Popularity of the nursing program

Published

Is the nursing program as popular with students at universities as it is in community colleges? I am going to a community college and I eventually want to transfer to a 4 year institute and get a bachelor's. I have no idea what I want to do but I know I want a bachelor's. I am having fun right now just learning, and figuring out what I'm good at it, and don't want to rush and pick a major yet. One thing I know is I don't want to be a nurse, and I think I am the only female in the whole school that isn't trying to get into the nursing program.

In general, yes.

It's interesting that you came to a nursing website just to say that you don't want to be a nurse.

Are you posting in a nursing forum because you are ruling out the careers that you don't want to do? Are you seeking information because you are naturally curious and tend to be an information seeker? If so, have you looked at a career that focuses on information seeking such as librarian?

Honestly, I don't think you would do well in nursing school or even as a nurse because of your love-hate relationship with the mere thought of nursing.

In reading your other posts dating back to April (I didn't read them all), I believe you may have some unresolved issues that need to be addressed before you make a heavily-priced educational decision in any academic major.

As for posting here, I think you'd find the answer to this particular question on a basic college or university blog instead of a nursing forum. Here, you appear to be a masochist with the things you've posted....go figure.

Ahhh, did not even notice the identity of the poster. Now all is clear.....or not.

I generally don't remember things about members and what they've said. But this week has been different. After having had the last two of her threads closed, she's back again with some form of anti-nurse thread??? Resilience at its best...or not.

How bizarre...

To answer the question, all kinds of nursing programs (BSN, ASN, LPN/LVN) are popular and impacted, regardless of the type of school (university, community college, trade school).

Generally, the more affordable the tuition, the more applicants there will be.

Nursing is just like any other major at a university

It sounds like some displaced anger being put on the nursing profession stemming from some personal reasons of her not being able to be a nurse (as far as i can read from previous posts anyway):sorry:

If you know you don't want to be a nurse (whether it's because of your criminal background, your preference for studying law, or because you just don't like nurses), how is the popularity of the nursing track at community colleges or 4-year colleges relevant to any decision you make?

I don't understand why you are still coming onto this site and posting about your love/hate relationship with nursing. Continuing to post about how you don't like nurses and know you would never want to be a nurse isn't doing you any favors if you are genuinely looking for advice/helpful responses. Or do you just like creating conflict? I agree you need to figure a few things out before you decide to invest a lot of money toward any degree, but I think that counseling would help you a lot more effectively than starting posts which often end up being or becoming incendiary and getting shut down.

Best of luck.
