  1. Hi Nurses, I hope some of you may be able to help me with this question. I dont have any one else to ask, because apparently the people i am around never move out of their comfort zone. I need some help understanding how having multiple licenses in different states work. Any examples of how you managed to have multiple licenses would really help. thanks, Diana
  2. hi everyone. i tried looking up posts regarding my question, but didnt find what i needed. i also tried calling the board of nursing but the line is temporarly disconnected. (great huh?) so, im asking you guys for help. I used to live in CA and now live in NV. I had my license endorsed from CA to NV last yr. Now my license in CA is expired and considered "deliquent." if i want to renew it, it costs 230.00 for active or 230.00 for inactive. I currently have an ACTIVE license in NV. Is it wise to keep both my licenses? i really dont know what to do. keeping both is costly. do any of you know if you can have your license endorsed back to your original state? (if you let the license go of course) i dont want to mess up any of my chances to work in Ca again as an LVN/LPN, but i really dont want to pay for 2 licenses and keep up the renewals and CE's for both. anyone been in a similar situation?? any input helps. thanks in advance
  3. thanks for the replies. i got some great ideas. :tku:
  4. this is what the post says: Positions in this function include a LPN/LVN roles responsible for overseeing and participating in day to day clinical care of patients. Employees are involved in direct patient care in a clinic (senior care) environment.
  5. I'm having a phone interview next week. Can anyone give me an idea of what kind of questions they might ask or have asked you in one of your phone interviews. please share! this would be my first interview by phone. i really need a job and i need all the help i can get to make a great first impression. thanks in advance :)
  6. It's my fault... I assumed 8 hr+ shifts. At all the places i have worked at, i have never encountered a nurse work less than 8 hrs a day whether it was full- time, part -time or on call. I eneded up leaving that job. My pay wasn't worth the hassle and it barley covered my daycare expenses for my kids. I also noted that this facility liked to staff their nurses for 7 1/2 hr shifts instead of 8. WTH? just a few hrs shy of full-time. i think it's unfair bec they can't even get benefits.
  7. Hi everyone, Is it common to work 5- 6 hours a day, 4-5 days a week for a part-time job? I had a rude awakening when i started a new job as an LPN at a clinic and found out that their interpretation of PART-TIME meant 5 hr shifts. I was honestly expecting 8 hr shifts, 2 -3 or even 4 days a week. Now I feel stupid. The last time I worked 5 hr shifts was when I was 17 working fast food.
  8. esunada.... i just got a flashback of my clinical eval with my second semester clinical instructor all over again. same thing happened to me. if i could go back, i would tell her to kiss my behind! i did not need to be loud and obnoxious like some of my fellow classmates to get through nursing school. she even questioned my ability to make it as a nurse because she thought i was too quiet. i did not find the need to step on other people just so i could answer the question first, or be sneaky and get the first procedure (foley, ng tube, shots etc..)i did answer questions, i did talk to my pts, i did do procedures... i just didn't tell her of every single moment. i recommend to just be yourself. your knowledge, grades and skills will show. it's sad that i almost contemplated kissing her behind just so she would give me a great eval. i finished my lpn program, graduated and have had no problem getting jobs. loud isnt always better! listening is! just get through nursing school.
  9. Try changing jobs... LTC made me think about my career choice as well. I used to work LTC Psych. had to deal with lots of BS from dealing with lazy staff to being short staffed and doing 2 peoples jobs etc.... I would always stress about work even on my days off. it was horrible. i would even get calles on my days off to deal with work situations. i finally decided to look for another job and applied at a clinic. I was an LVN at an OBGYN clinic. I loved it! the stress was still there, but when it was time to go home.... i left work at WORK. made me see nusing in a whole different light. I really recommend lookng for a new job. Maybe a differnt LTC facility or even a different specialty. good luck to you. Keep going for your BSN :)
  10. thx. Sunshinedaisy for your response. It kind of gives me an idea of what to expect for CSN for now. I've been looking for posts with any LPN-RN bridge info, but i haven't seen any posts so far. I'm just really going to have to wait until i talk to a counselor, but i might as well wait for my transcripts so that they can address ALL my questions. Thx again :)
  11. HI everyone, Anyone here have done or know someone in the LPN- RN bridge program at CSN? I'm interested in applying, but i dont know how bad or good my chances are. I'm no where near close to applying yet ( i still need to take pre reqs), but i just want to make sure im on the right track. i went to CSN for the health programs orientation last week, but bec im already an LPN and im intersted in the LPN-RN they told me that i wasnt required to attend the orientation. ( confused!! ...bec its a limited entry program and supposedly if your interested in a limited entry program you HAVE to attend a health prog orientation) Anyways...... They gave me a packet with the info for the adv placement for LPN's and told me to send my transcripts to CSN and that was that....... Im planning on setting up a meeting with a health counselor, but im going to wait until my transcripts arrive at CSN..... meanwhile i have no answers..... Max # of students admitted= space availability. ( what does that mean??? 1? 2? 0?) what semester do AP LPN's enter the RN program? or do they have a seperate group for "AP LPN's?" Anyone with any input please chip in
  12. hi there. just wanted to share that i used my clinical experience as "educational experience" on my resume. like you, i had no experience in nursing. it also helps to write a cover letter. use resume paper (white). Show up in person. It really makes a difference. dont focus on your lack of experience. try to talk about on your willingness to learn dress appropriately, and make a great first impression to everyone. Everyone is watching. good luck on your job search.
  13. strange, but it could break the ice. i personally would not do it.
  14. nevermind. I found out the noc shift on my own.
  15. Welcome. Hope you got the job. keep us posted:wink2:
