This reasoning has got me beat!! Is there not hundreds of nurses graduating every year from nursing schools there when there is no jobs? And when they pass NLE exam the PRC keeps on Registering Nurses? Yes and the PRC and BON has done steps to curb the problem and the government has started to create jobs for nurses albeit unsustainable but that is probably the best remedy.

Hi everyone, has anybody here applied to ACN, formerly, CON and ...? I thinkI had some disappointments with them because 1. I have given them all documentations needed last March and they told me to wait. I did. 2. Followed-up regularly as to the schedule of selection for the July intake. They kept telling me that I am on the selection list. 3. Followed-up on June 2, only to be told that I am not accommodated for the July intake. 4. They told me that I am still on the selection list for their upcoming intakes. Having been disappointed, I submitted my documents to ETEA and IHNA. Now, I a, not sure about these two schools. I read previous comments though. Having read previous comments, it dawned on me that Australia does not seem to need anymore foreign-trained nurses. So questions again, 1. Why would the AHPRA still accept applications for registrations if such is the case? 2. Why should schools that offer the BP still offer it when there are already lots of Aussie nurses who are hard in finding jobs? I am still hopeful to get to Oz and be registered and probably find a job but then again, if such is the scenario, what future awaits me and the others who might have borrowed money just to get registered as a nurse and Australia and then be jobless after. Probably the AHPRA and the ANMC should look into this. Do not make overseas nurses only sources of revenue by going through the process and then be jobless when they are finally registered. as far as i know deltacare (USmedical staff) has helped me process my papers... my case is still pending though... they came here in tuguegarao the other day and there are nurses who are already in packet 2... they explained that it can take us 2 to 5 years for a chance at an immigrant visa, but they assured that we will have sure jobs when we finally make it there.

Deltacare hasn't asked any monies from me now. The 3,000 dollars will be paid when i get there on a staggered basis. The said amount will be for my plane ticket, visa screen certificate, a month's rent, attorney's fees and other fees to be paid for my visa application (I-120). They said they'll be following the prevailing rate when i get there.

i am also interested to work in australia. can you assist me on how to go about it?

Hospitals here in the Philippines now require CI's to undergo 2 months of training before they can be allowed to handle students in the hospital. I know, that still isn't enough but it could be a solution to the problem of having seasoned nurses as CI's . A seasoned nurse would probably be abroad or already a nurse supervisor who would mostly do paperworks..

hi there big heart. I am a second courser, my first course was a degree in medical technology. I took my BSN for 2 years. I attended all my classes and duty hours. I am disappointed that NZNC allegedly does not allow second coursers to practice there. I tried to email the NZNC to inquire about the matter but they haven't sent me any reply. Would you be so kind to do a bit of information gathering if they really absolutely won't accept second coursers? Thanks in advance. I'm ok with the IELTS. I actually also started for an immigrant visa for the US and sat in both CGFNS and NCLEX and passed both, but since I may have to wait for 5 years or more for a chance of working in the US, I would like to try NZ or OZ...

Most nurses who have 3 years or more of clinical experience are abroad... or they're not allowed by their employers to have a part time teaching job... You can't say that i barely have more education than my students. I've a good and solid theoretical background (A degree in medical technology / medical laboratory science + a BSN). These two courses are related in the Philippines I don't know how it goes in your country. I teach basic nursing skills. If you expect me to know how to use your sophisticated machines then, yeah i'd say i lack the skills but that's not all there is in nursing. I am halfway through my MSN (the school is an ISO certified school and some of our lecturers (filipinos) are in america, we communicate through the net). You cannot discount the fact that there are still excellent nurses being produced in the Philippines. We cannot and should not compare ourselves to you.

It has been four years since my cousin, who's a nurse and is currently working in CA, convinced me to take up nursing instead of pursuing a degree in medicine. I never never dreamt to work abroad when i finished my degree in medical technology. I had a good paying job right after a became a registered medical technologist. So when my cousin came for vacation, she talked about the opportunities in nursing. I thought about it for sometime and finally convinced myself to give it a try. It was then that I started my American Dream. My American dream is far from being realized. I took the initial first steps and I leave it at that. To me, it won't matter anymore whether i get to America soon or after 5 to 10 years or so... It's elusive, yes, but i remain hopeful. Maybe, i'll try other countries, but right now i am content with my job as a nurse educator. I have a few clinical skills, thanks for my 8 months of hospital work, but I believe that everything can be learned. So, I will keep enriching myself both in theory and in practice. To me, my american dream is to be a knowledgeable and skillful nurse. I suppose I can fulfill that anywhere.

i believe that there is a correlation... the preparation is not that different because for both my NLE, CGFNS and NCLEX i read the same references... The higher your score for your NLE, the better are your chances in passing the CGFNS and NCLEX... Of course if you get a low score in the NLE it doesn't also mean that you're not going to pass the NCLEX but you may have to work harder...

that's good news... it's a challenge to filipino nurses to excel more in both the clinical and theoretical aspect of nursing... pass those exams just like eating cake... lol

so are second coursers a no-no in NZ? i am a second courser and i've started processing documents required by NZNC... I don't wanna go through the whole process and be denied in the end...

they should not only lobby for nurses' salary in the government owned hospitals... they should include those private hospitals... i am currently working in a private hospital owned by a religious group and i only receive a meager 5 thousand pesos (about 100 US dollars) a month... if they want nurses and other medical and allied health professionals to stay then they should start giving what is due to us...

hi there! I currently hold a US license as a registered nurse in the state of Vermont, can I apply for reciprocity to get a license in NZ? I am planning to try and work in NZ. How is the CAP like? Would my US license help me in any way? I've a usable score in the IELTS (7.5 band, no score below 7 in the 4 categories)

I have several questions about the CAP. Any info would be appreciated 1. Can the CAP be waived if I passed the NCLEX? Can I apply for reciprocity? (I passed the NCLEX under the Vermont BON) 2. What do I expect during the CAP? 3. How is the CAP like? Additional inputs are appreciated.

Over the past days, I've been thinking about my plight... I've accomplished a few things on my way to the US but as everyone knows, they're not opening their doors to foreign nurses any sooner. I've decided to start in NZ then perhaps go to Australia and then to the US. Is that quite possible? I plan to wait for the US retrogression to ease up in these countries and then work my way to the US or if I find AUS and NZ fulfilling then I'd stay in either country.. Is that a good decision?

I've had the same dilemma. I had to think really hard... Yeah, the US economy is not at its best at this time... Manufacturing companies etc are going to China... Even foreign owned companies here in the Philippines are opting to go to China because of its cheap labor... I decided to try another country... I'll disclose the country once I'm there lol... Inshallah... I was angry at myself for being lured into taking up nursing but I came to love what a nurse does. I guess that helped me cope up with the frustration of not being able to be a nurse in the US. I've passed the NCLEX, CGFNS and got a workable score in the IELTS and I'm still here in the Philippines... lol... I believe I can still use these someday... maybe after 10 years... It doesn't matter...

I was in the same dilemma. I passed the nclex for VT last december 2007 and my license expire by march 2009. I got in touch with the VT BON and they told me that as long as I work as a nurse anywhere in the world then they'd be renewing my license. I am holding on to that.
