  1. Hi there! I am hoping you are still active on this forum! I was wondering how your DNP at UNCW is going? I just got accepted and was hoping to get some insight into the program... Thank you!
  2. Not right now, but in the not too distant future, yes I think so. Humanoid technology has not advanced very rapidly for a few reasons but there is now serious money being thrown into that, and human labor will become a thing of the past, I am quite sure of it. We may still need nurses (fewer) to oversee the humanoid robots and still offer a human touch. That is how I see this going. Interesting times for sure..
  3. In NC where I live, about an hour away from Charlotte, new grad pay is $28 an hour..
  4. How many patients does a nurse typically care for on your Level 2 units? We have many NAS babies and sometimes I feel so overwhelmed and incapable of caring for all of them adequately… ? Thank you!
  5. Are you saying her being a nurse has caused you to grow apart? Or is it her newfound sense of financial independence? Can your relationship not be salvaged?
  6. Hi!! Am disappointed there have been no replies to your post yet! Am also looking at Greenville and Prisma Health! I went to visit Greenville recently and liked it! Good luck with the rest of your schooling! (I graduated from an accelerated program in May at the age of 38). Maybe we will meet in Greenville one day!
  7. I, too, never received any progress reports or a plan of some sort on orientation, (like you, I have a few weeks left before being on my own). When I addressed this with the educator I was told there was no time for that... I am very disappointed as I feel unprepared for being on my own, and they are short-staffed and are having to frequently take care of more patients than they should... I am really apprehensive as I know if I have to look after 7 patients, many of them being High acuity, things will be missed... ?

Thank you for sharing your experience. Did you sign any documents at the beginning of your residency? We had to sign one that said we would "Commit to 12 months employment on your HIRED UNIT as a FULL TIME employee with xxx" - is there anything they can do if I were to resign due to these extenuating circumstances?
  9. I found this while searching for topics on new grad night shift difficulties... this is me right now except I am 38!! I was wondering where you are now in your career and how long you lasted on night shift!
  10. Can I ask what you specialized in?

Hi everyone! I am a second-career newly graduated RN and have been busy with orientation for a month on a tele floor. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, my husband has found himself without a job and as such we may have to move to another state... I know it is frowned upon to leave a residency and I am so scared if the repercussions. Do you think that I may be deemed unhirable? I am devastated and wish things were not this way....
  12. Hello! I am a new grad (second career RN at the age of 38). I shadowed recently at a cath lab and was completely mesmerized by it and decided that is where I want to end up. I have just started on a CSU and was wondering what tips there may be to assist me in realizing my ultimate goal! (Courses or certifications that may be helpful when/if the opportunity ever arises?) Thank you!
  13. In Knoxville new grad nurse BSN pay is $19.00. ? Obviously there is an oversupply of nurses, that is all I can make of it...
  14. So you click submit until you cannot anymore or immediately after the credit card page it should have the pop up? If so that means I failed... ?
  15. Did you have to click submit after entering credit card details and then submit again after the next screen?
  16. I can’t answer any of your questions as I am also a new graduate waiting for the ATT! I really thought we would have had it by now.. ?
  17. Could you tell us how you tackled the degree financially?
  18. Hello everyone! I have been following posts on this forum for a while now and was hoping I could get some opinions on my situation, as I do not really have any RN mentors I can ask. I am about to graduate from an accelerated program in May (hopefully! With the COVID-19 situation many things have been put on hold so I am wondering how this will affect our completion date). Anyway, I have been interviewing in the meanwhile and have received a job offer on a Cardiothoracic specialty floor - mainly looking after post cath and pacemaker patients. Do you think this is a good first job for a new grad? I am mature (38 y/o) and was previously a veterinary technician, and have a great interest in cardiology, if that has any bearing on your opinion! Thank you so much for the help!
  19. Thanks! I enjoy learning about all the different avenues of nursing!
  20. What procedures do you do? ☺️
  21. Are you living in Dallas? I have also not heard anything and was thinking it was maybe due to me being out of state at the moment...
