  1. Private message me and I will provide you information about this.
  2. Thank you so much for the prompt response. I will be interviewing with the Hixson, TN location. I am glad to hear you have had a positive experience so far!
  3. I am wondering the same thing. Did you find anything out?
  4. Can any of you share is this progarm online or in person?
  5. When was your application deadline and when did you find out you were admitted? My husband has applied for fall programs and I was thinking we wouldn't hear until June?
  6. My husband and I are both nurses interested in getting our NP degree. He just applied to FNP programs at: UNCC, GSU (good to see someone liked the program!), U of Tampa, UNCW, UT at Chattanooga, USouth Carolina, UAHuntsville, and Winston Salem State University. Anyone familiar with any of these programs beside GSU? He has a low GPA from his first Bachelor degree but a 3.98 in BSN with 5 going on 6 years of nursing experience. I can't find any information regarding when we should expect to hear if he is admitted. We will be moving across the country if he gets in and already have found a buyer for our house so our fingers are crossed!
  7. My husband has applied to several schools for summer/fall 2012 FNP. He had a very low cumulative GPA and near 4.0 for his last Bachelors which was in nursing. Did you apply previous years as well?
  8. I will be applying for NP school soon. If the requirements state resume should I should stick with this for applications or would they be alright accepting a CV? Thank you.
  9. Thank you for the response. I hope future students have more resources available! I also just chose an area and am going from there. I still have like 13 schools on my list now so I think I will just randomly pick some from it since I live about 16-20 hrs from the programs, and still don't know much about them, other than from websites and e-mailing the schools.
  10. I am not an NP but I read your post. I am pretty sure the DNP is just a recommendation for schools to switch to but not mandatory. I did a lot of research on this as my husband and I are both interested in obtaining ARNP.
  11. I have been searching graduate schools that offer family nurse practitioner programs for nearly a year now. I am applying for fall 2012 admission and have a list of around twenty choices remaining mainly in the south. Throughout this process I have found that reviews of programs from students are very rare and virtually non-existant. If anyone is willing to offer any insight into how they feel about their program it would be MUCH appreciated. I would also be interested to learn of acceptance statistics. I know this will vary greatly by school but am nervous as to aspects of being accepted and what the appropriate number of applications should be to increase chances of acceptance. It seems that most schools get far more applicants than they can accomodate. Some basic info about me: will have a cum GPA of only around 2.97 (a lot of hours) with a 3.98 in BSN program. Six years inpatient experience, med-surg and ICU. 4.5 on analytical GRE section, 166 verbal, 156 quantitative . Thank you for any help! Schools on my list include UAB, UT in FL, Auburn, UA Huntsville, GA State College, Emory, GA Southern U, Jacksonville U FL, UMMC Jackson, MS, UNCCharolotte, UNC Wilmington, Praire View A&M TX, USC, U of South FL, Southeastern LA, U of TN, U of Souther MS, Southern U, Uof TX, Troy, WCU, Winston-Salem U,
  12. Is anyone who got admitted willing to share thier stats? I am nervous after reading the 4.0 that got rejected.
  13. Dana forgive me but can you tell me what hcsm stands for? I am also interested in attending this school. I will have my BSN and want to get my FNP but see that they only offer the DNP program now.
  14. missdoodaw, are you happy with the FNP program at Uof Miami? I take it you have to find your own preceptors?
  15. I disagree that moving to a smaller/private hospital and or staying longer will help. I spent 4 years on an acute organ transplant and trauma surgery floor and it never got better. I switched last summer to adult psychiatry, a floor with 8 beds reserved for eating disorder patients. It is MUCH easier and slower paced. I never thought I would like this sort of unit but I can't believe I get paid the same!

I also, have a question. I live in Iowa and took a travel nursing job in Seattle, WA for four months. I took advantage of the tax advantage program offered by my company. When preparing my taxes it doesn't look like any Iowa state tax was witheld on my paychecks so it comes out that I owe quite a bit of money. Does anyone know anything about how this works??
  17. Actually, I was hoping to get my next assignment back in Iowa. I am in Washington now and I love my company but they don't have many openings there. Would you mind private messaging me your company and recruiter I would definately give them your name for any bonus if I found a position with them.
  18. I am from Iowa. Dubuque originally then Iowa City. I just started doing the travel thing. Although I have not actually worked there ever I have heard good things. I read a post on a different site (can't remember which one) that a lady raved about her experience there and said she would definately consider going again, just left cause it was getting cold. Hopefully that helps.

I think this has the potential to be a great thread. I wish more people would respond. I have just accepted my first assignment as a travel nurse so as soon as I can add to it I will!
  24. I ended up accepting a position at Highline Medical Center. It is a 13 week travel assignment. I am nervous as this is my first travel assignment and I will be coming from the University of Iowa which is 870 beds compared to this small hospital. I have gained great experience on a surgical floor including organ transplant. The position I took it for a medical floor. Any further information anyone might have regarding working at this hospital would be greatly appreciated!
