  1. Their pay is based on years of experience. Are you a new grad? The interview questions are the normal "why do you want to work L&D", "what are your strengths and weakness'" etc. Let me know how it goes!
  2. Interview went great, I start in July. The manager is very nice. Good luck!
  3. I finally have an interview for a L&D position after 3 years of med surg and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience at St Agnes and or if you know their pay scale for experienced nurses?
  4. I worked on a TCU for six months after graduation and started applying for jobs in hospitals. I made sure my resume had all the skills I used on the TCU, assessment, dressing changes, Charge Nurse, TPN, IV's, Tube feeding, etc. I landed a job on the med/surg ortho floor at a local community hospital and I love it. I actually miss the TCU too so I pick up PRN hours there as well. Good luck and work on that resume!
  5. Yes, Genesis has a $2 differential for evening/nights.
  6. I look forward to hearing comments on this. I work at a Transitional Care Unit/LTC with up to 30 patients and I had an interview today for a Med/Surg Ortho unit. The manager said up to 6 patients and that sounded like heaven but I understand they are more acute which is actually what I'm looking forward to.
  7. The two interviews that I have had I received call backs pretty quick (within a week) for the interviews. I also received dozens of rejection emails too though. You just have to keep applying and try to follow up with nurse recruiters at the hospitals.
  8. I was just hired in a LTC/Subacute facility for $25/hr 7-3:30 and $27 3:00-11:30 and I'm in Maryland.
  9. Thank you so much for the info. I'm getting really excited, I do a shadow day next week to get familiar with the facility and then I start orientation 9/7. So thankful I found a job!
  10. This is very encouraging! I start in the subacute unit of a LTC facility but I'm fortunate to get 8 weeks orientation and then 2 weeks on the floor with my mentor so I'm definately eased into everything. It's not the ED job that I wanted but I'll get there eventually.
  11. I was accepted into the September New Grad Residency and I'm excited and nervous! How is training go for you now? Are you in LTC or a skilled facility?
  12. I just graduated in May but I feel your frustration. I had an interview last week only to be told other applicants with experience were being considered. I have another interview next week for LTC, not my first choice by any means but we'll see how it goes. Good luck, I feel your pain.
  13. I just graduated from a 2 year Evening/Weekend program. The classes were from 6-9 M,T,Th with Sat and Sun clinicals the first year and T,W,Th 6-9 with Sat & Sun clinicals the second year. I worked full time too and it was tough but I made it through. :)
  14. I took my NCLEX on Saturday and everything says completed except "Discipline" says "Pending". I'm not going to stress about it because I know I haven't done anything to require "Discipline". They probably update everything in stages I would give a few days and if it doesn't change give them a call.
  15. Oh, I know it's suppose to be 48 hours but she was just letting me know that sometimes they are available earlier.
  16. I took the test today and it cut off at 147 questions. I came straight home and tried the trick and I got the good pop up! The woman at the testing center said the quick results are usually available in 12-24 hours so hopefully by this time tomorrow I'll know for sure. :)
  17. I feel your pain, I've only had one call back from a nursing home and I'm really not interested in signing an 18 month contract in LTC. I've talked to all the nurse recruiters and they don't have anything for new grads right now. Some of them even said they couldn't hire the nurse externs they had. It will turn around eventually.
  18. Union Memorial is hiring in the Cardiac Evaluation Unit for night shift and they specifically say new grads are welcome. I'm doing an extern on that unit this summer. Good luck.
  19. Congratulations!!!! I'm in the CCBC Essex Evening/Weekend RN program and I love it so far. I'm finishing up my first year next month. Good luck!!!
  20. I work full time, have a husband and 4 children between us and have maintained an "A" average through my first year. I have vacation days saved since in our last year a few of the clinicals end up during the week. I have a study schedule I stick to, I study every where I can and I still spend time with my family. It's not impossible. Good luck no matter what you decide. :)
  21. Is this residency only for 4 year college students? Where can I find information? Thanks
  22. I know how you feel. I work 40 hours a week as a Senior Associate with a company I've been with for 9 years and I don't usually have time to study at work. I also have 4 children between my husband and I. I have school Mon, Tues and Thurs evenings. I have to pick up patient info immediately after work on Friday and I have clinicals on Sat and Sun. I feel like I work 7 days a week but this semester is almost over and I've managed to keep A's and B's on all my exams and quizzes and pass skills testing. It's hard as hell but I keep thinking I'm almost done this semester and it will all be worth it.:wink2:
  23. Fundamentals Success is a great book. A few of our exam questions came from that book. I got an A on our first exam by using the Fundamentals Success book, the modules in Potter & Perry and the NCLEX questions after each chapter. When I practiced NCLEX questions I made sure to read all the rationales too.
  24. My first clinical is Saturday in a LTC facility. I'm excited and nervous.
