  1. What role does the nurse play in your hospital during fire or disaster? THx
  2. I took NCLEX yesterday at 1. It took me an hour and forty five min. I had 75 questions. I tried the treat and it wont let me through to the cc page. I really hope this works. I can not tell you all how high my anxiety level is. I am suppose to start at a local hospital on monday. Are the results available 48 hours from when you start or from when you finish? By the way I have tried this treat over and over and over again.
  3. Thanks for your response. I never thought about the GN license being removed even if you pass. So either way it will be removed.
  4. Hi Everyone, I took the NCLEX yesterday. I am going crazy waiting for the results. I have been reading many of the threads but can't find what I am looking for. Can you help. 1. If you fail the NCLEX how soon before your GN license is removed from the BNE website? 2. how long did you have to wait for quick results to show up? I had 75 questions, 13 SATA, no math, several medication questions. I am trying not to doubt myself but its really hard to stay positive. I am exhausted. I hope tomorrow comes quicly. I also tried the pearson vue trick. It does not let me go the CC page. Thanks for your help.
  5. My affidavit was mailed May 19th and I rec the ATT on May 21. I test on June 8th.
  6. Yes we take it after every course. Our school is starting a review session next week. I hope it helps.
  7. We have taken five so far. I have passed three, one I just failed. On April 20th we will be taking the Hesi exit exam. We have two chances to take it. We need an 850. I am very nervous about it. I wish it was already over.
  8. When do you take it again? Are you doing practice questions? I will take it in April. I am using the NCLEX 4000. I try and do about 100 questions a day and read the rationale. I don't always remember everything but maybe it will help jog something for the HESI.
  9. Thanks. I think if you do alot of questions you will be fine. We took the Hesi every 8 week class. It seems to me that many questions were what would you do first. Priority questions. One or two math problems. Many times 2 seem correct, pick the one that makes the most sense.
  10. I am also getting ready to take the Hesi exit in April. I would suggest you start doing practice questions. Have you purchased the Hesi book? I recently bought NCLEX 4000 software. I want to do at least 100 questions a day. I just need the discipline to do it. Do you take the hesi after every semester?
  11. Hey All, Lord willing I will be graduating in May, the 16th to be exact. Just curious if anyone else is nervous about the HESI exit exam. We will be taking ours in April. We need an 850 to pass. If we don't pass the first time we have to wait a month to take it a second time. We only have two chances. If we don't pass the first time that means no preceptorship and no graduation in May. How is everyone else dealing with this and how do you plan to study for the HESI? Also how have you done on end of semester HESI? I plan on using the NCLEX 4000 software as well as the HESI cd. Have done some questions during the break. Harder than I thought it would be. I have passed 3 out of the 5 Hesi's that we have already taken.
  12. Great Thread! I am so excited to graduate. I can't believe it, 18 weeks to go. It seems like forever. Hopefully this semester goes by quickly.:yeah:I hope you all do well.
  13. if you email me I can send you some copies of my careplans. Please PM for details of contact
  14. Thanks. For my clinical paperwork we have to list what symptoms this medication targets. I am having a hard time. I used depressive mood, falls and seizures but I am not sure that is correct. What do you think
  15. Can anyone give me some target symptoms for lamictal. Client has a history of seizures. A DX of dementia early onset with depression. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Here is what I have bought and spent so far military watch pen light rockers nursing shoes 4 sets of scrubs littman lightweight stethescope 4 patches lab coat measuring tape scissors For a total of 340.00 I will be getting my books through the pass program. I am relieved I don't have to pay for them. Although I will need to purchase the refrence books.
  17. Thank you so much. I will print this info out and keep it with me.
  18. I will be starting NS in August. I have been trying to read and become familiar with the material. I have been reviewing my pharmacology book and confused as to how to determine the different phases of the nursing process. For ex: Instruct client not to discontinue medication abruptly is included in which phase of the nursing process? Choices are assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation. What is the best way to learn these different processes? Thanks for your help
  19. I see. Well all I can tell you is that I love it here. I am originally from Chicago. I would never move back there. I have been here in the valley since 89. Have you looked up any websites that mention mission. You can also type in McAllen or the Rio Grande Valley. I think there is a website called realtor.com. You check out some of the houses in the area. My parents own a apartment complex. The two bedrooms rent for 525.00 that includes the cable and the water bill. They have had a lot of nurses live there. If there is anything else I can help you with just let me know.
  20. I am starting the ADN program in august. I took a and p 1 & 2 this year. I spent hours a day studying and about 10 hours a week in the lab. I would try anything to take the classes. Have you tried applying for financial aid? I just can't imagine choosing to test out of something so important as anatomy and physiology. Do you really remember all the tissues (can you identify tissues under a microscope, what type, where they are located in the body, and their purpose. Our test was over 100 slides that we had to identify under the microscope it was very difficult and stressful. I am not sure you could teach this to yourself) not to mention bones, parts of bones, and muscles. There is so much detail for example cells ( can you identify all the parts of the cell and their function, body systems ( diseases, how parts function and work together), joints, brain, CNS, blood vessels, blood, fluid, electrolytes, acid-base balance, nutrition these are just a few topics we covered in anatomy. There are websites with practice tests and quizzes. You could try some of them out and see how you do. Just remember the questions you have in class or on the test will probably be more detailed therefore harder. I would really encourage you to take the classes again. What happens if you fail the test? How much does it cost to take the test? Sorry if I sound discouraging but I also had to retake 3 classes because it had been too long. I have three children so I know how hard it can be. Once again I can not stress enough how important these classes are. I think retaking the classes will help you to be a successful student.
  21. I live in McAllen, right next to Mission. I am only a nursing student so I can not tell you much. I haven't heard anything bad about the hospital. There are many hospitals here to choose from. You would have no problems finding a job. This area is growing very quickly. You can find a nice home for about 125,000 - 150,000. The weather is great always sunny and warm. There is a hospital in McAllen that will give a sign on bonus of 50,000 for a four year contract and I believe pay for moving expenses and 25,000 for a 2 year contract. The name is McAllen Medical Center. We have many phillipino nurses here I believe they even have their own club. I hope this helps.
  22. You may want to check with your nursing department. They may not accept you testing out of the class. Some won't even allow taking it online. Sorry but I really doubt that they will approve it.
  23. I had the same book. Send me your email address to [email protected] i will attach what I have for quizzes.
  24. What book are you using. Maybe I could send you my quizzes?
