This is a doozy! Some questions I have... Why would you attend a nursing program so far away and is there one closer? Have you checked to see if this school is accredited? Were you physically attending this college and had covid symptoms so you had to miss classes, and they kicked you out for attendance? Because even with covid symptoms, online can be done to an extent. Did you test positive for covid? I would make sure you are double-checking for accreditation on any nursing program. A lot of the time nursing students want to bring up the handbook to try and show the school is at fault, however, the handbooks I've read regarding a few nursing programs state, "handbook is subject to change at the discretion of instructors and or director.?" It sounds like you might've dodged a bullet though, and do not give up on your goal to become a nurse!

Did you find out if you passed? I did mine several times and I kept getting the good pop up. I am not sure if the PVT is legitimate but it seems like it is for the good pop up. There are those who have received the bad pop up and still passed.

I'm guessing you're in Illinois, as continental seems to only be discussed for Illinois nursing students but I could be wrong. Most states, regulation of nursing is their "NRB" but Illinois it's actually continental testing services that approves everything and sends the 'OK' to the illinois department of professional regulation, which they send the 'OK' to pearsonVUE to send the ATT's. Which is crazy to me but whatever. I know with a conviction such as a DUI you have steps to go through and I am hoping you came out of it all good. People make mistakes. I am sure more people have drove under the influence than they would like to admit but you just got caught.

I had to do an appeal and won mine but that was a few years ago. I ended up transferring after the DON was asked to resign later that year. I went back and forth on thinking I was wrong and that it would come back to me and the other students that won the appeal, and that we would be targeted. We weren't targeted but blaming the teachers isn't wise. When you write an appeal it should NEVER be about what the instructors are doing wrong but what hardships you had individually, and what your plans will be to improve in the future. Last semester I took psych, maternal newborn, algebra, composition 2, logic and critical thinking, then a 3 week statistics after the algebra. One morning on the way to my psych clinical I got a call at 5 am that my dad was being flown to a hospital from another hospital due to a ruptured triple A. He had a 9.7 x 7.9 aneurysm and made it 18 days in the hospital. We took him home and he passed the day after my birthday. All while attending school. I also was going through health issues, nothing severe but enough to complicate everything further. I ended up having a lupus flare and I am on strong pain medications which are hard to get because so many people have abused them. All this happened while I was taking psych which I passed and transitioning to maternal health. Maternal health was the hardest by far---I passed every one of my classes going through all of it and I don't know how. So what I am saying is it's probably not all the instructors to blame. Even if so many students failed there will still be some that has passed and that is what is looked at. Even if there are 30 students and half fail it doesn't matter. The best thing to do is to look within and realize that things won't just be handed to you. Nursing school is rough and if you really want it you will be able to do it!

Humans make mistakes and just because we are nursing students, it doesn't make us perfect. Tardiness happens, although coming to class drunk and smoking in a hospital is ridiculous, I hope they learned their lessons. I just don't get how someone can think they can smoke in a hospital. ?!? It's like they didn't have a brain that day.

Just for clarification "take home quizzes" or homework, and you use a book or the internet isn't cheating. Teachers aren't dumb they know students will look up the answers...it's up to the student to comprehend the material and if by chance they graduate and pass the NCLEX then good for them. I don't pay attention to enough people while I'm in class to know if they cheat or not and nor do I really care if they do, they're the ones risking getting into trouble. I have a small class size and they're actually all great. If I saw one of them cheating I wouldn't report it I'd probably just say something to them just to let them know I saw them, I'm not about ruining anyone's life. All of our tests are on the computer and if you click out or open another browser the test shuts off and you're screwed, also we can't wear our smart watches so our class couldn't cheat unless they wrote answers somewhere a teacher couldn't see. Your teacher might not really care or they might be doing something in secret. It seems people care more about people getting into trouble than doing what is right though. Human nature.

Two people should NOT be lifting or moving 400 lbs, whether it be a person or thing. I would watch what you say in ear shot of patients because I'm sure it would offend anyone hearing that even if they know they're heavy. You should've stood your ground with the lpn or gone to the Rn if nothing was done. I understand you want to be friends with people but it's dangerous to move someone who is that big. My back hurts constantly from lifting and I'm only 30. I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you, you have a certification not a license. And I do not think the abuse will be founded especially if you discuss with the facility, not allowing you proper staff, and risking your health.

