my first job in a LTC on May 19,08. I was president of my class, graduated with 3.7 overall gpa, and I am a single mom with three boys:yeah:. I plan on going back to school for my RN next year.
  6. I graduated in july of 07, passed boards in dec. and I just landed a job at a LTC facility starting out at $22.00 an hour. I am in Los Angeles, CA
  7. I added my clinical experience on my resume. My career advisor at school said it was a good idea, because employers could see what type of settings you have been in. Just be careful, because alot of companies, especially registries will think it is paid experience. So in my cover letter I specified that all my clinical experience was while I was in school so there is no confusion. I graduated in July of 07, and I just got a job on the spot at a LTC faciltiy. Just be patient and keep posting threads if you need anymore help. I know it helped me. Good Luck!:nuke:
  8. I was the president of my class for cryin out loud, with a 3.7 overall gpa. Something has got to give. I'm going to pray on it,:bowingpur and what will be will be.
  9. Thanks for the advice. I did have my mind set on just acute settings until I realized the slow and long process of it all. I did have my resume reviewed and update at school with the career advisor. The thing is I have never had a hard time finding a job, I think that is why I am so bumed. This week I got a list of LTC facilities and I have put in five apps already. Hopefully, I will get a call back by next week for an interview and land a job. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
  10. I live in Los Angeles, CA. In LA they rarely offer LVN'S a sign on bonus only RN'S
  11. Thanks for the suggestions. I live in Los Angeles, CA and most of the interviews I've done go really well. They say I will call you in a week for a second interview but never do. I applied at a snf and the DON seemed really interested in hiring me. I was told by the HR staff they would do a background check and call me in 3 days, I never got the call. So I figured I would be more aggressive and call back to see what happened. When I called I was told to call back in a week, because administration was on vacation. When I called. The DON just said I'm working on it and hung up on me. Today had an appointment at a registry when I got there know one was there, so I called from the front door the manager told me they would be out of the office the whole day, but know one said that when I talked to them on friday. I am so frustrated beyond belief. Can the economy be the blame?
  12. I passed NCLEX in december of 07. I recieved my license in Feb. of 08, every since then I have been looking for work. I have been on several interviews with no luck. I have applied to SNF'S, hospitals and private practices. I also have worked with my school in hopes of finding a job and no luck. It seems everyone wants someone with a year experience, how do I get it if know one gives me a chance. Maybe, I should go back to customer service. Can anyone give me any advice I would really appreciate it.
