  1. I went to Case Management, and now I work for an insurance company from home.
  2. I would get a lawyer. The Board is not there to help you. I will never deal with the Board without an attorney.
  3. Here is a lawyer in MS that works with nurses. She is really good and easy to work with. Lisa W. McKay, Esquire P.O. Box 750, Jackson, MS 39205 Phone 601-969-1010 Fax 601-969-5120
  4. Make sure you discuss with an attorney that specializes in nursing board issues.
  5. 3 words, don't do it. Look for things or activities that bring you joy and meaning outside of your job. Your job is a means to pay the bills. Nursing will not bring fulfillment. Even with DNP, you are giving up nights, weekends, and holidays with your family. Unless you have MD after your name, you are expendible in the medical world. Nursing breaks you physically and mentally, and the money is not that great.
  6. The manager can alter the schedule to cover the needs of the unit, and that is exactly what she should be doing. I have worked where managers let their favorites work their cushy shifts, while the rest of us had to work short.
  7. Quitting smoking was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I have empathy for smokers and those trying to quit. We should offer support and compassion and encouragement for our fellow nurses who struggle with the burden of smoking.
  8. Me too!!! Thank goodness for telecommuting. í ½í¸Š
  9. Most of my hospital administrators, except for the DON, did not have bedside/clinical experience. They had MBA's or MHA's. If you don't plan to continue for a Master's degree, then nursing may be better.
  10. This right here. Feelings, anxiety, bullying, etc...are not this issue. When someone dies, whose fault is it going to be? Who will be to blame?
  11. I work from home for an insurance company. I make a lot more than I did in the hospital, and it is less of a headache. Definitely an option if the patient care jobs are not for you.
