The humbling rejection letter.... what to do about it.
I had the same problem back in April. My stats weren't that great, but I applied for a single school in my hometown and didn't even get an interview. It was a huge letdown. I brushed myself off, obtained my CCRN application and then applied to 10 different schools. The very first one i interviewed at accepted me and have gotten interviews at all the other schools. I would definately recommend getting your CCRN.

Gooding Institute not accepting new students?
Has anyone heard anything on this? I sent in my application for the this fall already and called them today asking if they received everything. I was told that there is a good chance that they won't be accepting another nurse anesthesia class. There is one starting soon and that could be the last one unless they affiliate with a university. Anymore details anyone?

What time of day do they post them? It has been 8 days now and mine still isn't up. This is getting ridiculous.

Tennessee RN - How long to get license #?
I took boards Sunday and am still waiting for mine as well as I don't get RN pay until it can be pulled up on TN BON site. Others at work say it takes 7-10 days for it to post.

Arterial Line dressings
After we pull femoral lines on my floor we use 4x4s. Usually put a pressure dressing made out of 4x4s taped down with silk tape or elastiplast depending on the doctor. This is for the docs that close using manual pressure and his usually come back with lines because he gives them quite a bit of heparin. The other docs use perclose or minx and they come to our floor from the cath lab with a few 4x4s covered with a clear bandage. Don't have to do anything special with them...usually change the dressing to a bandaid after 3-4 hours.
- Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?

Took my NCLEX-RN this morning
This helped me on the test Infection Control Mnemonics - Nursing for Nurses

Took my NCLEX-RN this morning
Hey everybody. Took my NCLEX this morning at 8am. I ended up with 122 questions. I had 2 med calc and 13 SATA. Took me about an hour and 15 minutes to take the test. Just got back to the hotel room and did the PV trick and got the good pop-up! I'm crossing my fingers that I passed! Quite a bit of Infection control, pharm, and delegation/priority. Most of the pharm questions were more along the lines of side effects with the medication than what they are for. The Mneumonics really helped with the infection control questions so definately study them!

ATT in TN
Hope you got your ATT by now. If not this is my experience: Graduated May 15, 2010 School sent transcripts and all required information May 26th (took forever) Received my ATT this Monday on the 14th. Scheduled to take my NCLEX this Sunday on the 20th. Most centers were full for a little while near me. I am from Martin. I checked in Marion, Memphis, Nashville, and Evansville. Nashville had one the soonest on the 20th and I believe Memphis had one on the 27th. Other than that they were all booked up except for around July 7th. Hope this helps and you get your ATT soon.

Average Salary for ADN vs BSN
Research has proven it. A quick Google search came up with this site. AACN - Media - Impact of Education on Nursing Practice Fact Sheet It discusses the various published research which shows patient outcome is better when the nurse has their BSN over ADN.

A question to new Nursing school grads who were able to find a job.
I'm from west Tennessee and graduated Saturday with my BSN. I had a job lined up about the first week of May for ICU stepdown.

Fingerprinting for Licensure Question
I just did my fingerprinting a couple weeks ago as I graduate in less than 2 weeks (yay). Anyways, all you do is go to cogents website and put in all of your information and pay $48. You print out the form it tells you and take it to a fingerprinting station (was a sheriff's dept for me) and they fingerprint you and send you on your way. You only have to wait overnight between doing the online application to getting fingerprinted. Not sure about out of state though.

Associates or Bachelors?
I'm graduating in 12 days with my BSN and regardless it isn't easy to find a job anywhere. Many of my classmates have yet to find a job and are still interviewing everywhere. I am a strong proponent in getting your BSN as it has been researched that patient outcomes are better when the nurse has their bachelor's and also it elevates our profession as a whole by having your bachelor. I have talked to some who have done Unions program for people with degrees and they said if they could do it over again they wouldn't. They said it was so much stuff to take in in 12 months and there is no way you would be able to work during it. Not trying to discourage you, just letting you know what they said. Best of luck to you in whatever you choose.

Questions for 30 unit option nurses or diploma nurses.
Yeah, what the previous poster said. Regardless if you are diploma, ADN, BSN your license will say the same thing- RN. The only problem is if you want to go back to school for anything you will need your BSN. If you want to be a nurse why not start out on that path, you will get more time in school which will give you some extra experience and some places will pay a little bit more for a BSN.

TNA Conference in Nashville
I enjoyed the morning but it lost interest after lunch. I didn't like the ANA lady preaching how great ObamaCare is when I don't agree with it at all. I'm just ready for May 15 graduation. When do you graduate? I'm still waiting to hear back for a job at Jackson General.
