  1. Nothing has persuaded me yet that I should not be going for this goal of becoming a nurse. However, I am so motivated by what I have read in this thread that I am ready to start tomorrow. I do start on Aug 20, (almost tomorrow)and I really feel this is the right thing for me at this time. Did I mention that I am 57.....I was a 50 plus EMT and worked with much younger EMTs and treated just like anyone else. Age is just a mind set. It comes down to commitment, discipline and the idea that this is what you REALLY want to do. All the best and don't let anyone hit you with any negative vibs....just get ready for school....
  2. I start nursing school on Aug 20. During the whole process I have been treated very well by the school administrators, and my future classmates. Oh, I am 57 and male...I can't wait until school starts. The situation becomes, how important is this to you. Age has nothing to do with it....
  3. I don't have any first hand knowledge about NU expect that it is very expensive. Have you looked into Grossmont College or San Diego State? All the best.
  4. This condition is common after road running races. In a number marathons across the country, deaths have occured as a result.
  5. As I recall, Scripps Mercy in San Diego was listed as one of the top 100 hospitals in the US...and Scripps La Jolla, is a Magnate Hospital...
  6. All you are the greatest....I am 57 and starting nursing school in Aug...after having been an EMT for 5 yrs..."Age only matters if you are cheese"
  7. I start nursing school in Aug, this was such a good thread, and all the responses will give me something to think about down the road...thanks all...
  8. Just got my letter of acceptance to Crouse in Syracuse, NY!!! Congrats to everyone else!!!!
  9. I have to let eveyone know, I responded to this thread saying how old I would be if I went to school...well today I got my acceptance letter for the fall class, now I can offically say I will be 57 when I start. This is just too much!!!!!
  10. First, Suesquatch...I just loved your reply...anyway...I just want to say..I am waiting for word on my application to nursing school in the fall..age now 56, age when starting (if accepted) 57, age when graduating, 59...just as long as I am still alive...
  11. My application is in for a fall class....if accepted I will be 57 when I start..
  12. Try Crouse Irving Hospital School of Nursing, Syracuse, NY. They are accepting applications for the fall...and I don't believe they have a waiting list. Keep looking.
  13. I applied to Crouse Irving Hospital School of nursing two year RN program. Should hear something in the middle of Feb. or early March.
  14. I just want to mention...I am 56..have an application already in to a 2 yr nurisng program. I will admit that I have considered my age...it does not last long..it is really what I want to do..did I mention that I am a male...Just go tackle it..if you have the desire...
  15. I can say that I have been constantly pulled. Have had an interest in nursing for some time. Like you, put it off, worked in another field..started to get pulled again, worked in another field. Guess what, the pull has gotten too great. I am 56 and male....and have applied to nursing school. Now waiting to see if I have been accepted. Go for it!!!!
