  1. Took NCLEX RN on Wednesday, June 8 and had all 265 questions. Felt like I failed like we all do :) Did the PV trick, got the good pop-up, paid the money yesterday to get the quick results and passed :) Now just waiting for license # to be posted :)
  2. You will love Royal Oak! I would suggest looking on Craigslist and not going with a big apartment complex (Urbane, Amber, etc). You will get a much better price! Check out flats/duplexes too. If you have any specific questions, let me know...I have lived in RO for 5 years. This one looks very nice: http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/apa/2372013050.html Some more... http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/apa/2369797952.html http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/apa/2368308616.html http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/apa/2365603622.html http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/apa/2372042634.html Congrats on the internship!!
  3. We aren't allowed to have any drinks/food at the nurses station. Period. I personally think it is unprofessional to be chowing down in the vision of patients!
  4. I highly recommend taking pharm in the summer if you are doing the ADN program!
  5. Clinicals are usually 7a-3p or 2/3p-10/11p.
  6. St John Main is in Detroit on the border of Grosse Point. The parking for employees is very convenient and you don't have to shuttle in, which is nice. I personally love working there and wouldn't work anywhere else.

  8. I am a student who has to do a psycho-educational group on self-esteem on the psychiatric inpatient unit. Does anyone have any ideas? I would like it to be very interactive to keep the patients attention. Ideas: Ask everyone what they think self-esteem means and then elaborate on the definition Go around the room and ask everyone to state one personality trait that they like about him/herself (funny, friendly, etc) and something they are good at (cooking, running, cleaning the house) And then I draw a blank :)
  9. I am a first year student J You start out going to lecture 1 day per week and lab 2 days per week. I think we started the extended care clinical in October and then moved on to the acute care clinical in November. You also have to go to an APA lecture and a library orientation in September – each are just one 2 or 3 hour time slot. I would say the biggest things I have neglected are tidying up the house and cooking dinner…we have take out/go out to eat WAY too often these days…but I just don’t have time! In addition to school, I work 20 hours a week. The most important thing is keeping on top of due dates and studying – if you do that you will be fine! If you have any more specific questions, let me know, I am happy to help!
  10. If you were close to the GPA cut-off and didn't get in, don't count yourself out yet! Some people will decline for another program or because of personal reasons... Congrats to everyone who got in :) I am a first year student and I love the program!
  11. Sage green pants, sage green jacket (w/ patch), white top (with patch), and white shoes
  12. a net test is not required to be admitted, but you do have to take it after you are admitted. acceptance is based strictly on pre-req gpa. the gpa cut-off was around 3.5 - 3.6 for the class admitted to start fall 09. there is no wait list at occ - if you don't get in, you have to reapply the next year. hope this helps!
  13. If I were you, I would try and live in the Royal Oak area...you are close to all of the highways that way and not too far from UofD.
  14. They won't be upset. The program just looks at your grades and if your GPA ranks high enough, you will be accepted. As you can handle it and maintain a GPA above around 3.6, you should get in...
  15. ^Nothing on Tuesday's or Wednesday's, I think.
  16. Haha, it will just make me feel better about life is the basement gets cleaned and organized before I start school :) I don't start until Sept 3!
  17. I will be a few months shy of 29 years old when I graduate.
  18. -Buy clinical uniform -Buy school supplies -Do first and second week assignments -Clean the basement
  19. R = Thursday We have Activity Lab the first 9 weeks (except when we have clinical orientation and clinical). Weeks 10-16 we have Skills Lab. And, I am in section 1512 :)
  20. I bought the required books and the Saunders NCLEX-RN Review book. I figure that if other students find the other optional books helpful, I can buy them later on :) And, I highly suggest buying your books from amazon.com or half.com. I saved a lot of money and I purchased mostly new.
  21. Yay!!! Thanks for the post! So for the first 3 weeks we have 3 hours on Monday and then 6 hours total Tue/Wed or 6 hours total on Thur/Fri right? I can't wait until I get my mail after work! What time is orientation on Sept 3?
  22. I am in one of the 2pm-5pm sections too! I am trying to be very patient waiting for my lab times... :)
  23. I am wondering the same thing. When I went to a make-up orientation session, someone said we would get them at the end of July, but I don't think that is going to happen!
  24. Did anyone on the board go to the OCC Nursing Orientation on Thur, June 11? I had to miss it because of a scheduling conflict, but I am going to a make-up session tomorrow (which I am happy that they are providing!). What went on at orientation? Any good information?
