  1. Thanks for this post. I find myself in the same position, toxic environment all the way. As I was reading through all of the posts, so many of the responses hit home. I feel so much better, knowing that I am not alone. At this time, I am just waiting it out for a better position. Good luck to all of you pursuing a new opportunity!
  2. Are there any other hospitals you could consider applying to in your area? Don't get discouraged. Change is difficult. The perfect position for you may be an application away.
  3. I was offered a position, where I did my practicum for the last semester of Nursing School. The offer was extended about a month before I took my NCLEX.
  4. I always have an RN waste narcotics with me, since the pyxis requires the other RN's password to complete the process.

Congratulations on passing the NCLEX. Don't give up, keep putting your application in anywhere you are interested in applying. Eventually, you will start getting some responses.
  6. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Don't be discouraged. I found a lot of support through the NCLEX forum here. Wishing you the best of luck.
  8. I'll chalk it up to having a bad day, since I usually never get upset. As a previous poster stated, most of the questions would have been answered had I been allowed the opportunity to finish.
  9. After two miserable days in a unit I normally don't work on, I am attempting to give report. In the middle of my report, the newly hired RN starts asking questions. I snapped back, requesting to finish my report before answering questions. The nurse replied to me that she understood and believes everyone does report differently. I just grumbled, finished report, and left it at that. In my past experience, one listened to report until prompted for comments or questions.
  10. At the hospital I work at, they have the weekend option available, so we don't have to work weekends normally. I do see some institutions still have the requirement to work every other weekend.

    Congratulations regarding your new job!
  12. I will pray for you! So sorry to hear this happened. Glad to took action immediately! Good luckand stay strong.
  13. I would report this HIPAA violation immediately to the appropriate authority. We do competencies every year, and knowing the HIPAA rules is a must! Clearly, in the rules, it states you cannot be accessing patient files(relative, neighbor, coworker) that you are not treating! I am sorry to read about the situation you have encountered. Curiosity killed the cat, and it should terminate the nosy co-workers.
  14. You werent in the wrong, but I would have let the RN know about the order and handle the situation from there.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad news. This may be a blessing in disguise. What would happen if you had started working there, then all of sudden they told you they are overstaffed and cannot use additional help? That doctors office sounds pretty shady to me. Keep looking for that job of your dreams. In the meanwhile, you could work Agency or work PRN in the hospital until something came along that sparked your interest.
