THERE IS A GENERAL CONSENSUS BETWEEN LTC NURSES AND EMTS. I WORK LTC PRN AND SOME OF THE EMTS ARE TOTAL A*****, BUT SOME ARE GREAT . THERE IS ONE IN PARTICULAR THAT COMES IN AND TRIES TO TALK MY ELDERLY PTS INTO REFUSING TO GO TO THE ED. WE HAVE CLASHED SEVERAL TIMES. MY MAIN NURSING IS IN THE ICU , SO I FEEL AS EDUCATED IF NOT MORE SO THAN HE.

:rotfl: Nipride increases the creatinine clearance, so wouldnt the nipride and opaque dye used in the MRI impair the renal function? Also nipride can increase intracranial pressure. Just a thought, dont know the pts dx.

Got one better. I work in ICU and we have frequent flyers all the time. Sunday night I had a OD come in at 8:30pm, she was demanding a central line for narcotics. I told her she could have a Lortab; she rolled her eyes and said they didnt work. She said I have had at least 10 central lines before. Then she said, how am I gonna get fluids? I said drink them, maybe??? She said I want to leave AMA. Had the papers ready in 5 minutes.

Can you document "No facial grimacing"? I wont wake them up for pain medication either. If they do wake up in pain after my assess, I just reasesss and medicate.

Once you perform your first code it will get easier, and youj will think faster on youjr feet with every code. plus at my facility we all pitch in.

I have currently started taking Xenical and Adipex. The xenical will certainly make you watch what you eat and the Adipex will make you not want to eat. In 2 weeks i have lost 8 lbs, so thats pretty good.

I understand in Texas the pay is higher . Here in NC the range is 13.00-15.00/hr.

I have worked at a LTC facility for 5 yrs and it can be stressful, but it isnt as fast paced as my experience was in the hospital. Just depends on what you like to do. I want to go to the ED myself, i like fast paced.

Cardiology, ABG's and electrolytes but theres a medical mneumonic site that really helps.

I have a Littman master cardiology and a master cardiology 3 and they are the best!!!
