Grand Canyon University online
I understand. It is a huge undertaking not only financially but also the time, stress, and work that you will need to put into it in order to be successful. This is not a decision to take lightly. Think about why you want this degree and what you plan on doing with it. If you feel that it will improve your life than go for it! but if you feel it will not make any changes for you than maybe you should think about a different option.

I hate what's happening to nursing...
I agree. Healthcare is quickly becoming all about the money. Patient care does not even rank in the top five!!

Calling in sick too late...feeling horrible about it.
Your health and your family always comes first. I respect how you feel, and understand your commitment to your job and your co-workers. But, remember you can not take care of your patients if you are not well. you did the right thing.

Confused on what LPN school to attend. Help.

Need help with sociological research report!
1. start with an introduction describing the respondents and their work. then trace their work life history. graduated nursing school in 1995. began working as a staff nurse on a medsurg floor. over the next fifteen years attained rn/bsn, promoted within the same facility to nurse manager, nurse educator and finally director of nursing. recently, left the facility to pursue an opportunity in education as a nursing instructor. 2. what job did they first start out with? staff nurse 3. did they change their career? change from bedside nursing to education. 4. what different jobs have they had? then discuss their current job. what do they do at work? currently, work on curriculum and lesson plans for nursing program. teach a&p, pharmacology and medical surgical nursing. 5. how do the work systems impede or help them accomplish their work goals? have not had a problem with improvement, promotions etc. 6. what are the difficulties they face at work? discuss their co-workers. while in the hospital the most challenging aspect of the job was keeping up with the state regulations, and continuing education for the staff. now, as an instructor it is the different levels of student abilities. co-workers= i was very lucky while working in the hospital to have been blessed with a very cohesive team. 7. how much cooperation do they get from co-workers? currently at the school i have a great deal of support from the other faculty. 8. how much of their work depends on their co-workers’ contribution? none 9. how much support they get from their supervisor? both in the hospital setting and now in the school my supervisors have been very supportive and knowledgeable. 10. how is their performance evaluated and how does it affect their work, and their future? hospital was an annual performance evaluation. in the school faculty is supervised three times a year by supervisors. 11. what factors motivate them? what de-motivates them? a love for learning. the desire to help others, both as a nurse and as a teacher. 12. what part of their job do they enjoy the most and the least? what could be done to make their work a more enjoyable experience? i have always loved nursing; it is incredibly rewarding and exhausting. the part of my job that i like the least is when you have to deal with someone who does not care. 13. what could their organization or supervisors do to help them? what stops the supervisors from helping them? 14. what are the turf issues? none. 15. what are their future plans? i am currently enrolled in an msn program and will graduate in march of 2011 16. will they change careers? no 17. when do they plan to retire? when i am tired. 18. what will they do after they retire? my husband and i have been talking about a farm. sounds like fun! 19. has your work life ever interfered with your family life? yes, when i was the don it would interfere with my home life plenty. you are on call 24 hours a day, and if the state decides to walk into your facility you have to be there. there were also issues with staffing etc. there were plenty of phone calls off hours. 20. at some point and time have you ever thought about quitting your job? if so why? no.
