what is the best way to get hired in a hospital? say, you don't have placement there or experience. it's been really challenging to find a job and some tips would be great. thanks.

It's just a little odd, because I am taking over from a fellow co-worker and they claim they never experienced these symptoms before after the injection, and this happened with 2 patients..so I am FREAKING outtttttttttttttttt, I am thinking it's most definitely my technique....not sure what else to do ?

Hello, No matter what I do, I seem to hit a bone with I'm injections. I obviously palpate and hold the skin taut before I inject. Also, I aim to above the butt crack , make a "window" and choose the left/right outer upper half. I dont know what else I can do to improve this skill...all my patients keep complaining of "pain at the site, unable to walk, feeling dizzy..." this is a nightmare. I keep thinking I hit the sciatic nerve, too, which is another constant concern of mine. IDK what else I can do to be better?

@TheSquire thank you so much for the uplifting message, this gives me so much hope! i think you're absolutely right, a new student has to work absolutely hard but if a unit is sinking/shows a horrible attitude, that student will most likely sink. but thank you for giving me the hope of trying. ❤️

@RNFANP thank you so much for his honest, encouraging response. I dont have a lot of skills either, only injections, phlebotomy and IVs thus far. still struggling with complex wound care, catheterizations (never had the chance) and the list goes on (nursing school kinda sucks). but this gave me a glimmer of hope! thanks dude, you're an inspiration ?

@RNFANP you're telling me ER was better for than you med-surg? isn't ER harder? but congrats to you on your experience!

hi nurses! these questions have been going over in my mind and i've searched for answers everywhere but with fail! answering some of these questions would cure my curiosity, ladies and gents! 1) why does the primary line back up into the secondary bag if it's hung lower? i've seen that happen a few times 2) why does the primary line compete with the secondary line towards the end? i have to clamp the primary line to let the secondary line run through, but just curious? 3) when it's the last 5 mls-7mls or so of medication, i prevent them from entering the port at the primary line to prevent bubbles, clamp, run the primary line. is this advisable? does anyone else do this? 4) i've been struggling with this one. how much flush do you guys to know to give from the primary line towards the end of the infusion? do you determine this based on how much drug is left in the secondary line or just follow protocol and give the usual 25-30ml of NS?

@DextersDisciple The fact that you even got ICU...very coveted position too my dude! good for you! But yeah it's the same old story, the hospital setting is toxic, I've heard it over and over

@DextersDisciple Oh interesting! Were you on a medicine floor before? And what do you like about outpatient that's better than your previous job setting? Yeah I wanna feel like a 'real' nurse, I'm kinda tired of seeing everyone brag/complain about they've had these experiences, but at least they actually experienced it. LOL

@nursy haha it would only be for increasing my skillset and being confident as a nurse, but i know the darkness behind a hospital setting haha.

@nursy I've never had the opportunity to get into a hospital! So I've had a string of less intense nursing jobs, I suppose. Not sure if it's because of my resume or? I've just never been given the opportunity despite numerous applications

Hi there, I've had a series of jobs (telemedicine, clinic nurse, infusion nurse), but never a job in a hospital. What would be a good/recommendable start for me in the world of the hospital? I want to become a skilled nurse, immersed in tasks like catheterizations, wound care, all of that good stuff but don't know what would be a good kick for it. Any recommendations would help greatly.
