Unfortunately, this is the way nursing school is and it is not going to stop. I suggest you write out the topics and spend at least a little time on them each day so each gets some attention. Not being mean here, but do you have a problem with spelling? That is something else you need to work on.

Make a list of the things you need to study. Take them one at a time. Sometimes being overwelmed can make you incapacitated. I can imagine you are feeling alot of burn out, but look how far you have come. YOU CAN DO IT. Hang in there!!!! keep coming to Allnurses for encouragment. We are all in the same boat....

You definately have to step back a moment and take a deep breath. Once you have done that formulate a plan of attack and follow that from this point going forward. Trust me at some point and time we all feel overwhelmed with situations that face us. I suggest (if your teacher doesn't mind) recording the lectures and listening to them while driving, while relaxing, where ever you can put ear buds in and this information will become embedded and it is a good way to stay on top of things. Devote a about 30-60 minutes daily to each of the topics at hand. Read over the notes ..the highlights of the chapter and move on.
If you have made it to the second semester of nursing school, you can make it to the end!!! I hope this helps and be encouraged.

I have to agree with the other posts. layout all the topics you are required to know for the next test and take one step at a time. I dont know if your teacher allows you to record the lectures but that has been really helpful to me. Tab your books with what you will be needing to study and go from there. start with more simple and end with the complex subjects. It sounds like you are in a med surg class. If your class has a syllabus go to that to reference what it is your professor is expecting you to know. Good luck with your studies. Remember your not alone EVERY student feels the same if not worse. Dont try and study all frazzeled and focused on ALL you need to tackle. Clear your mind and focus on the topic at hand. you will not retain anything if you try and study so frazzeled. One really helpful tip i have is form a study group with your classmates is is crazy how beneficial that is..

It will all come in time we all feel at times overwhelmed. Just relax or you will do worse. Take a deep breath, go out for a walk. I make flashcards so I can take them wherever I go and use the few minutes there to go over them because they are really portable. Buy the index card on one side put what you need to know on the other the word or question. It is just a thought and it works well for me.
it was just typing error!!!!!!!!!!what's wrong with that??

I have a feeling that English is not your first language. Your spelling was bad, but your grammar was much worse; and I imagine it is because you do not have full command of the English language. If this is the case, that may be the reason that you are having such difficulty with your class.
