I don't think that the economy is the problem although I also don't think that nursing is a "recession proof job". There are other reasons that nursing could be slowing in some areas. Most of our elderly population(WW2 vets and so on) are diminishing which accounts for most hospital stays AND nursing home census, which are also slowing. While the boomer's are actually fairly young and most are still working and with less health issues than the past generation. Hang in there. I'm not a nurse, but I have been in your shoes. Being a tech will change you after a while but as long as you don't do it for too long you'll be OK.

I agree 100% w/ physicians when they don't want to accept graduates of programs such as the DNP with open arms. The only reason these programs even exist is because of the nursing masses and their supporters.

I am talking about the way some nurses think they are god's gift to health-care and are above every other profession.

Why is it always the Doctor, Pharmacist,nursing assistants, medical assistants and lab that are always wrong? Maybe some of you should get the hint.

Hi, just wondering if you work at a hospital? Alot of the time if you can get into a hospital position, the local college will give you first priority in their program. If you work at a hospital that does not do that, you might want to check others.

the reason the media isolates nurses in these situations is because the nurses job, is to do the oposite of what they have been acused of.

If you go around calling your aids, children or idiots, I can see how your lack of people skills might play a role in your problem. I'm an aid, hopefully not for too much longer, but for the moment i also have to deal with aids that dont carry their share of the workload and with nurses that dont have the leadership skills to nip probem's in the butt.
