  1. that is silly- you have worked hard to get your RN degree and you deserve to be known by that title- I have never hear of CNR, I think this would be confusing for patients and other health care professionals.
  2. we use the term - PIH -meaning pregnancy induced hypertension
  3. I am confused, I have never heard of LVN's supervisors over RN's- I am an LVN and I just would not feel comfortable telling an RN how to do their job- I have been to RN school ( did not finish one course) ( stupid on my part) but I do know what they have to go though to get that title-it is not easy. In my current job I am the supervisor over the CMA's and I am embassed to even have that title on my badge- maybe I am old school- to me a supervisor is a RN.
  4. hey Kitty, I have to agree about the lateness of co-workers. When I worked 3-11, the night was never on time and when they showed up, they had to go into the kitchen to make coffee and get a snack before counting drugs. This used to drive me crazy- ok being late every once in a while ( I understand) but get your butt in there and let the people who have been off their feet for the past 8-12 hours go home. It is called respect for the profession and your co0workers.
  5. working for an insurance company might be the thing- but I am sure that even there you have someone that has to be an wise cracker. Hold your head up- doctors as much as they like to think really could not run an hospital, office, clinic or anything else without nurses. We are the ones that keep things going( so what if they get all the credit?)
  6. Pat yourself for being a good nurse-so many of us do not take the time to go over mediation and their side effects-this may in the long run leave us liable. Your patient was on the winnning end- simply because you took the time to explain what can be very confusing drug information.I find that when I give this kind of informaton to patients- I learn something also. I make sure I look up the medication and possible side-effects so at lease I appear knowledgeable in front of the patient. I bet you make that patient feel special that day- just because you took a little extra time. Tell your co-worker she can get an donut on the way home.
  7. I have heard that passing an kidney stone is compared to having a 10# baby without an epidural- I would say that would be an emergency-

hi, check with your place of employment- sometimes -hosptials, doctor offices, etc, will pay for their employees insurance. My employer pays for mine through the same company they provides his insurance- If any of us gets sued, usually they will also go for the biggest dog in the house- meaning the physican/ or hospital. If your place of employment does not offer insurance - go through NSO- you can find their information any nursing jounal or the number that I got from Nursing 2006 is 1-800-247-1500. Good Luck
  9. here in Texas with 31 years of expierence - I am only making $20.00 an hour- I do not think that LVN/LPN ever get paid for the type of work that we do- if you are getting over $18.00 just starting out- that is pretty good.
  10. keep trying- I have been an LVN for 31 years- there is still good jobs out there for us. I remember when I was in school- they kept saying they was going to discontiue hiring LVN/LPN but everytime I look at the paper - I see several postings. I agree that some hospitals are not hiring LVN's but home health agencies and doctor's offices are- keeping trying and good luck

Hi everyone My first time to post- I have been an LVN for 31 years, working now for ON_GYN office for 24 years, prior to that an hospital nurse for 6 years. I am curious as to who LVN/LPN are making across the country with the years of expierence that I have-not only do I do the triage, I am also the "nursing supervisor" over the medical assistants . My job includes just about everything including posting surgeries and dealing with insurance companies. I am currently making $20.00 an hour- I was hoping someone would say that is on the low end of the pay scale. Would be happy to hear any feedback thanks
