  1. Those jobs exist and you can apply as an FNP; however, they will probably choose an ACNP over FNP for those positions.
  2. You are comparing apples to oranges. I happened to LOVE organic chem and did very well in it. I sucked at my BSN nursing theory and leadership courses. I would take chem any day over those courses.
  3. It is absolutely appalling. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my endorsement is 10 weeks at this point and looks like it won't go through for another 3-4 weeks. I lost my temporary license 4 weeks ago and can't work. I've lost thousands of dollars. I wrote to my assemblyman in CA and that is not making any progress either. Nurses deserve better than this.
  4. I didn't say that. I said if she had planned accordingly, she would not be SURPRISED that a BSN is required. I'm confused about how that is "extremely offensive". I'm not the University that requires a BSN...don't get offended by what I say... that is the fact the OP is discovering, sorry.
  5. I started at Walden and the "rule of thumb" was 5 hrs per credit/week. I usually did about 10-15 hours/week on those classes. I'm unsure about UTA but that was my experience with Walden.
  6. I was in the Walden program (AGACNP) for 2 quarters but recently switched to UTA. I had a good experience with Walden but thought it would be in my best interest to go to a University with contracts for preceptors in my area. Also, UTA was cheaper. Anyway, I just wanted to say, I liked Walden and had a good experience.
  7. I have no "tricks or tips", you will find out what works for you. Some people do all their shifts in a row... some people don't. It's all preference. Some people completely "switch" their life to "night shift mode". I could never do that, I liked being a "normal" human and being awake during the days on my time off. I did nights for 8 years and never really found what worked for me. Once I got off nights, my life drastically improved. It's difficult but some people love it... you may end up liking it, who knows.
  8. I had a TBI in nursing school (15 years ago) from an MVC, in my 4th semester. I managed to graduate on time and now getting my APRN. I do have memory issues and difficulty finding words sometimes but it hasn't stopped me. Of course, it certainly depends on the severity of TBI.
  9. I'm sorry about your husband's passing. You are never too old to learn and get a degree. It will be a rewarding accomplishment, at any age.
  10. If you planned accordingly, you would have got a BSN... doesn't sound like you "know exactly how to get there". Good luck to you. I think when you mature and become an RN and CRNA, you will realize having a BSN is not useless and easy. Especially when you work with other CRNA's who have BSNs. In addition, you will find that advanced hospitals may not want to hire someone without a BSN degree, even if you hold a CRNA. Most elite hospitals want BSN degrees, so they can be magnet hospitals.
  11. In my situation, it doesn't really compare. There were 600 applicants for my BSN program in 2003 and 30 spots. It was extremely competitive. There are not as many applicants for NP school, so if you meet the requirements and the deadline, they take you on a first come first serve basis. I believe it was GPA >3.0, statistics, and 2+ years experience to apply. Hi!, yes, that is the FB group I found so far.
  12. I just moved from CA to TX 6 weeks ago. There is a FB group for UTA MSN students that we can all use to keep in touch. I am in the AGACNP program, starting Jan. Shannon
  13. Hi, I am also starting UTAs ACNP program in Spring 2020. I started this program at Walden University (for 2 quarters) and decided to switch to UTA, because I think that will give me an advantage. Anyway, I am in Austin, I just moved here from CA 6 weeks ago. I am a helicopter Flight Nurse with 14 years of trauma ICU/ED experience. I found a FB page for UTA MSN students that you might want to join. I was hoping there was a FB page for AGACNP students, so we could all communicate together, but I haven't found one yet. Shannon
  14. Hi! May I ask why? I'm currently at Walden U but just got into this program.
  15. I was just accepted to the program for Acute Care NP, starting Jan 2020. Did you get in OP?