That's not true. The attorney can talk for you. So you don't further criminalize yourself. If you have all the classes for that BSN it's most likely you have all the classes for an ADN program. You might just have to apply to a different nursing program(associates degree) get your transcripts now so you have them in your hands. Your official transcripts for when you apply to a different school. I would do it just for safety. If the hearing decides to push the issue then u could be barred from that nursing program and any school that would try to get your transcripts they could tell them what you did. So get your transcripts in your hand. Talk to the school lawyer, if you feel he/she isn't listening then you need to talk to an actual attorney because Maryland law does say it's a criminal act even when Its handled by the college, and you need to be diligent In finding out as much info as possible. Don't procrastinate on this. Get your affairs in order. Find other housing possibilities and if you have to take drug classes on your own.

I know we use to have a patient sign a document refusing their diets. But you just need to make sure you're always documenting. You can't force any patient to eat or do shower or to do anything. We can try and persuade and educate the patients letting them know benefits and risks but never force. I think your colleague needs to look at patient rights, which should be hanging up in your facility or in a book you can access.

Unless there is a disciplinary hearing I doubt you will be getting in any actual trouble like criminal trouble. You might have to apply to a different nursing program though. But you do need an attorney no matter what the school says. You need to ask them what their full intentions are because you are wanting to go to nursing school and be honest and willing to fix it if they have requirements. Have they told you of any plans they have for you?

If you weren't officially charged though, like you're record is clean then they can't really do anything. Is the nursing program through this university you're at? It's ONLY if you have charges on you're background check, where they can actually deny your admission where I go. Can you call a lawyer to help you or at least give you advice? And are you at a dorm? Some police officers over look things due to kids being so young. Did you sign anything?

What if I don't pass the board exams? What are ways that I can prepare for them? *The nursing program you decide to go with will help you prepare for that. You have more than one chance to pass but nursing exam questions are different then just memorization questions. You need to know the material and use critical thinking skills to answer these type of questions. 4. What are some tips you have from when you attended nursing school? * Do not try to work full time. You may get away with part-time like I do but I have to work. If you don't have to then I wouldn't because it distracts you and you really need to make nursing school number one priority. * Go into the program with confidence and kill em with kindness. If you make a mistake admit it and always ask for help if you need it. * Look at ADN nursing programs but I would also recommend getting your CNA certification like now. From what you said you aren't charged with anything. They do a background check at the beginning of nursing school and unless the cops came to the school, arrested you, read you your rights, and you went through court then you're fine. Technically the school police should've reported it to the actual police. Especially since having ecstasy and non-prescribed Ritalin on you, are considered felonies, weed I do not know your state laws, but those other two would've got you fines, and jail time. Be thankful you just got a slap on the hand from what it seems. Sometimes college kids are dumb and make mistakes(thank the frontal lobe) however, If you're school tries to call police and charge you then I would look at getting a lawyer. In fact if I were you I would call a lawyer, yesterday. It has to deal with your future so you need to be diligent. Also you really shouldn't be doing drugs that already fry your non-developed frontal lobed brain. I think you will be fine and could still be a nurse if you haven't officially been charged. But please call an attorney. You seem like a smart kid and you get good grades so you need to make sure you're making the right decisions.

Funnnny one---long but worth it! I was working as a certified nursing assistant in an LTC facility, and a doctor was coming in for nursing home rounds. We had about 4 Pts to a room. So I am in the room taking care of one of the patients and the doctor comes in to look at a spot on another patient's coccyx. He's a very hands on doctor, he is actually awesome. Old school type of doctor who despises computers and uses paper still. Continuing on, he actually turned the pt. Himself which I was surprised because I didn't know this doctor at that point but I asked if he needed help and he said no. Since the pt had a spot on his coccyx we had no bottoms on him. I hear the doc say omg he had a bowel movement and he asked me to get him wipes and he starts wiping, which I'm shocked he was doing it himself, and I'm not paying attention to him but I did hear him say "it isn't coming off" and then I heard "oh sh** it's his member!" This pt was a black male who was younger and had development delays and severe disabilities however he would laugh and play if u made jokes and definitely knew what was going on because he busted up laughing and the doc was like, yep ur doctor is an idiot! Every time I saw him after that he would smile really big and shake his head.
