  1. Thank you for the clarification. I was quite confused actually.
  2. This is one of my biggest concerns about this situation. Some women need or want abortions for health reasons, not just because they don't want to have a child. More women may turn to sketchy people to get abortions out of desperation, if they feel they have no other options.
  3. He holds the almighty raspberry sherbert of legend. He has agreed to share the location in exchange for transport, so be on the lookout for patients in disguise.
  4. Normally staff strip the rooms after patients discharge. But this patient was kind enough to do it themselves before they leave.
  5. Last year, my mother needed to have some procedure done that required IV insertion. The doctor, nurse, or whoever tried to stick her 6 TIMES without success. My mother was in so much pain that she was in tears, and the person was STILL trying to stick her. They didn't stop until she demanded them to do so. I felt so bad for her. I was in nursing school at the time, and when she told me what happened, I wondered why the person didn't stop sooner if they could see she was in that much distress. The procedure had to be rescheduled, and luckily the person my mother got that time was able to get the IV cath in on the first try.
  6. I have to agree with this. I'm more introverted and have been viewed as odd more times than I can count. Even by some of my own family members.
  7. No problem. Glad I could help!
  8. Sit down and take some deep breaths. It's okay to feel nervous. Just because you know you can do something, it doesn't mean it's not going to be a challenge, and it can seem a bit scary. I just started my final semester of RN school last week. Granted I don't feel as nervous about this class/clinical as I did about my last class, but I still am quite a bit nervous, especially for clinical. I'm doing med-surg 3 now, and it's been a year since I last did a med-surg clinical (1). My last two clinicals (med-surg 2 and OB/peds) were virtual. The last normal clinical I did was mental health, and that definitely didn't involve the same things as med-surg. I know I can get through it. Heck, I made it this far. But like I said, I'm still nervous. Just take things one week, one day, one assignment at a time. Your mind can read get bogged down when you're thinking about too much at a time. Hope this helped at least a little!
  9. I realize this is almost 2 months old, but I will answer anyway... It depends on the school. For my ADN program, the actual prerequisites take just one semester to complete. However, there are other required non-nursing classes that you can take either before you start the program or while you're in it. The ADN program takes 4 semesters. The previous school I went to had a BSN program (tried, didn't make it in, changed majors, got different degree). You spend 1 year on prerequisites, and the actual program is 3 years long. But, similar to the ADN program at my current school, those 3 years include other required non-nursing classes. I've heard these more often than what I said though.
  10. oh I see. I was wondering how the instructors supervise preceptorships. thanks!
  11. I have a question for you, if you don't mind. Do you know what the preceptorship generally would have been like had you been able to do one? I've heard about preceptorships, but we ASN students don't do those. Just curious.
  12. With my school, students at some of the campuses/sites went back to doing clinicals at hospitals and LTC facilities this Summer. My campus wasn't one of them; we're still doing virtual clinicals right now. My campus will resume normal clinicals in the fall, which will be my final semester. I'm glad because I was hoping to have normal clinical for the last med-surg.
  13. I'm in Indiana. With my school, students at some of the campuses were able to go back into the hospitals this Summer. My campus isn't one of them. We should be able to have in-person lectures again in the fall. Hopefully the rest of us will be able to go back to the hospitals at that point as well.
  14. I was told at the first part of orientation that they should be giving us our schedules sometime in the middle of next month.
  15. I'm somewhat surprised they didn't go ahead and include the supply list.
  16. Yes. I got mine 2 days ago. I'm at Lawrence.
  17. 4, not including the prerequisites.
  18. I don't believe so, but I would check with your specific campus. Some of the campuses do run, or at least start, one or some of their nursing programs in the summer. I'm not sure about graduating in the summer though.
  19. First semester isn't quite the same. The LPNs and RNs do take fundamentals and lab together. But that's where the similarities end.
  20. I'm not sure whether it will be next week or the week after when they send out the orientation emails. I'm eager to hear about it too.
  21. Oops sorry I lied. It was around 9.
  22. I didn't get my email until 10 something. Guess it just depends.
