i started working as a new RN here in the US a month ago and i am 6 months pregnant at that time. i was assigned at the L&D unit. i thought i can make it through the 12 hour shift, 3 days in a row but i was wrong. ive been staying at home for many months before i got hired and my body was not used to all that stress. i asked to be transferred to another unit, now i am caring for post partum patients and their babies which is not so stressful for me. you can most probably survive school but its hard to survive work. if youre pregnant and working, choose an area that is not critical care and does not require stressful situations, like in the nursery. caring for newborn babies dont feel like work to me since i actually enjoy it a lot and i am able to practice ;-) now im 7 months pregnant and yes there are times when i really need to sit down and rest. good thing i can do that while doing my charting. my lower back still hurts but not as much when i was in L&D where i had to be walking/running aroung the hallways a lot. i wish you luck on your plans to have a baby. my baby has been a great blessing to me. i passed the nclex and became an RN while pregnant. she is my lucky charm.

Hi EFAN, once you get your permanent license in the state you applied, thats the time you can apply for license by endorsement in another state. i had to wait for my license in california to be issued to me bec i need to have it photocopied and notarized, as one of the requirements by the nevada state board along with other requirements. you dont have to have a job offer to apply.

i applied for license by endorsement in nevada (i am licensed in california), it only took 3 weeks to get my temporary RN license and 6 weeks to get my permanent license.

wear business attire, show them the CPR certification even if expired, who knows they might sponsor you as part of the training program. good luck

i suggest you get experience as a nurse in the philippines first, at least for a year, and then look for an agency that could sponsor you. i heard there are agencies who sponsor international exams if they find you qualified. about the review, it is not necessary to enroll in a review center, you can review on your own and save money. good luck.

i have just been hired as an L&D nurse and would start working on september 10. im 26 weeks pregnant, although not showing much. i didnt tell my employer i am pregnant, not that i was hiding it but i just feared it might have a bearing on their decision to hire me. they found me qualified for the job, and i dont think my pregnancy would hinder me from performing my job well. i know that eventually i have to tell my superior or im pretty sure she'll notice. can anybody advice me on how i will bring it up or any advice on this matter. thanks

hi everyone. i'm a licensed nurse in the philippines with less than a year of clinical experience there. now im here in the US and i recently passed the NCLEX and im looking for a job. i have been sending applications, posting my resume online. im a feeling a little discouraged because i feel like most of the hospitals require experience for at least a year here in the US, which i obviously lack. i received two calls already and both were requiring experience. how does one get a nursing job when most require experience? i know its a little early to feel discouraged since i have only started to look for a job online for a week, but since im new here, i just feel totally lost. i would appreciate any advice anyone would give. thank you.

nope. no need for the IELTS. i graduated in the phils, a year later got married to a filipino (who is a naturalized american citizen). living in the US now and an RN as well. the IELTS is required if you will undergo the visa screen process. if you are an immigrant, it is no longer required. good luck to you and your fiance.

answers to your questions: 1) color of eyes: BRN for brown, BLK for black 2) primary language: FILIPINO 3) paste or glue on four sides 4) social security, write NONE request for transcript form 1) number of years in the specific school where you attended, i believe they have additional spaces in case you attended two or more schools. re fingerprint card: if they sent you one, just send one, if two then send two. no need to add if they only require one fingerprint card. i hope this helps. good luck. you can also check their website to guide you in filling up the forms.

the oath taking ceremony is just a formality, the actual oath is in paper, the one that you sign at the PRC when you pass along with other papers that you have to sign there. when you pass the NLE, you have to report to the PRC, submit a photo, be there for fingerprinting and signing. if you do not go through this procedure, you will not be issued a license bec it is required that you show up in person at the PRC prior to issuance of a license.

hi, i come from bicol too. what part of bicol do you come from? i live here in the US now and just recently passed the NCLEX. i self reviewed using Saunders and Kaplan books and CDs. you can also check the NCLEX forum, there you can find lots of tips and experiences shared by nurses about NCLEX. good luck

Hi welcome to the land of opportunity. i suggest you contact your state board of nursing or you can check their website regarding forms and requirements needed to get eligibility to take the NCLEX. after BON finds your requirements complete, in a couple of months or so they will issue you an eligibility notice and after that you can already register for the exam and have your ATT (authority to test). while processing your requirements and waiting for your ATT it wouldnt hurt if you start reviewing. you can use Saunders and Kaplan books and CDs (which worked for me). that way youll have plenty of time to practice and get yourself ready for the NCLEX. good luck.

they provide an erasable board and pen, when the board is full, you can request for another one, you can have as much as you need, you just need to raise your hand to request for it. you dont have to erase whatever you have jotted down on the board coz it wil just make your hands dirty.

the school where you graduated from would most probably integrate your credited units in your TOR when you graduate. in that case, you dont have to send records from both schools, but only from the school where you graduated. i attended 3 schools and i only sent the TOR from where i graduated BSN. good luck.

hi there, i just like to know how long it took for filipino nurses out there who took the nclex to get their results especially if they applied in ca. i'm an rn in the philippines and migrated in the us a few months ago. i took the nclex last month. i dont have my social security number yet, which is pretty much like the case of most filipino nurses who took the nclex. thanks in advance for any info you can share about this matter.

The Q & A (book and CD) by saunders was a great help to me. you get alternate type questions there (select all that apply, etc), and the delegating/prioritizing. it's a great way to practice for the NCLEX. Good luck

hi everyone. i took the NCLEX last june 25 monday, i got 90 questions, finished it in 2 hours. i kinda felt good about it coz i had reviewed most of the topics in the questions. i just hope my feeling is right! for now, i do not want to freak out while waiting, im happy the pressure is off and i can relax while waiting. theres no point in worrying coz whatever i do i cant change anything anymore. i did my best and took my time in answering questions. it does help a lot if you keep yourself relaxed the whole time youre taking the test which i did. i was very early for my schedule. my schedule was at 8am, i was there a few mins before 7am and they allowed me to take the test at 710am. i was the only one then at that time. for all those who will be taking the exam, i wish you all good luck, practice practice and practice as much as you can. for me, i retained a lot of information through practicing answering questions in the CD and the Q & A book. but i started with the comprehensive review. which is a good way to start. i graduated in 2005 and i needed to refresh my memory. i used saunders comprehensive review, and Q & A books, and the kaplan 2007 edition (strategies). again good luck to all those who will take the exam. this forum has helped me a lot, and i hope i can be of help to others too.

Hi Everyone! i'm scheduled to take my exam this coming june 25 and i'm getting butterflies in my stomach already. i've been reviewing like crazy, i'm just using one book - Comprehensive Review by Saunders. i'll be done in a few days. i swore to myself i'll read the entire book. then i'll start answering the Q & A also by Saunders. i used to be very diligent in my studies, i can go on for hours for as long as i have something to munch on :-). now, i'm getting sleepy most of the time coz i'm 10 weeks pregnant, makes me wanna take a lot of breaks and take naps! anyway, the NCLEX forum has been very helpful to me and i'd like to ask for your support and prayers as i take the most crucial exam of my life! i would love to hear from you.
